Lissa smiles and bows her head slightly toward the dwarf in greeting, "I don't know Jillia, he did do something that none of us did: beat that dummy silly. Besides, let the man rest a little. He did rush here from the Coins." And with that, Lissa digs into her breakfast...
Then Semagoro adds his two copper about the course. Instantly, Lissa has to cover her mouth to stop herself from spraying her food across the rest of the entourage. After a moment of coughing, she starts laughing.
"Ok, ok," she finally chokes out with a grin on her face, "That was perfect, Semagoro. Good timing there." After a couple more moments to recover, she returns to her food, eating quickly to avoid that happening again.
As she devours her meal, she watches Kajar's run. "And now Jillia, with the way Desna's whim has been here, Grimn will likely trip on his own helmet for half the course now."

As more and more people file in and riddles continue to fly about it's that Nella can do to keep track of everything, spinning around and around in her attempt to watch everything that's happening.
"Ugh...getting dizzy," she mutters, taking a seat on her stool once more. "By the way, I agree with Lissa - excellent description of the obstacle course, Semagoro" she grins. "And you," she turns her attention to Boris, "I think that was the best description of Zey that I've heard yet! Maybe I could try setting him up with my aunt...that'd either loosen him up or kill him, one of the two," she snickers. "Calistria worshiper," she adds by way of explanation.
As Kajar makes the second perfect run of the obstacle course, the priestess applauds as the half-orc takes a bow. "Well done!"

Hmm, good point, does Grimn have enough energy after the marathon run from district to another district? Let's find out!
Grimn nods at people introducing themselves and replies to Lissa "Hah... I do have had 'lucky' day so far.. But if everyone else has suffered through it, it is only right I should have my part in it too."
Grimn steps towards the course and...

I don't know the result of the above check yet, but assuming Grimn doesn't pass out right away (or if he does and hobbles towards the course anyway), here is the check for first obstacle xD Let's see if his con holds up!

The burly looking half-orc makes a perfect run at the obstacle course, and applause breaks out among the growing crowd of onlookers which is barely loud enough to stifle the laughing at Boris' joke.
"You're not wrong Boris, I don't think there's anyone stiffer in Absalom than Master Zey!"
Sitting down with the rest of the hopefuls, Markus helps himself to a plate of eggs and bacon. He tucks into his third breakfast as Grimn starts the obstacle course. I'm not sure how this is going to go, he thinks, based on his 'stealthy' approach.
"Go on Grimn, we're all behind y - ooh, that looked painful!" shouts Markus as Grimn hurls himself at the bar stool and falls over it in a clatter of armour.

Remember all of the hints. There's gotta be a solution.
Jillia finishes scratching out her riddle notes, which are nearly to the point where writing anything else would require white ink over the nearly illegible smears of black ink.
Queen Galfrey She's a Paladin, right?
Queen Abrogail
Princess Eutropia Too young.
Lady Arazni
Lady Morilla
Paracountess Dralneen Pious men?

Janira (?) She wouldn't ask a riddle about herself. Right?
White Estrid
Baba Yaga
Runelord Alzanist Dead for too long.
ALTARS (goddesses?)
Desna
Chaldira Zuzaristan I don't think she'd ask the tall ones about the Calamitous Turn.
Shelyn
Calistria 'Pious men kneeling' means something COMPLETELY different here.
Urgathoa
Iomedae I know she did lots of stuff...11 Acts rings a bell...
Sivanah
Pharasma Maybe it's all an allegory for death? Everyone sees Pharasma. Each stanza might not be interconnected. It's a story of three different deaths? And then a remark that her last judgment shall be herself?
Lamashtu
Executioners (Killers? Armies?)
Razor Jenny How long has Galt been around? And what do they import?
Grey Maidens
Jadwiga
Red Mantis Assassins Are these mostly women?
Dorianna Ouidda
"Trust in the path," she says to herself, tossing a copper piece in the air.
Jillia confidently circles Pharasma.
"Janira! I figured it out," she calls, delivering her answer, nervous smile on her face. Under her breath, she tacks on "I think."
She sits back down where she can get a good view of any obstacle course challengers.
The way this is going, maybe the Aspis dummy should get a field commission.

Beaming at the opportunity to discuss his patron, Varus excitedly turns to to Boris.
"Oh, you aren't familiar with the Everbloom? Milani is the most amazing goddess! She is the patron of all those struggling against tyranny! She will help any just rebellion fight their unjust oppressors! And as the sister of Iomedae, they often help each other be an even greater force for good!"
Varus blinks, realizing he had forgotten to breathe during his entire oration. Laughing, he puts his hand on Boris' shoulder, "And her dental hygiene is immaculate."
Realizing he has been talking too much, he says "Oh, I have a riddle for everyone, though it is a bit easy:
I have forests, but no trees; rivers, but no water; mountains, but no rocks. What am I?"

"A map!" shouts the excited half-orc, energized by the eclectic buzz of the tavern.
"I like you Varus, though you talk a lot. There were many like you on the road from Belkzen, with a kind word and warm broth for us refugees. But you speak less of war than the paladins of Saranrae, and more of change- this is a conflict I understand. Should we be chosen, my axes will guard your faith."

The sheer number of simultaneous conversations make it hard for Boris to focus on any one conversation in particular; but while it is makes him look slightly confused, it is, perhaps a blessing in disguise for a man with definite gaps in his social skill palette.
He nods at the sturdily built Varisian woman (Lissa) , saying "Boris is hopes you no like Aunt; is bad thing wish for one who is love." as he winces at the thought. "You is Varisia woman? Boris is can ask questions? Boris not know and hear lots from not Varisia people, not sure what is."

He shakes his head, as if dismissing the notion, drinks the second cup straight and states"Still is not good bean juice. Again!!! Also this time you try with me Markus. You is know good food."

Wow. Rolled so bad on initiative for most of you!
Shuo and Varus are first on the scene, and they see the strange wooden dummy hobbling towards them, its long arms outstretched (it looks like it would have reach, despite its size). Each smacks into the ground in turn as though challenging the Pathfinders directly, calling them out in its own way.
"Umm... this isn't part of the test! Look out initiates!" cries Janira from within the tavern.
No surprise round for simplicity. Move your own tokens on the map or ask me to do it for you if you can't adjust it on your device. "There was no way a spinning dummy should have hit so many capable pathfinder recruits so easily!"

I can see the map as well, I like it! And at this point it's just fitting that I'm last in initiative, paralyzed by fear for our mortal enemy!
Semagoro looks on at the menacing dummy aghast, before snapping back to reality: "Just as I suspected, you were alive! But," Semagoro looks towards his companions, a nervous tinge to his voice "does anyone know what sort of magic could have caused this wily thing to act like this?"
Perhaps the work of an enemy conjuror, or some sprite that has lost its way? Shelyn's grace, don't fail us now...

GM Damo the Fourth |

I make animal companions share initiative unless you request otherwise. Just makes it so much easier over PbP. Also, looks like it's time for a "readied action primer". I'll get that in on discussion soonish. I've added a "fei" to the map. Feel free to add your own, Shuo.
Varus advances, and with a quick chant and a twirl of his fingers his blade will be guided by divinity when he chooses to strike.
Shuo is less circumspect and simply fires off a shot at the dummy. The arrow bounces off its hard wooden form, however, not even scratching the surface. Meanwhile, Fei flits around and waits for an ally to flank with.
The Aspis Dummy closes on Varus and lashes out with both 'fists'.
Aspis Dummy slam vs Varus: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Sorry, Fei, but you can only ready a standard action, not a full round. Do you mean to delay? I'm fine with delay... but allies already had made melee attacks.
Shuo utters some words of magic, and his weapons suddenly feel much meatier, allowing him to put a real amount of muscle into it when swinging them.

Love that you guys have picked up on that. I'll have to let Lockwood know. He'll get a giggle for sure. Also, realized that I missed Markus's action. Sorry!
Marcus's glob of acid flies straight for the combat dummy, the dummy moves at the last minute. All the acid does is muddy the water in the fountain before it dissipates.
Also, Semagoro, just so you know, reach weapons use the same kinds of rules as ranged weapons for determining cover, concealment and so on. Attacking through an ally counts as soft cover (+2 AC). Just FYI.
Semagoro's glaive strikes the Aspis dummy. After leaving a small gouge it almost bounces off, directing the last of the nagaji's blow to the nearby stool. The stool's leg goes flying - showing all just how hard to damage this dummy really is!

I'm unsure of the dummy's reach, but if it gets an AoO against me I'll take it.
"Luthor!", Semagoro cries in earnest, as he sees his companion get slammed by the dummy's supernatural strength. "We must finish this now, before it overwhelms us. I can sense it's planning something!"
Semagoro paces towards a better spot, the enemy in plain view, and lunges his glaive towards the dummy's head!
Glaive slice, buckler penalty: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 - 1 = 7
The dummy's erratic movements confound Semagoro, causing him to misstep. His glaive strike merely shaves a couple strands of straw from atop the dummy's head.
"I fear the contraption can predict our every move!", Semagoro shouts, attempting to justify his wild strike.

The dummy spins rapidly. It's first arm smacks in to Varus, but Luthor sees the second arm heading his direction and dances his way out of the dummy's reach. I hope no-one minds me adding some flavour to the miss there
He takes a second to focus his arcane energies in to his scimitar again Arcane Strike - swift action
Luthor starts his combat dance taught to him by his mentor. His feet move rapidly and his blade spins out to strike with suprising accuracy and additional momentum from the dance. starting Battle Dance - Move action
"I will not allow you to hurt my new allies. By Sarenrae, you will be stoppped!" he shouts as he strikes for the dummy.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 22
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 8
He then side steps around the dummy to help his allies to surround the strange animated device. 5 foot step - Free Action. I hope that isn't in anyone's way

With confidence, Shuo moves behind Varus, until he is in a flanking position with Jillia, and attacks the dummie with his sharp katana.
Attack, inspire courage, flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 1 + 2 = 24
Damage, inspire courage, whetstone: 2d6 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 10
After years of training, Shuo knew he hit his target even before landing his attack.
If crits...
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 1 + 2 = 15
Crit Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 12
Uhm, too many swords swinging...
"Fei, kyori de taiki!"
Handle Animal(DC 10): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Lissa grumbles as her first shot goes wide. With a yell of frustration, she releases a second gout of water, only to have that one go even farther off base. "D*** it! It's far to early in the morning for this!"
Kinetic blast, point blank: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
Kinetic blast damage, point blank: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
Glad that crit fail rules don't exist RAW.

I am really sick of this thing hitting me.
Varus steps up to flank with Luthor (five foot step). Then with a quick prayer to Milani (swift action to activate Weapon of the Chosen), he takes another swing at the possessed dummy (with Divine Favor, Flanking, and Inspire Courage).
Attack, Good Aligned: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 29
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 8

"Why don't you stop picking on someone your own size?," Jillia shouts up at the dummy, arms outstretched in open contempt for the automaton harassing her friends.(Swift Action Challenge)
She hacks away at the base of the dummy, (Full-Attacks)
Power Attack, Inspire Courage, Flank: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 + 1 + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 6
And follows the slash by trying to hold on to the whirling dervishbot.
Grapple, Power Attack, Holding Weapon, Flank, Insp. Courage: 1d20 + 2 - 1 - 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 - 1 - 4 + 2 + 1 = 6
This is messy, but at least it's not riddles.
