Daeris decides to use the same tactic she did with one of the anchors. "Why do you believe that returning to this time will change anything? This is Earthfall. What would it matter if we all agreed to help you build your new world? We've got a few hours to accomplish something before the Starstone turns this whole place into the crater that will become the Inner Sea. Everyone here now will die, everything we create here will shortly be destroyed. If it's possible to save Aroden, if he even died as some believe, it happens to him 9000 years hence from this time. Just what do you intend to do about that from here?"
Daeris scoffs, letting her disgust come through clearly. "I despise human-kind. You infest Golarion like vermin, recklessly enacting half-baked plans with no thought to the consequences. Building your cities with no regard for the effect on the natural world. But even I can see the redeeming qualities that some of you possess. You reject stagnation, always moving forward. Always adapting to new challenges. Perhaps Aroden recognized that prophecy is merely another yoke that fate would bind you to and cast off his god-hood to prevent seeing his people bound by chains of gold. Clearly you are not all as adaptable as he would have hoped." She arched a judgmental eyebrow at Lady Arodeth.

That looks like a lead roll to me! Anyone want to aid the Bluff?
Lady Arodeth swallows. "You think... you think Aroden did this to us deliberately? That he abandoned us and his duties to make us better?"

"Abandoned might not be the right word. Perhaps sacrificing himself could be a better way to put it. He might have thought the world had become too reliant on him. By allowing himself to move on, maybe Golarion could do the same..."

Ely rolls her eyes at Daeris' needling at humanity, but sees Lady Arodeth starting to waver. She adds, "Although Aroden did not return, humanity has still risen to a place of prominence. We saw humans enslaved by serpentfolk in the distant past, but think of our accomplishments now! Despite Aroden's absence, look what you have managed! Perhaps we don't need his guidance anymore - the god of humanity is dead, but we have flourished!"
Bluff aid, minimum 13

GM Hmm |

Arodeth's hands tremble. "Perhaps you are right. Our accomplishments are myriad... If only we had a world sensible enough to make use of them..." She looks distraught.
You have succeeded at three skills so far. What will you try next?

GM Hmm |

To negotiate successfully with Arodeth, you will need 5 successful skill checks total in any of the following: Diplomacy, Bluff, Heal, Knowledge Religion, Nobility, History, Perform (any), Profession (any) or Sense Motive.
Making this Sense Motive check counts as one of your successes. Congratulations.

Ely catches Lady Arodeth's trembling, looking from her to the magic swirling around her. They're close. If only she knew what would push the Harbingers' leader over the edge...

If Reesa can tell the others what she's found out, she's happy to do so. Not sure if any of us are trained in the other skills than what we have tried so far. Suggestions?

GM Hmm |

Sure. Share it in character.

Orin carefully listens to Lady Arodeth, his draconic senses working overtime.

Orin glances over at Reesa, both their brains ticking the same way. Orin leaves the glory of explaining to Reesa however.
Balon also has a good know: nobility although we can't help much. Performs are usable untrained and we're fairly charismatic so that could also be a good choice.

Sense Motive, FE: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 1 + 4 = 19 Does it count for each of us that makes it?

![]() |

Reesa jumps on board with the Heal attempt. "I doubt any studies have been done on the effects of such primal magic to your system. It might just explode at some point. Do you feel strange? Maybe that's a warning sign. Getting all that bad magic out would be good, I'd think."
Aid another Heal 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

GM Hmm |

The woman bemoans, “I am a fool. All I wanted was a world that made sense! But this magic... I can feel it undoing everything that I am. My anchors have gone mad, and perhaps, I've gone mad too. I've led most of them to either their deaths, or those of your comrades. There is blood on my hands. I need to make amends as best I can, and hope I'm not too late!”
Tears stream down her face and she whispers, “I let it go. I let it all go…” The green light swirls upward, spiraling up out of her mouth.
“I have learned something of these controls, and I fear the damage my Heralds and I have inflicted in our zealotry has damaged your Sky Key. It now acts less as a projector and instead like a bridge… And a bridge must be anchored at both ends. For any of you to return now, something—someone—must remain behind or else the path home will collapse. “I have earned this fate. As I said before, I can think of no finer way to die than in the fiery cataclysm that spurs on Lord Aroden's journey to divinity. It will never be enough to make up for the blood we have shed here, Pathfinders, but know that I truly regret what I have done here today.”
A VAULT SUCCESS, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE OF ALL! YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY NEGOTIATED WITH LADY ARODETH!
She puts her hands on the controls, then realizes something important... "There are too many of my colleagues out there still anchoring the dome. I can't send you all home until they release the energy they hold!"

![]() |

"Well then, we will have to go help them release more energy. I am joyful to see that you understand the situation now, my lady. It is an honor to work with you."
With that, Balon looks to the group to move out and find more energy-conduit-people.

GM Hmm |

Just as you turn to the door, three of the Lady Arodeth simulcra burst through the entrance, blocking your path! The women look very angry and turn as one towards you. “Now that my temporal magic is gone, I can’t control them anymore!” Lady Arodeth cries as she tries to manage the controls of the Sky Key. “They seek to protect this chamber from non-Harbingers at all costs! I'll let everyone discuss and declare positioning until 4:00pm Central Time, when I'll start moving the next wave in. That way, you can all figure out how to best position for the waves as a team.

Daeris speeds into action, still under the effects of Sparkle-Weave's haste spell. She moves past Balon into the hall and draws a flask of alchemist's fire and quickly kneels down to set a trap. Satisfied with her work, she then withdraws to take up position to fire down the hall as their guests join them.
