Marina uses monk speed to run all the way around.
"I'm not going in the poison webs! They've more than got squishing spiders covered, let me see if I can find more surprises around the corner or on the second floor..."
This is one move action, if nothing here she'll keep going.

GM Fez |

Polished mahogany walls and wooden floors shift abruptly to rough, crumbling rock, giving way to the foundations of an old temple incorporated into the house’s architecture. A beautifully aged glass mosaic of a butterfly spreads it wings between weather-beaten marble columns adorned with an astrological motif. To the west, the stout slats of an old wooden stage have been forcefully pried up and piled near a stone altar carved from the island’s bedrock.
Surprise slam!: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 2 = 17
Something shifts in the air currents around Marina, giving her a split second to dodge from something coming at her! Attack is from the tile that the stalker is on.
As this is going on more chittering can be heard in the room full of webs. The spiders then charge, seemingly enraged by the invasion of their territory.

Nah, he's still hanging out near the roof of the room above. If anyone's played CotCT the name may be familiar from the first book.
The spiders stand no chance as Dissa cuts them in half. More chittering, angry sounding, echoes around the room.

Webs start raining down on Dissa from above.
Web!: 1d20 + 8 - 2 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 2 - 2 + 2 = 16
They wrap around the man, entangling him in their sticky embrace. You are now entangled and take a -2 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity, can move at only half speed, and cannot charge or run. You can escape with a DC 15 Escape Artist check or burst it with a DC 19 Burst check.
Looking up you see a nightmarish Ettercap flying some 30 feet above Dissa. It sounds like it is the source of the chittering.

Forgot to add this to the last post.
Nothing about this creature is natural. Ettercaps are already abominations, but this thing appears to have mutated further, its head elongating into a vaguely shield shape. Its chiton is now bone white, and the more flexible bits run a deep scarlet.
Will!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Cyrene's call seems to have helped more than Marina, as the creature fighting her doesn't seem disoriented by the glitter covering it and her now. But it is visible, a vaguely humanoid shape, though its proportions seem slightly distorted.
It manages to avoid Marina's first punch, but she gets a sense of its speed and connects with her next two attacks.
Dulomak, do you want to roll for the Stirge or would you like me to?
Dissa breaks out of the entangling webs, throwing a dart nearly directly above him, sinking a dart deep into the meat of the ettercap.

But because I was summoned in this room I have chosen to guard only it from intruders, and the cult proved they are the rightful inhabitants when they showed me the deed. Thus I must protect this room from those that would hurt them."

Assuming Dulomak hasn't brought down the stalker...
"Oh, great, well, this fight is dumb then, thanks for sharing, we'll process the rightful inhabitants later but the state takes exception to their acts of terrorism and we are seizing the building. I'll go find a deed. Maybe that's enough loophole in your binding?"'
Marina 5 ft steps into the next room and heals herself.

Cyrene waits, hoping that Marina has enough of an idea to short circuit the fight. She has full confidence in Dissa, but prefers not having to watch him get hurt...

GM Fez |

Dulomak's initial powerful blow, combined with all of the 'soft touches' applied by Marina are enough to knock the stalker out cold. You can finish it off if you want.
More angry chittering comes from up above, especially as a spider is thrown to the rafters, but it sounds like it is receding. Combat over? Unless Cyrene can do something to hit Chittersnap.

![]() |

I could MM but Cyrene won't. It's leaving and that will do.
"Are you allright Dissa?" Cyrene asks, craning to look at the general's full twelve feet of height.

![]() |

Dissa spends a move action to gain Throw Anything with his Martial Flexibility. He then slings his Fauchard into it's holster, and puts a spider corpse in each hand.
"Actually, I'm totally fine. I got hit with some spider web juice, but all I had to do was walk out of it. I would prefer to hurry through the rest of the complex. I have limited use of some of my supernatural abilities, and I want to take advantage of them!"
The big man is on the hunt.
"If you want to help me, grab as many of those spider corpses as you can. I'm ready to give these beasts a taste of their own medicine!"
With that said, he presses into G12. He speaks more softly on the walk, "Don't worry, I won't let any harm befall your beautiful countenance. I would die to protect you, and nothing in here can kill me."

![]() |

"Don't kill it! This creature was just bound here! We should release it once we've secured the complex, at worst case once we have the deed and process ownership of this shack its not threat! Like Dissa said lets push on, it even said it only guarded that room should someone manage to wake it!

This room hosts an impressive carved wooden stairway that descends from above. A comfortable fireplace flickers without warmth, and a moth-eaten rug hosts equally moth-eaten furniture. Rotting frames filled with tattered canvas cover the walls. The looming stone facade of the Old Wall comprises the room’s western wall, and a strange cagelike structure is built into the northwest corner.
A quick glance reveals the location of four more cult members, unsuccessfully hiding behind crates and the stairwell. When they realize you notice them they give a cry and move to fight.
