About Boris "Love" Derevnya Jarlson

The large Ulfen man before you with the short brown mohawk slips a hand under his armor and shirt to scratch loudly at the impressive patch of chest hair that seems to floof up and outward from the confines where it is trapped. A hearty chuckle escapes his lips as he moves to pick absentmindedly at one of the many old scars that crisscross his arms, face and more. Noticing your attention upon him, he looks at you with twinkling green eyes and a warm grin on his face parting the forest of his shaggy beard.

Background:
Boris' earliest memories are of his Urdefhan captivity, and of the sacrifices his aunt, the only surviving member of their clan, made to keep them alive. That Boris got to survive to his 8th year speaks volumes to the tenacity of that once-brave woman. But she passed on under the whip of their captors, and Boris was bartered away shortly thereafter to another settlement. Desna smiled upon that journey, for the path they took first crossed over into Sekamina, then in Nar-Voth before emerging onto the surface, presumably to plunge back into the depths upon traversing Irrisen. That leg of the journey never came to pass as a dwarven caravan bringing goods to Kalsgard stumbled upon the haggard slave column. In the fight, young Boris snatched away one of his captor's blades and made his first kill.

Dwarves are a gruff people, but it cannot be said that their hearts are of the same stone they carve. Boris was taken in by Thorug Okransiir, a merchant with many dealings with humans and the patience needed to raise one. Boris grew up accepted, but longing for more. Never happier than when on the road with his adoptive family to trade for and wide, he never quite developed Thorug's skillset, instead tending to overcompensate in the lewd, crude and blunt department. This behavior did not get any better when Thorug, deciding that the lad's talent for spellweaving should be channeled and grown, sent him to Absalom and secured him an opportunity to take the Arcanamirium entry test. Boris Did well enough to be accepted, but his propensity to overdo things earned him more than a few rebukes, and even resulted in fights. Desna smiled again upon Boris, for he had some talent with a blade, talent that did not yet extend to his mastery of the Rhoka sword he had secured his freedom with so long ago.

In the end, Boris, the last son of a long gone ulfen village's Jarl, joined the Pathfinder Society to satisfy his urge to see the world. He also hopes that rubbing shoulders with the friends of the so-called "Sovereign Court" will allow him to meet enough people to attempt the journey down back into Orv, where his Aunt's remains, and those of the ones that did not make it remain to be interred. And Weregild remains to be repaid.
