Full Round Action
Flying charge against Bugbear #2 by moving 75 feet. Current AC 35 l T 13 l FF 34 until my next turn.
Single Attack Action: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 16 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 2 = 31

GM: I think you missed my second use of Lay on Hands at the end of the previous fight which put me at full health. Also my fly speed is 40 feet due to wearing heavy armor.

42 moves to line up 1, 2 and 4 before he lets a lightning bolt rip from his hands and straight through those three. Reflex for half of 17
damage: 10d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 2, 5, 2, 1, 1, 4, 4) = 29
But, being water logged before has apparently had an effect on his spark.

GM: I think you missed my second use of Lay on Hands at the end of the previous fight which put me at full health. Also my fly speed is 40 feet due to wearing heavy armor.
Noted. I've bumped you back to full hp.
42 lines up 3 of the bugbears for a lightning bolt, and fires.

Bugbear 2 catches the lightning bolt square in the chest, but this ends up dispersing the lightning just a little for the next 2 in line to avoid some of the electricity.
Rhon follows up with an axe to Bugbear2 and tears a decent gash in his arm. Meanwhile, Alden and Naala laboriously paddle a little closer to shore.

Hrm, let's try that again.

Matamah casts another Confusion. DC 24 Will, this time at 5, 6, and 7.

He moves a little bit closer to the action.
He stops his battle song, but it still lingers on!

Itamar will Dimensional Hop 60' straight up on the map, not in the air. I may have miscounted but that should put me directly in line with Rand as a move action. he then casts Chain of Perdition 10' behind Hobby #4

All 3 of the bugbears start to look a little glassy-eyed.
Rand concentrates his ki once more and his skin toughens like bark. Itamar conjures a chain that gets in the face of BB4 and momentarily steals his vision.
Not to be deterred, the bugbears press their attack as best they can.

BB1 and BB2 flail ineffectively at the heavily armored Rand and Rhon. BB3 and BB4 start stabbing at each other in their mutual confusion, drawing blood! BB5 smacks himself in the face while BB6 babbles incoherently to himself. BB7 and BB8 continue to try to gang up on the surrounded Rand, but all the chaos around them is breaking their concentration and they simply do not hit. One of the bugbears starts barking orders to the others, and a few of them break formation to try a different plan of attack.
But in the mean time, our heroes get to act.

I will assume 42 and Rhon focus on the same target.
42 goes invisible and double-teams one of the confused bugbears with Rhon. It is not his most skillful attack, but with the bugbear not being able to see the magus, the attack connects. Rhon's follow-up leaves the bugbear severely wounded, but still conscious.

Didn't i just go? I took my AoO and then move after BB8 and attacked.
Yeah, we're now doing the actions after your action.
Rhon takes a piece out of BB1 as he flies away, and another when he catches up to BB1.
Meanwhile, Alden and Naala paddle onwards towards the shore...
Round 5
Matamah (-49)(swim 30) ------ <-------- we are here in the initiative order
Rand (-29) (Fly 60)------
Itamar (-5)(Swim 30) ------ Chain (9)
BB1 (-30)(Fly?) ------
BB2 (-115)(Fly?) ------ Confused (8) Unconscious
BB3 (-37)(Fly?) ------ Confused (8)
BB4 (-100)(Fly?) ------ Confused (8) Unconscious
BB5 (-118)(Fly?) ------ Confused (9) Unconscious
BB6 (-38)(Fly?) ------ Confused (9)
BB7 (-14)(Fly?) ------ Confused (9)
BB8 (-47)(Fly?) ------
42 (-15) (Fly 60)------ invisible(10) CHill touch (9)
Rhon (-) (Fly 60) ------
Alden (-/-) ------
And we are now starting round 5, with Matamah, Rand and Itamar up for actions before the bugbears try to eat Matamah for breakfast.
Warning! I estimated that by the time you flew from the dragon encounter to the shore, you would have about 8 rounds of flying left. I'll round it up to 10, so you have 5 rounds of flying left. If the bugbears are still standing by the end of that duration, this fight is going to get a little more tricky for you...

Hrm...interesting.
I would like for Matamah to make a sense motive on what is happening with that. I'll even give up my move action for it.
Non-Action
Matamah 5-foot swims back. He also stops his battle song, but it lingers on!
Standard Action
He tries to defend himself by casting Mirror Image.
Images: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 - 5 images plus himself.
REMEMBER: INSPIRE COURAGE +3 (+3 to weapon attack rolls and weapon damage rolls)

Rand will use a move action to renew his flight like ability and then hit #6 once, then use a ki point and a swift action to attack him again.

Entangle: 1d20 + 13 + 8 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 8 + 3 = 43
I totally screwed up on his attacks on the last two

FiddlersGreen |

Sorry for the delay in updates, guys. Weekend was busy.
Matamah ascertains that these bugbears are not under any other charm or compulsion effects apart from the confusion that he cast upon some of them.
Rand clobbers BB6, but he doesn't go down yet.
Itamar finally manages to wrap BB6 up in his chains, making him an easier target.
BB1 is momentarily taken aback by the sudden appearance of the extra Matamahs. He briefly considers his options, then decides that Matamah is still the easiest target since he can't quite see 42.
attack roll: 1d20 + 17 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 17 - 3 = 26 images: 1d6 ⇒ 5
attack roll: 1d20 + 12 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 12 - 3 = 20 images: 1d5 ⇒ 4
He savages two of the Matamahs, which wink out of existence.
BB3 confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 33
BB6 confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 5
BB7 confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 73
BB3 and BB7 start debating philosophy with an imaginary opponents. BB7 gets angry with his opponent and swings his spear wildly, only to smack himself in the face.
damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
BB6 on the other hand is less interested in such subtleties and tries to drive his point (of his spear) directly into Rand's head instead.
attack roll: 1d20 + 17 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (20) + 17 - 2 - 3 = 32
confirmation roll: 1d20 + 17 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 17 - 2 - 3 = 26
attack roll: 1d20 + 12 - 2 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 12 - 2 - 3 = 23
damage roll: 1d8 + 13 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 9 = 28
Despite being entangled, he manages a lucky strike that tears an angry wound across Rand's forehead.
Finally, BB8 joins BB1 in focusing on Matamah before he befuddles more of their allies.
attack roll: 1d20 + 17 - 3 ⇒ (18) + 17 - 3 = 32 images: 1d4 ⇒ 1
attack roll: 1d20 + 12 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 12 - 3 = 20 images: 1d4 ⇒ 3
damage roll: 1d8 + 13 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 13 + 9 = 29
He hits two of the Matamahs - one of them disppears, the other one bleeds!

Rhon (-) (Fly 60) ------
Alden (-/-) ------
Not a bad round for them. Despite a poor start due to all the confusion, they are finally doing some real damage.
42, Rhon and Alden are up for round 5, the rest of you are up for round 6.

Matamah realises that the bugbears are targeting him, so he retreats beneath the waves. Rand fumbles his first punch, but his next one sends BB6 into the water. Spinning around, he flies feet-first into BB8 and slams two fists into the bugbear.
Meanwhile, Itamar's chain whips around to BB7, entangling him.
BB1 roars in anger as his intended target slips away and he is assaulted by Rand once more. With a furious roar, he turns on Rand and stabs at him with his spear.

BB1's attack on Rand is vicious and sudden, and the spear speeds for his throat, but at the very last second, Rand sneezes, wrenching his throat just in time to avoid his windpipe from getting impaled. He feels like a fortunate soldier today! I will assume you use your jingasa here, because otherwise...well, you'd be dead.
confusion BB3: 1d100 ⇒ 21

Now that it has finally caught your direct attention, you realise that the bugbears' wounds are closing slowly but surely! (You might also have noticed that I was giving the bugbears back some hit points each round.)
All of you are up again! Take down those bugbears...but how!?

Rhon recovers his bearings after falling out of the sky. He flies up out of the water and over to shore taking up a position next to Alden.
Bugbear #6 may take and AoO if he wishes.

![]() |

Have any of them landed yet? Alternatively, can someone cast fly on Naala? LOL

FiddlersGreen |

Well, one of them just tried to stab you in the face, Alden. It looked like Rand knocked him out, and he splashed into the water, but a few seconds later he came right back out of the water.

![]() |

Alden yells orders at Rhon, then he and Naala help Rhondodge and attack the monster.
Using my Swift and Naala's Standard to aid attack rolls (+8), my Standard to grant everyone within 30 feet the Escape Route teamwork feat, and my Move action to grant Rhon soft cover against ranged attacks (20% miss chance). Then on up to 4 attacks, he and Naala will give Rhon +16 AC thanks to Bodyguard.
