Gotta keep that cash money flowing baby! I was pretty impressed with how many of the Bestiary 5 creatures ended up being interesting. I'll admit, 80% of the reason I buy a bestiary is the art.

I'm looking forward to it, mainly because they finally have a canine race that isn't a kitsune.
This message was copied and pasted to every game I'm involved in;
I will be making a trip out of the country for two months and will be unable to post for the flight. Will be able to post again and regularly once settled in. Sorry for any delay.
Also, I think we have enough votes for "get 'em ray!" to go for the captain, right? as long as we can get the info from the grays in the security room.
Something like that happens to me with every new book release.
By all means, you have the map. Should I just lead you to lead them?
Game has slowed down quite a bit. If everyone is still with me, I could probably kick it back up after a quick recruiting session, or if you would all want, we can put it on hiatus after this adventure.
1. Rules say they fire ten bullets per burst, no less. So is the damage in the chart per bullet, or per burst?
2. Also it mentions that "attack damage cannot be modified by precision damage or damage-increasing feats such as Vital Strike." Is this just disallowing Vital Strike specifically because Vital Strike isn't allowed to be built off of in anyway ever, yes even then? Does it include PBS?
3. "When an automatic weapon attacks all creatures in a line, it makes a separate attack roll against each creature in the line. Each creature in the line can only be attacked with one bullet from each burst." So, if I attack two different guys, I can't use the other eight bullets in the attack?
For what its worth, my understanding would say: 1. Damage listed is per bullet, and effects like Gun Training only work on one target per round. 2. No-go list probably includes Deadly Aim, but feats like Precise Shot and Clustered Shots would work for two reasons. They don't deal damage, and any ranged weapon is like a thrown wet noodle without things like Precise shot. 3. ??? Egh?
So, I'm wondering how you would rule these things GM. All in all it seems like they could be lame, or they could be cool, but I don't know how the rules on them function well enough to say. But if they are worth it, and I do make some, we could do this. And that's good.

1 and 3 I can't rule on, but 2 is very clear. Damage cannot be modified by precision damage(like sneak attack) or feats that increase the damage you deal(like Deadly or Weapon Specialization).

Sounds right to me. That's pretty close to what I was trying to say, but more coherent. So, the attack bonus from PBS would apply, but not the damage half? That sounds like what this means, but it feels weird. And precise shot sounds like it wouldn't work, because automatic weapons hit everything in a line which... sounds like a problem. If the target is really big, it shouldn't be a problem.
Hmm, link is not showing, so I'm going to go off of what I see now,
I'll let you get pretty ridiculous, because if the heroes can have automatic weapons, it leaves the opportunity for a squad of hobgoblin maffia toughs with their alchemical tommyguns shooting through the windows.
In fact, I recall that during the recruitment thread, someone might have been talkin' nukes... .
As for its potential for being OP, a lot of that could be reduced by the modern setting's prevalence of ballistic armor.
It almost feels like there should be a feat for it, something like Hammer the Gap, (unless that fits perfectly into it already).

1. The weapons attack everything in a line. Doesn't matter whose team you're on. For a party that's mostly melee, this is a slight issue. Also why I want to retrain Devic's Smoke Bomb discovery at some point.
2. Every attack roll with an automatic weapon eats a -2 to hit. Combined with targeting normal AC in this game in particular, and I don't think I'll be hitting much of anything really.
3. Hammer the Gap wouldn't work, it is a damage increasing feat. The base damage of something I would look to make would probably do 1d6, or 1d8 per shot. So each attack (each burst, if you will) would do 10d6 per shot. That looks like a lot, but when you factor in the above effects of the low chance to-hit, and the need to pick targets really carefully, it seems less impressive. Plus, that 10d6 averages to about 30, which gets less useful later on, when you consider DR. I'm also assuming the shots in the burst occur simultaneously enough for DR to only apply once per attack like normal. Points 2 and 3 are probably the easiest to get around, since there are PC's that would be more effective with automatic guns to than mine.
4. In fact, now that I look again, I can't think of any feats that really work with them. Half of Point-blank Shot? Weapon Focus? This makes me wonder if the rulesspeak called out vital strike along with precision damage in particular since those damage dice do get crazy in that case. Otherwise you need a base number of 0 feats invested in these complex weapons, and your good.
Those are my thoughts anyway. Any comments anyone?
So sorry for absence! For the life of me, I wasn't able to open Paizo at home (the rest of the internet works like a charm). Am at coffeehouse now and it's working like a charm.
DR and auto weapons remind me of my earliy attempts to use baby Yoshi against monsters with high defense in Paper Mario 2.
If you want to take the risk/reward of the auto weapon with Clustered-Shots, I see no reason why not to let that happen.
Will open up recruitment thread soon. Will luckily be away from my home's spotty internet and within a block of my favorite coffeehouse for the next six-or-so days.
Yeah, I've had perfect access on my phone, and only my phone. No comp. Capability.
If thats how the automatic weapons work, then I'll have to give them a pass. Itll just be frustrating with Devic. If anyone else would like to pick up a couple feats to give it a try since the higher damage die from a medium creature will definitely help, I'm still open for commissions.
