Wadi casts a quick cantrip and looks over the scroll. He then hands it to Archon. "Searing Light spell. May be useful against any undead we encounter here...like the Pharaoh."

Ready to move on here.

Oh, don't get me wrong, a divine scroll of NOT Cure/Remove/Restoration found in play is amazing. It's unheard of in PFS play. Was just trying to insert a bit of threat and danger to the game.

@ DM, you should add that into the Review. More scrolls for Divine Casters, less healing stuff.

You return to the "False Door," which claims to be a gate between the realm of the living and the dead.

Standard Door Operating Procedure:

Perception, Archon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Perception, Crowe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Perception, Jan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Perception, Oloch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Perception, Quinn: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17 Plus 2 vs. Traps
Perception, Wadi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

None of you think it's trapped, so you move through.

An elaborately decorated sarcophagus stands among the heaped treasures and offerings in this burial chamber. Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs on the walls proclaim this to be the tomb of Pharaoh Sekh-pa-Mefer III, the Pharaoh of Sphinxes.

Knowledge History DC 15:
You already found the Puzzle Door, deep within the tomb. You know this must be a False Tomb.

Knowledge History DC 30:
To safeguard the secrets of his tomb's traps and defenses, Sekh-pa-Mefer had the pyramid's architect killed, then reanimated the architect's body to serve as an additional guardian, placing it within this false tomb to distract would-be tomb robbers from the pharaoh's true burial chamber deeper inside the pyramid.

GM Rolls:

Perception, Archon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Perception, Crowe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Perception, Jan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Perception, Oloch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Perception, Quinn: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Perception, Wadi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
1d6 ⇒ 1

Archon + Oloch:
The western side of the secret door leading into this chamber is engraved with a series of five carvings; a successful DC 15 Perception check allows a character to notice them. The carvings depict, from top to bottom, a human man, a human woman, a ram, a jackal, and a falcon.

While you're all contemplating this information...

A mummy bursts out of the sarcophagus.

Eek!:

Will, Archon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Will, Crowe: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Will, Wadi: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Will, Maurice: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
1d6 ⇒ 6

A frightening aura emanates from the mummy, which most of the party shakes off. Both Crowe and Wadi are frightened for a round.

Knowledge History or Nobility DC 20:
That isn't the Pharoah. The jewelry and trappings are all wrong.

Knowledge Religion DC 18:

Rahotep means "He who satisfies (follows) Ra."

Knowledge History, DC 25:
It was not uncommon for the architects and artisans who worked on tombs to be sacrificed and interred within the very tombs they created, in order to keep the location and defenses of a tomb secret.

Jan think good place to rest, but need guard rotations. Also, can use any of my gear to set up noisemaker trap on door if someone wants. I take any watch but prefer first or last.

I have some rope and pitons and other stuff that could be used to make noise if anything tries to get in.

When we rest Jan will take off his armor and need help donning it in the morning, but better than being fatigued

Wadi runs back to the party only to find the combat already finished. Seeing as no one needs his services he glances around before unpacking his bedroll and laying it on the cold stone floor. "I agree, we should have watches. I would prefer to take the first watch. Also I do like your idea of setting up a trap here as well." He turns to face the mimic Maurice, "Do you need any food? We don't really have anything a mimic would consider edible, unless there are some rats or scorpions lurking about."

Look upon my works, and remember me.

"Very well" - Oloch nods to Jan, as the names referred by Quinn mean nothing to him - "Let us make camp, and set up watches - I can take any of them as preferred. Any details on that amulet?"

Maurice tries a few of your rations, but they don't excite him. "There are some lizards and bugs down here. They make okay appetizers, I guess. If only undead didn't taste of rot and dust. Bleargh."

Gang, I hate to do this to you but I looked at the list of encounters remaining in this adventure, and I'm rolling us forward in time with my next post. Feel free to retcon your preparations and any discussions you want to still have (including on the mysterious Rahotep) in flex-time spoilers. Or better yet, have those discussions as you're traveling through the rest of the tomb!

Just because this is a dungeon crawl doesn't mean we have to forgo RP. I'd love to see even more!

You have a restful night's sleep. Those of you on watch have heated debates about the nature of art with Maurice. The only issue any of you faced was when Maurice playfully triggered the noisemakers shortly after everyone went to bed. You managed to explain to him that he shouldn't do that again...

The next morning you all successfully have your morning meditations, prepare your spells, put back on armor and eat an excellent breakfast from the rations that had been purchased in Sothis before leaving: tightly packed flatbreads, garlicky hummus, crunchy falafel balls, olives, preserved dates, and dried fruit.

After making all your preparations, you journey through the southern concealed door. Eventually, the hallway opens up into a large cavernous chamber [10]. Two woven reed boats sit end-to-end in this chamber, covered in a thick layer of dust. Carvings on the walls depict naval expeditions and boats bearing tribute for the pharaoh.

Knowledge History, DC 20:
These boats were interred in the pyramid along with the deceased pharaoh to carry him and his retinue in the afterlife.

You watch warily for undead, constructs and traps but don't spot anything. Nothing is currently attacking you. Do you disturb anything, or do you just walk cautiously through?

You have no idea. Are you going to roll to see if you know anything about it?

Wadi, put on ring, I take damage for you.

Jan hands Wadi a nice looking platinum ring and casts Shield Other. He also prepared Align Weapon in place of Water Walk, Communal since we're in the desert.
