While the talky people (well, and talky skull, KULIK supposes) do their talky stuff, KULIK first lends a hand to Boris' destruction of the undead thing, then does a thorough search of the area. His experience with extraplanar beings found its POP and disappearance unsurprising, but still unnerving when it happens.

Take 10 on Perception about the chamber for 37 (darkvision), or take 20 if everyone feels we have the time.


"Traps eh? Well, there is really only the one. None of you are dwarves, right? Perhaps you should stay away from Magrim then. He's not exactly forgiving to Tresspassers, and since I passed on, I think they trapped the Big Guy. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get down there." Furrowing her brow for a moment (Which is a bit weird for a Talking Skull) she adds "You haven't been to the Lower Ossuary yet, have you? Chain bridges, Giant statue of Magrim, 40 foot drop to a Caldera of Magma? No? Well, I designed the whole place, so I can at least describe where everything is. On the other side of the Caldera is a Large iron door, with the Cooling room just on the other side. There are a few Enbalming chambers past that, and finally the Vault of Heroes, where only the most devout of Magrim are entombed. I'd hate to see what happened down there if that Ass got a hold of any more bodies..."

She can give you a full description of the rest of the Ossuary, and I will put up a map for it tonight when I get home. Additionally, Giant Pit of Lava, so let me know how you want to deal with that!

As for the Duration of existing buffs, assume it took 10 minutes to sort through the Gore of that warsworn, so your 10 minute per level buffs will absolutely last through this bit. Additionally, Unless you guys decide to Specifically waste time, If you have at least a half hour left on your buffs, I'm willing to assume they last the remainder of the adventure.


Gallows Part 3 | REBIRTH!

Kulik, looking further into the cavern, finds a large, ovular cavern descends into a 40-foot-deep recess by means of a 10-foot-wide spiraling ramp. In the center is a 10-foot-diameter stone plinth with a rounded top. Wedged behind a stalagmite slightly past it is a Well made backpack, bulging around the edges.

Look inside?:
Inside, is a Well maintained waterskin, and 5 days of trail rations. Underneath is a small silver locket, with an illusory image of a Keleshite woman in her early 20s opposite a tiny inscription that reads, “Remember: no night so dark that Sarenrae cannot fill it with light.”
At the very bottom of the backpack is a Dinner plate sized Obsidian stone circle covered in runes! You should probably show that to Borsaget!

Turning to the skull he asks, Borsaget, how do we reach the lower ossuary?

To the others he says, I can ward us against the heat although I am also about to expend a significant amount of my magical reserves on other wards. If one of you could deal with that it would be helpful.

If we are heading into the lower Ossuary Jin will cast some extra buff spells on himself and others if they want them.

-Communal delay poison on everyone. 150 minutes each.


As Nikolai shows her the Obsidian Circle, Borsaget exclaims ”Aha! There’s one of the plates! That one looks to be... Chasarad. If you’re a Devotee of Magrim, that can be a Might helpful from keeping you from Passing over. If you at least agree with the taskmaster on some things, he might be willing to give you a bit of protection. Although Only True Dwarven devotees get the best treatment.”

Long story short, the bearer of the Runplate gets the following protections:

  • A +4 bonus on saving throws against death and paralysis effects.
  • If you have the Hero of the Five Kings boon (From 1-37, The Beggar’s Pearl), the runeplate also increases their effective Constitution score by 20 for the purpose of determining when she would die due to hit point damage.
  • If the creature’s alignment is lawful neutral, they can also be revived by breath of life so long as it is cast within 3 rounds (rather than just 1 round).

    ”To get to the Lower Ossuary, you gotta go shove that statue. When the ‘Caretakers’ come to ‘Maintain’ the ossuary, that’s normally where they set up the Keg. The f+$#ers never give me any of their Ale when they are here. It’s a tough life being a Skull, Cant experience the finer bits of being a dwarf. The beards, the Ales, the Merriment. If I knew this was the shit I was getting into, I don’t think I woulda signed up for this job!”

    After a gentle shove of the statue, a 5 foot opening reveals a narrow spiral staircase heading down, the temperature getting noticably warmer with every step.


  • Gallows Part 3 | REBIRTH!

    The spiral staircase exits onto a narrow rock ledge overlooking a lake of roiling magma that bathes everything in a hellish glow. A slowly swaying bridge made of chains stretches from the rock ledge to the top of a stone column protruding from the molten lake. A similar bridge connects the platform to a smaller ledge on the far side, beyond which stands a large iron door. Atop the column stands a large statue of a regal, elderly dwarf clutching a rune-covered hammer in one fist while his free hand rests above his heart. Polished marble tiles form a series of four narrow pathways that encircle the statue.

    Map is up, and you guys are placed close enough to appropriate? Many of you Larger folks are going to have a really rough time fitting on any of the platforms, so hopefully you planned accordingly :D

    Bellum will use his mnemonic vestment to cast communal air walk from a scroll and divide the duration among everyone, including minions. (About 20 minutes each.)

    Bellum, I have Overland Flight up, so you can extend the duration on everyone else for the Air Walk.

    I will use a Lesser Extend Rod to cast Extended Bear's Endurance, Extended Long Arm, Extended Shield, and Extended Weaponwand (placing my wand of True Strike into my trident) (lasting 26 minutes each). I will then use Pearls of Power to recover all four spells.

    I will use a Barskin wand (UMD+20, can't fail) and offer it to anyone else who can use it and would benefit.

    I will also offer 1 hour of Mage Armor off of a wand to anyone who wants the potential protection from incorporeal.

    Finally a wand of Enervation goes in one spring-loaded wrist sheath, and a wand of Scorching Ray goes in the other.

    With spells cast and wands set, Aderyn prepares to move in. Knowing his eyes aren't the sharpest in the group, he lets others check for signs of trouble before starting to cross.

    Upon entering the Opressively Hot caldera of Magma, Only Jin-Goro notices a very slight sound of Jingling Coins and heavy breathing coming from a pillar 40 foot above. As he looks to the source of the noise, Two large beasts made of Powerful Wings and Charred red scales dive 80 feet into the Magma below. Almost immediately afterwards, Two more of the beasts dive down from another tall column across the room. ”That’s new!” shouts Borsaget, before adding ”Keep me safe folks! I don’t think I could recover from a dip like that!”

    Floating over the lava he watches the surface for signs of a creature returning.

    Regular round he takes the AC bonus from blessing and moves forward and readies an action to cast Destruction on the first enemy to make istself known which is in range (60'). Destruction deals 150 damage with a DC30 fortitude save to reduce it to 10d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 2, 5, 3, 6, 6, 3, 4) = 38

    Roaring in Pain, the beast ascends toward Jin-Goro, before taking a Massive downward swing at the Rotting Half-Orc.

    The powerful swing propels the Orc downward 10 feet, before Jin-Goro's magical propulsion can compensate.

    As the Green drake streaks up toward the opposite Ledge, Boris drives his Axe into the creature's spine, before it flies out of reach. Let's say that is your AoO instead of a Readied Action? Take your other swing before the rest of this applies, Just In Case Drake-Dude goes down.
    The lizard shakes vigorously, flinging shards of stone and magma throughout the room!
