To no one's surprise, Francois seems bored and disdainful of both the performance and the crowd's reaction to it. His heavy winded sighs, interspersed throughout the evening, are cause for annoyance.
Partway through the evening, he's begun rolling cigarettes; tobacco and several ruined rolling papers lie scattered at his feet.
Leaning over to Brunhilde during what he thought was intermission, but turned out to be an excessively long quite point in the performance, Francois offers the sorry looking product.
"Smoke, mademoiselle? I do not think that dis performance will offer much more entertainment than what a cigarette provides."
Andruss Delsine
|
Andruss doesn't show much interest in the initial presentation, worrying more to observe the reaction of spectators around, especially those in the Field seats.
When Charvion appears and shows his "trick", the witch grins with curiosity.
"Let's see which will be the most stupid request"
And he keep watching around, standing alert.

@The Man Behind the Curtain: How far are we from Charvion?
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Charvion is roughly in the center of the arena right now.
Several aides begin walking up and down the stairs looking for people with questions for Charvion. One of them stops by your group, thinks for a moment, shrugs, then walks towards the edge of the arena, and repeats Balzano's comment.
Charvion's voice emanates from within the strange device. "The grandmother of... Little Balzy? Really? She says it's OK if he's too busy to talk, and she knows that he has lots of more important things to do than talk to his old Grannie. She wants to make sure that you are eating well and.... ok, that's enough, need to move on to others."
@Andruss, what are you looking for?
Andruss Delsine
|
@The Man Behind the Curtain Andruss is alert to possible people lurking, preparing an ambush, covertly casting an offensive spell, anyone with harmful attitude, these kind of things. He is looking around them and trying to see at Charvion's range too. I asked the distance, because I'm thinking in send Paccolo to get close and inspect Charvion and his toy.
Andruss Delsine

Paccolo seeps through the crowd and will observe Charvion's activities more closely.

Can you see through your familiar's eyes?
Nearby you see several people flagging down the aides to ask questions of Charvion. A female Aasimar nearby eventually stands up and calls out towards the center.
"What does my father think of me joining the Pathfinders?"
A few minutes later, Charvion turns and faces her general direction, and addresses her.
"Your father... the spirits beyond cannot ascertain the thoughts of the living, yet I see some of those connected to your past reaching..."
"There is a sense from them of disappointment of you choosing the path of a Pathfinder... concern that you will fall victim to the same temptations as your peers, heeding not a straight and moral path...."
He continues to be barraged with questions, most of which appear to be about the well being of dead relatives, or inquiries as to the whereabouts of various inheritances.
Andruss Delsine

@The Man Behind the Curtain not yet. But I have this:
Henrick Bulwark
|
"Oy! Ask em... ask em if my cousin Gunther ever found the answer about his crystal that he died seeking?"
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
Someone down in the expensive seats below asks a question that is difficult to hear, and he quickly responds.
"A nobleman with a six fingered right hand is the one who killed your family!"
The crowd begins to erupt in cheers, jeers, and accusations for a moment, then get overwhelmed by the urge to ask more questions.
Across the way, a gnome stands up and shouts over the din.
"What happened to Aroden?"
He seems to be taking a bit of time to mull over the gnomes question, and moves on to Henrick's question, answering in a wavering tone as though flickering between magical amplification, and his natural booming voice.
"There is many a Gunther here... Many of which are dwarves. Unfortunately an awful lot of the slain dwarves here died in the pursuit of lost treasures, but I do not detect any voices here with a personal connection."
There is a short pause, and then he continues in a more normal voice. "I will tell you this though on their behalf. You had best make sure your pursuit of wealth does not prevent you from living a life spent enjoying it. Although half of them seem to disagree with that sentiment... Actually there are 5 dwarves named Gunther yelling at me right now and 6 different opinions on the subject."
Henrick Bulwark
|
Henrick looks to the others, and shrugs. "Any ideas?"
The Man Behind the Curtain
|
The gnome across the way manages to get her voice heard by Charvion who launches into a rather vague yet enlightening discourse on the subject.
Fingalad Eldahir
|
Fingalad continues to watch, looking generally uncomfortable. "The dead should be left to the dead." He says to himself.
As the show goes on he becomes increasingly skeptical, and so begins to find the show amusing-- or rather, he begins to find the crowd amusing. The twinkle creeps back into his eye, and the smile to the edge of his lips. He scowls whenever the bone-eater draws the focus of his attention.

Up to you, if he is here his movement will be severely restricted. He'd probably be off to the side getting a lot of glares. If you want to have him waiting outside of the stadium he is conveniently at whatever exit you will inevitably go towards. It's probably easier if he's outside, but I don't know how insistent Henrick would be on getting him in, and considering the vast number of Pathfinders here, I'd assume that the Irorium guards are used to odd if completely impractical requests. I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of the other tables has a dinosaur animal companion chilling at the food stand.

A halfling a few rows back pipes up. "Hey mister! Down in front! I can't see with you standin up like that!"
A few awkward moments go by... and nothing happens.
Paccolo slowly begins his return, careful to avoid being trodden on. Charvion continues answering questions from the audience, but knowing his tenuous control, you begin to suspect that some of the bravado in his voice is there to disguise something else.
But minutes go by and the device remains under his control. A few more questions come from the crowd and a few vague answers, and one or two oddly specific answers are given. Specific questions about family members are often answered with vague cliches, but some more general questions about nearby haunts often are answered with curious clarity and description.
A nearby Dwarf pipes up and yells. "Any of those Gunthers you talk to find any treasures nearby? I could use a good haul with little travel!" He gives a booming laugh and the audience begins to chuckle. Charvion goes silent for several seconds and then begins slowly. "There is much undiscovered on this island. Pained cries of the dead tell of a fortress very nearby with chambers yet to be breached. A fortification... a redoubt they call it. Colored crimson, and home to great danger and wealth."
Several in the audience seem to be taking notes.

A man in torn clothes is walking up and down the aisle carrying a pair of tongs and a large box labeled 'Meat Pies.' "Come get your meat pies! Only 3c apiece! Come get your meat pies!"
A goofy looking tiefling nearby looks quizzically at him. "Wha kinda meat?"
The man looks a bit annoyed by the comment. "'S meat. Th' kind doesn't matter. I'll give you two for 5c, and that's cutting me own throat!"
The tiefling shrugs, takes a pair of the meals and scarfs them down.
Nearby a half-elf comments "This has been a very intriguing performance, quite a nice day, good weather. Would be a shame if something were to spoil it..."

The Man Behind the Curtain

A bit of both. The quoted stuff came from other tables.
The meat pie salesman smiles and begins to walk over before you all hear a low drone begin. His brow furrows and he cocks his head looking around.
A low, droning horn suddenly rises over the cacophonous throng. Soon after, it is joined by a second horn, then a third, then dozens.

The Man Behind the Curtain

A massive black dragon dives through the center of the Irorium, spewing gouts of acid onto the arena floor. She heads straight for the small stage where Charvion stands within the cage. Striking with both claws, she plucks the artifact free from the base, shattering the stage and sending remnants of the mock ruins everywhere. The creature lifts into the air, with Charvion clinging to the bars and screaming in terror. The great beast continues her flight, winging off toward the Grand Lodge. A few short moments later, rattling explosions shake the city and a shimmering column of pale, silvery light shoots up out of the grounds of the Grand Lodge and into the night sky.
The dark splotches in the sky get closer and closer and all of a sudden you can see through the haze and smoke that a throng of dragons are approaching the Irorium! One of them buzzes just over head and from its back fall 3 screaming goblins! The crowd goes nuts trying to stampede out of the arena.
Crowds are shoving all over to escape, so everything is difficult terrain and you'll be moving at half speed. Additionally, if you want to ascend or descend through the benches, you'll need a DC 10 acrobatics check, DC 5 if you wish to move up at quarter speed. If you use the stairs, no acrobatics check is required and you move at half speed as per usual for difficult terrain. On your first turn of combat, also let me know what your prep round actions were. The dragons approach fast, swoop in from under the cover of the arena, then blaze by overhead quickly, dropping the goblins on the way.
All around the Irorium more mobs of goblins are dropped, and globs of acid bathe unlucky folk attempting to escape. In the center, several of the dragons land and begin causing mass panic amongst the nobles in the field. Brave pathfinders all throughout the stadium begin to engage the goblins and defend the escaping crowd before working their way out as well. In the middle, a group of nearly a dozen pathfinders each take half of the field, preparing the hold the line against the dragons themselves.
Round 1:

25 - Armored Goblin
17 - Blue Goblin
16 - Francois

Balzanno perks up at the sound of the horns.
"Finally! Some action! Wonder if it's da Aspis, or some bad guy comin' t' get his artee-fact back!"
Flexing his muscles, you observe as Balzanno's limbs get longer and wiry.
Round 1: Cast Long Arm. Move down as far as possible towards field.
Rounds 2-3: Continue moving down towards and onto field.
Acrobatics (if it helps get to the field faster): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

"Bravery is good to see, but let's not get crazy. I think we need to keep an eye on out target... and each other's backs. Leave the real foes to those skilled warriors."
