Assuming you guys are spending time searching the shaft and the elevator itself...

A quick scan reveals that there is a trapdoor in the elevator. Opening it up reveals a ladder leading down the edge of the shaft.

The normally soft-soled Marina doesn't expect the ladder to creak and groan as much as it does on the way down. Dissa follows shortly after, making much more noise in a much shorter time span.

Wispy spiderwebs hang like curtains along this tunnel’s width, their bottoms stained from wicking dirty water from the slippery floor below. The tunnel is 10 foot high, 10 foot wide, and 180 feet long to a closed set of double doors.

"well, if no one's in the tunnel maybe they still didn't hear that behind the doors" she whispers.

If the team is ready, Marina levels her spear and begins creeping down the corridor. It's very slow, as she checks for traps and places each foot carefully.

Is there a way for Kontha to get down?


The elevator is always available... Otherwise she'll have to stay up top. Kontha being available may affect the next portion, so you guys will have to decide if its worth trying to get her down the shaft.

Something twists in the air, before massive spiders leap out of the air at Marina and Dissa! Surprise round

Marina just manages to slip away from the jaws of the spider lunging for her. Dissa is not so lucky, the spiders' envenomed fangs dripping sinking into his flesh and leaving terrible wounds. Both spiders then slip back into the air, disappearing before your eyes. As you prepare to retaliate one of the spiders comes back for another go at Marina. 1st Round

Bite!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12 Plus a DC 18 Fortitude save

After delivering a bite the spider slips away into the ethereal once more.

Will be on the drowned presbytery (G20). Since the spiders are phasing in and out of the material plane I haven't gotten around to placing the character tiles on it yet.

Dissa offers his thanks and prepares for another attack by the spiders, shouting up the shaft for Kontha and Dulomak.

Kontha remains at the top of the shaft while Dulomak sets up with Dissa and Marina, cutting into the spider as it reappears along with his companions. The spider drops with the final assault on it. Strangely, the second spider has not yet reappeared.

Looking around warily - "I wonder if it's just watching us to warn those ahead" Marina whispers. "Maybe we should just move on after a moment."

After about 30 seconds, Marina makes to move on cautiously.

Navigating Kontha down the shaft will be difficult with the elevator still in the way. I'll need a DC 18 Str check to try and lower her with ropes unless you want to use the elevator or she just falls.

Nothing happens for those precious 30 seconds. Either the spider left or it is waiting in ambush once again...

Your team advances down the tunnel, webs occasionally getting in your way, but nothing that can't be brushed off. Marina's light continues to glow and lead the way. Some hundred and fifty feet from the elevator you finally spot a double doorway ahead, marking the end of your journey. It is as you begin heading toward it with renewed vigor that the second spider attacks!

The spider leaps out of the ethereal, wrapping its mandibles around Marina's leg and sinking its fangs so very close to an artery, delivering its venom straight to her system. It then detaches and disappears once again.
