[PbP Gameday VI PFS] **Classic** Helikon´s Nightmarch of Kalkamedes (Inactive)

Game Master Helikon

A veteran Pathfinder exploring the Fenwall Mountains of Varisia has begun sleepwalking, traveling through the dead of night in the same direction each time. The following mornings, however, he awakens injured and lost in the wilderness, never reaching the mysterious destination that drew him from his bed in the night. Something is calling Kalkamedes, something powerful, but unless he can make it safely to the source of his somnambulism, that power will remain a mystery. It falls to a team of Pathfinders to escort the sleepwalker to his destination and uncover the true nature of the strange phenomenon overtaking Kalkamedes's dreams.

I am recruiting up to 6 brave adventurers for the escort in Classic mode. Tier is 1-5, with me being open to either subtier depending on player/character interest.
We'll be kicking off at the start of the upcoming Play-by-Post Gameday: August 25th.

Since there's already two martial characters, and another unarmed one besides, I could throw together a caster or healer by August 25th no problem, but I figure I'll throw this up here anyways.

Hey, if you are open for absolute beginners, might I throw my hat in. Have been looking to get into organised PbP games :)
Might need some hand holding to start, but have taken part in PbP games in the old White Wolf WoD and Heavy Gear games.
Returning to the Pathfinder system after a long time away form D20 games in general so, a Core game would be a great re-introduction :)

If you have room for another player and don't mind someone completely new to Pfs and PbP, I'd like to try my hand at it. I'm pretty familiar with casual pathfinding, so with a few pointers on the society part, I don't think there should be any problems.

Woot! What do you need from me/us? I don't have a character yet, but I should be able to throw together something to fit the rest of the party. So far I'm thinking of playing a wizard or healy paladin, but nothing decided.

Is it too late for me to throw my hat into the ring? I don't have a character built just yet, but I'm planning on putting together an Ulfen druidess with a tyrannosaurus companion. :)

EDIT: I've got my druidess, Birgitte Erlendsdotter, nearly built. If I'm in time, I'd love to step in with her.

So.. for us uninitiated.. what's classic? would that be regular pfs? I couldn't figure it out =/

I'd actually thought you meant that this game was Core, and I've got Birgitte set up as a Core character. I'll go ahead and reapply on the other thread.

Core would be using th3 core book only with some traits from the advanced players guide

So classic would be... just your regular old pathfinder?

Right. What is this gameday 6 thing? Everybody seems to be talking about it, and it seems to be when all the pfs adventures kick off.

Post Game Day 6, Beginning August 25th, 2017

It's a PbP convention. Lots of GMs are holding off on starting things so to not be overextended for GM. An advantage of GD for GMs is scenario support.

So what are the essensials for pfs play? I skimmed the pfs guide, but there are probably heaps of things I've missed.

How often do the game days come up?

The "core assumption" is that you have access to the Core Rulebook, which you do via the Paizo PRD (but only the Core Rulebook). The Additional Resources document tells you what's legal in each rule book, including Core. To use anything else outside of Core, you need to own the book (or PDF).

You can get a PFS number and register character names through the Paizo site (in your Account). It's free.

Ah, the whole owning books thing.. How does one deal with that? Especialy when stuff goes on online?

It's largely a matter of trust. If a GM asks to audit your sheet or to see the reference for an ability (usually some oddball thing in a Companions book), your responsibility is to show them your hard copy book or your watermarked PDF. Online sources like Nethys and d20prd don't count (except for Core Rulebook, like I said above).

You can make perfectly excellent characters with just Core. :)

Cool, so what do we need partywise? Something caster/healery would probably be nice. A witch maybe?

Well this PFS, if you bring dwarven bards to the table, you have to run with a party of dwarven bards

Are dwarfen bards a problem in pfs?

No, it's probably a reference to whatever shows up at the table is what you play with (being flexible is a plus). It probably is more common when playing live because I know that I don't bring all my character sheets with me to my games. I bring the one I want to play the scenario and a couple back-ups.

With PbP, at least for me, I can pick from my whole file of characters (at least for tier 1-2).

Right, in Pfs you get to play with randoms. You'll probably have to bear with me, I think I've played with the same two groups of people for close to ten years now, and have probably picked up tonnes of weird habits. :p
