Andruss Delsine |
"See?", Andruss pointed to Brunhilde's direction.
"Now, can you tell us the truth, please?"
The Man Behind the Curtain |
She looks around nervously, and after noting Brunhilde's anger, she lowers her head and whispers "The Shadow Lodge..."
She put out both hands in a position offering herself to be manacled. "...it's all I know... and more than I should have said. I'm your prisoner, deal with me as you will."
Fingalad Eldahir |

"This betrayal is discouraging and must be addressed. We should tie her up, knock her out and leave her here. We can come back to deal with her properly later. We have already delayed too long in returning to the lodge."

The Man Behind the Curtain |
Suddenly, a great flash of blinding light erupts over the city and, for a moment, there is silence. Then another terrible explosion rocks the city. An enormous black dragon can be seen circling above the Grand Lodge, near the ghostly light pillar. He roars and plunges toward the light. If any of you are still engaged in combat, your enemies flee toward the Grand Lodge—it seems the flash of light and the explosion were a signal.
With the barricade having been breached by the pathfinders, the local constabulary joins the fray, helping the wounded and escorting citizens through safely. Any of them would gladly accept a prisoner.
Defying all recent memory, the Grand Lodge’s great steel gates stand closed and fast. Now silent, the façade is heavily scarred with claw marks and acid burns. A long crack divides the arch above the doors, splitting the glyph of the open road. On the ground below, the shattered bodies of half a dozen men and women lie in the dust.
With you are dozens of pathfinders of all ranks. While the toughest and most experienced looking pathfinders appear to have no issue passing over the gates, it is understood that without all of you, today may prove to be a disaster. The gates appear to be locked, and the locking mechanism has been destroyed. It will take immense strength, or an army of locksmiths to open the gates to allow all pathfinders through.
How do you wish to deal with the gates? See the overseer announcement for cross-table discussion.
Andruss Delsine |
"I think we won't have time to tie her, Fingalad", Andruss says when sees/hears the explosions and the dragon.
Francois Laurent Rosin |
"My Gabrielle has a small amount of skill in overcoming locks. She certainly can provide her expertise in zhe matter.
Mon petite, coordinate your activities with others so zhat you don't make matters worse, wi?"
Fingalad Eldahir |
*oui?
unfortunately I cannot think of an obvious way for Fingalad to contribute here.
"Francois, while we wait, will you use my healing wand to heal me?"

Brunhilde Olafsdottir |
A lock you say...lemme see!
apparently the brutish Ulfen made has a penchant for mechanics.
DD 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
So do we communicate our results to other tables or how does this work?
Balzanno |
Balzanno stops just short of the massive gate and observes as nearly a hundred Pathfinders form semi-circles, with various "roguish types" and engineers taking a look at the lock.
"So uh, maybe Frank-err, Frans-Wah can summon something to like batter dese down?"
Balzanno scratches his head, as thinking too hard can hurt.
"Or, uh somethin' dat can flies us over? Or maybe somethin' dat lets us climb like a spider?"
"Best I gots is dis earthbrakker..."
Balzanno heads over and gives the gates a push with the dozens of other "strong types" doing so.
Strength (assist DC10): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
The Man Behind the Curtain |
You see that one of the higher ranking pathfinders has ordered a massive serpent to begin shoving on the gates, while many other more dexterous types are inspecting the keyhole.
Brunhilde, you take a look at the lock and much to your chagrin (and relief for that matter) it appears that the Grand Lodge of Absalom is certainly well protected enough to keep a few thieves away.
The table to table chat lets you coordinate with others, but I'll be delivering the final info the the overseer GM. Aid another on strength checks or disable device will be reported, along with any creative solutions. So far I've got 1 aid for disable, and 1 for strength.
Fingalad Eldahir |
Peribras would have been more useful here
strength, aid another: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Fingalad adds a swing from his own earth breaker to attempt to batter the door down

"As much as I am a fan of plowing through things, this is a pretty significant gate. If we can't got through it, maybe we can dig a hole under it?"
Andruss Delsine |
I'm thinking in cast Web at the Gate's entry. What do you think?
Francois Laurent Rosin |
^oui, heh. phone auto-correct is funny. based on the previous post, I'm assuming Gabby taps the DD assist. (+12)
"Absolument, Monsieur Eldahir. My apologies, in the rush from zhe stadium, I did not get an opportunity to tend to your wounds.
Monsieur Balzano, sadly I cannot call such aid and still receive the support of Gabrielle. Though with the assistance of so many pathfinders, I do not think zhat we will need to exhaust every method at our disposal, no?"
Francois takes Fingalad's wand and uses it on him, then hands it back.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
***************
One group of more mechanically minded pathfinders move to the locking mechanism and start tinkering with it aided by a liberal application of grease, a number of ropes are thrown to the top and people begin clambering up the walls. In another location, another group try brute force and trying to smash their way through. A stone bridge appears out of nowhere, then the flap of wings as a giant roc arrives to pluck people up and drop them on the far side - allowing them to form a defensive perimeter….
Within a minute, the outer gates give way to the small army of ninety highly motivated Pathfinders and their sheer brute force, magic, and mechanical knowledge.
GM take over :)
Fingalad Eldahir |
Fingalad bows thankfully to Francois as he taps Fingalad twice with the wand.
CLW, wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

CLW, wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Then he readies an arrow in his Longbow as he moves into the grand lodge.

The Man Behind the Curtain |
Defending Skyreach, a valiant group of Pathfinders line the towers and stations along the fortress's exterior. On the grounds in front, a large black dragon lies in a crumpled heap, its corpse riddled with arrows and leaking acid and ichor.
As soon as you reach the front gate of the keep, a small squad of six goblins comes barreling out, screaming and fleeing what sounds to be a fight from inside the lodge itself.
I'm not going to put up a map for this since it's open ground with goblins charging you in a line formation from 30 ft away. The 4th page shows where the party currently is on the lodge grounds.

The Man Behind the Curtain |
Balzanno's swing is way to slow for the sure-footed goblins, but Andruss is easily able to catch three of them in the wave of flame, narrowly avoiding Balzanno at the tip of the cone.
Save DC should be 12 on the wand. 10 + spell level + minimum ability mod required to cast (1)

Andruss Delsine |
Well, to cast a level 1 spell, you need a minimum ability score equal to 11 (10 + spell level), the ability modifier of 11 is 0, so, the DC is 11 (10 + spell level (1) + mod. of the minimum ability score needed to cast that level of spell (0))
Francois Laurent Rosin |
"Zhese things again? Zhis is getting tiresome!"
Francois casts acid splash at the same goblin as Andruss.

The Man Behind the Curtain |
Henrick and Brunhilde both step forward and begin to go to work clearing the remaining goblins. Henrick's throwing axe lands a solid blow, and between the axe and the flames, the goblin succumbs to its wounds. Brunhilde's target is a little luckier as it's end is much more swift.
The last injured goblin gives into its more cravenly instincts and flees towards the gate.
Gabrielle finishes her charge, and leaves Andruss's assailant a crumpled heap on the ground, and the last goblin staring down Balzanno seems like it's looking to run.
Does anyone wish to give chase or let them book it into the waiting hands (and blades) of most of the city watch?
Andruss Delsine |
No chase for me. Maybe Fingalad can hit the fugitive with his bow.
Fingalad Eldahir |
Fingalad will take a shot or two given the chance, but no chase

Wedged into one of Skyreach’s darkened doorways is the enigmatic Pathfinder, Osprey. He’s paler than usual, several arrows pierce his skin, and his hands are smeared with blood. “I have little time to speak; however, I must now burden you with a suspicion that is now a reality.” Lowering his voice to a soft hiss he whispers, “The Shadow Lodge is real.”
Fingalad Eldahir |
whoops, didn't realize I didn't post earlier.
Fingalad nods, grimacing. "Yes, we interrogated one of the attackers on our way here and she told us. Do you need healing?"
Fingalad Eldahir |
Fingalad nods. "Let's move." He begins to move stealthily in the direction of the mausoleum.

"Oui, Monsieur Balzanno."
Francois uses Balzanno's wand. He pulls out a wand of his own and motions Gabrielle over.
"Do not look at me like that, mon petite. You were never in any danger!"
