"I have no right to it to it?!" - Oloch seems veritably furious now - "We pried it from the long cold, dead hands of your cadaveric cohorts. Their defeat entitles us to the spoils fool!"
Shifting his position, the half-orc's greatsword swings around in a wide arc, the warpriest gathering as much momentum as he can - "Would you find yourself entitled to it? Then pry it from me!" - he finishes, divine power enpowering his ttacks.
Swift Action: Divine Favor.
Greatsword, flaming: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 13 + 2 = 18
Damage if it hits: 2d6 + 1d6 + 16 ⇒ (4, 2) + (3) + 16 = 25

GM Hmm |

Oloch swings a mighty flaming, blow... and misses.
Oloch, do you want to use that reroll from Jan?

GM Hmm |

The blind hieracosphinx attacks again at Oloch, the person who his master hates, the one with the big, scary looking flaming sword.
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 97
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 73
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 9
The bite misses Oloch's face by inches. Only one claw comes close to hitting; it misses at the last moment because the sphinx cannot fully tell where Oloch is, just that he's nearby.

Quinn, Jan and Crowe are up! Get him, guys!

Quinn misses. Oloch uses Jan's blessing, and slices the mummy in two with his flaming great sword. What remains of the Pharoah falls apart into a smoldering pile of embers and debris.
From the back, you hear Maurice. "Yeah! That Pharoah got his ash handed to him!"
The blind hieracosphinx mourning his lost master, shrieks menacingly in a high-pitched and grating chitter. "Rikachikriek Rieeek!"
ROUND TWO:
Archon, Quinn, Wadi, Oloch, Hieracosphinx (blind), Jan, Crowe, Pharoah
Jan and Crowe, you're up!
Poor, blind sphinx... Put it out of its misery, will you?

Crowe, Rager of the Society |

Crowe howls in fury and charges the blind sphinx with all his might!
+1 earthbreaker, power, bloodrage: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 11 + 2 + 3 = 34 for Blugeonning (Air and Good): 2d6 + 16 + 4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 16 + 4 = 24

GM Hmm |

Crowe hits the sphinx solidly, but it is still up!
And since it's the only bad guy left in the room....
Jan, Archon, Quinn, Wadi and Oloch are all up.

![]() |

Wadi steps closer to the action and lets loose another fiery ray at the sphinx.
Elemental Ray ranged touch, bless, melee: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 - 4 = 14; Fire damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

GM Hmm |

Wadi hits the blind and shiny sphinx (mainly because it no longer has a dex bonus to AC due to Wadi's glitterdust)!
It's still up, though there are large burning patches all over what's left of its flesh.

I'll call on the divine mists one more time to heal my allies.
Healing: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9

GM Hmm |

Archon only heals his allies, since this creature is undead.
Oloch, Jan and Quinn are up!

![]() |

Jan holds his ground, leaving room for Oloch to step into the sphinx, and attacks.
Desna shield me and my allies
Sacred Weapon, attack
Bash: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17DMG: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Bodyguard 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Bodyguard 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

PFS PreGen Character |

Slash: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 = 15
Quin moves in with his sword, slashing at the undead, but to no avail
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM Hmm |

Due to the Sphinx's blindness, not only does Jan hit the creature solidly with his shield, but so does Quinn and Quinn strikes the killing blow!
No DR and your minimum damage would have killed it. Thank Wadi for that glitterdust!
COMBAT OVER
As you guys examine what is left of the Pharoah and his pet, you discover that one body part of the Pharoah survived the burning, a mummified hand.
Detect Magic + Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
It's a functioning Hand of Glory. Zarta will love this.
_____________________________
You cautiously check out room 17, a guardroom adjacent to the Pharoah's, but Oloch, Crowe and Jan easily smash the Anubis construct guardians that had inhabited the room.
It wouldn't have been much of a fight. I'm hand-waiving it in the interest of time.
The treasures of the Pyramid are yours! Maurice ecstatically imitates one object after another in the Pharoah's room, clearly entranced by the workmanship. "I find the best stuff when I travel with you guys!"
The Pharoah's wooden sarcophagus is crafted of rare woods and embellished with gold leaf and precious inlays. The other grave goods in the burial chamber, consisting of clothing, furniture, jewelry, weapons, and other items for the pharaoh's use in the afterlife, are beautiful quality. Among them are two items of note: an engraved green gem and a tiny silver figurine of a sphinx.
Detect Magic + Spellcraft (Gem): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
The gem appears to be a periapt of wound closure, you detect that there's something wrong with it -- it's cursed and has an evil aura about it. Zarta would love it and have fun analyzing it further, but you don't want to touch the thing.
Detect Magic + Spellcraft (Figurine): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
The figurine is a silver sphinx figurine of wondrous power, a variant bronze griffon figurine of wondrous power that becomes a living, falcon-headed hieracosphinx when activated (use the stats for a griffon). The figurine otherwise functions as a bronze griffon figurine of wondrous power.

Lastly, transcriptions or rubbings of the hieroglyphs on the walls of the burial chamber can be sold to a historian interested in the details of Sekh-pa-Mefer's reign for a tidy sum.
Let me know if there's anything special you want to do in the Pyramid before I take you guys back to Sothis. Feel free to pause a moment and RP here while I compose your return.

"Maurice. It has been a privilege to travel and explore with you. I hope one day to do so again." he gives the mimic a nod and a bow

GM Hmm |

"You too, Bub. You guys kick ass, and learning the hieroglyphics has been great!" Maurice is examining a canopic jar, and adopts the jar's jackal head for his own as he gestures with a tentacle. "So, where do we go next?"

![]() |

He points out to the others the properties of the engraved green gem and a tiny silver figurine of a sphinx. "These items are quite valuable, but the gem is cursed I believe. We should still try to take it with us. I shudder to think what would happen if this item got left here." He looks to each of his compatriots. "Does anyone have a sealed box we could put the gem inside?"
To Maurice he says, "Well, it was certainly fun having you travel with us. we need to head back to Sothis now and I don't think your race would be welcome there. Plus I know you must still be hungry too. Still, if you do insist on traveling with us there may be a place for you at the Grand Lodge."

Maurice, it has been nice meeting you, if there is no place in Grand Lodge for you Zarta be happy to have you to protect things in the Dark Archive, many cool things to look at and she probably even keep you well fed, I hear she likes "pets". I no have box, but could slide it into a scroll case, would work no?

GM Hmm |

"I've been to Sothis before. Great architecture but their museums are kinda low-rent." Then Maurice perks up. "Dark Archive? That sounds interesting... Especially if there's food and cool things to look at. Who's Zarta?"

Wadi raises his eyebrows at Jan but says nothing to him. To Maurice he replies, "Zarta is in charge of the Dark Archive. It is the job of those in the Dark Archive to find and store dangerous magical items away so they do not harm unsuspecting users. We will need to return these items there once we return to Absalom." He smiles, "I am sure she would be delighted to talk with you!"

Way to steal my thunder Darkivists. :P
Making certain to catalogue as much as possible in the room, "I do have a magical bag that may suffice."[I], offering his Handy Haversack to hold the cursed gem.
"But seriously, my friend, while Zarta is, . . . special, and I'm certain there are those that might find her endeavor . . . worthy, there are many paths open to you, should you wish it. And to be honest, I'm not certain you would enjoy the, the,. . . the areas she might want you to explore. Trust me, it's is not, by far, and undiscovered country."
"Others, have different goals. Some benevolent, so not so. The group I fight for, we try to spread healing and goodness in the world. Sometimes by the sword, but other times by a kind gesture or a simple gift like the magic that allows you to read these hieroglyphs. If you think you are ready for the long challenge, the hard path, the Silver Crusade is an option."

Nice job, Wadi, Jan and Archon!
"No offense, glowy eyes." Maurice turns to Archon, studying him for a moment with one eyeball protruding from an eyestalk. "You've been great. Maybe some other monster will take the long challenge and the hard path, but that's not me." Then Maurice turns to Jan and Wadi, tentacles quivering with excitement. "Did you just say dangerous magic items? Awesome! Count me in!"
Maurice helps you sort treasure and pack up the place. Tentacles flying everywhere, he either tosses things into piles or hands it off to someone to pack. "Huh. Rubbish. Rubbish. Ooh, niiiice! Rubbish. Rubbish..."
With his assistance, or perhaps despite it, you're soon on your way. Maurice travels as another piece of luggage, sitting on top of one of the camels. Once again, you travel by night, sleep by the day, and you make good time despite the oppressive heat and the extreme grumpiness and uncomfortable gait of your mounts.
It's only after unpacking the first of your camels at the Pathfinder Lodge in Sothis that you hear a ruckus coming from the stables -- screaming, stampeding camels and Maurice's voice saying, "Woo hoo! Stick with papa!"
You rush back into the stables, and find Maurice happily feeding, one camel leg sticking out of his mouth. "What? We were done with them, right?"

GM Hmm |

That's when Venture Captain Norden Balentiir, attracted by all the ruckus, shows up. "Hells." He scowls. "What is that thing and why are we letting it eat our camel rental deposit?"
At first astounded by your protective relationship with 'Momo', Balentiir eventually calms down when confronted by the evidence of your success in bringing back the riches and relics of Pharoah Sekh-pa-Mefr. It helps when Maurice offers to replicate the shape of some of the things that were too heavy to bring back.
"Dark Archives, huh?" Balentiir still eyes Maurice dubiously. "Well, if anyone can deal with cursed gems and a Mimic Pathfinder, it'll be Zarta. Given the nature of your find and our new mon... colleague, I think it best if I ship you back to Absalom right away, don't you?"
"Can I have one more camel for the road?" Maurice asks.
"Sure. Why not. I'll find some way to buy off Uncle Abdul." Balentiir sighs. "He may never rent to our lodge again..."
And so, fresh from your victory against the Pharoah, and bringing back wonders to Absalom, you take the next ship out.
