Rufus withstands the effects of the creatures and calls out to the party. "These are incorporeal undead called allips! Use magic weapons or healing energy!"

He then shoots an arrow down the hall, piercing one of them and causing it to turn his direction with an anguished cry.

The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature's ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.

Sorry - this one stopped updating for some reason. Ouch, that's bad Wisdom damage on Oloch and Thorgrim.

Oloch tries to resist the strange undulations of the form in front of him.

Barley, you can aid another with a non-magic weapon (and a reach weapon, though you'd receive a -4 penalty due to soft cover by attacking from behind your alley). However, it does look like both Thorgrim and Oloch are fascinated, so they won't be attacking anyway...

@Oloch: Since you haven't saved against the fascinate and it's an aura. You have to make a save against the effect before you can act. You would get two saves. One from Barley shaking you and one from the Allip attacking you.


The fascination effect doesn't say it offers a second save in shaking someone, so I think it is automatic. Sort of like a sleep spell.

The fascinated condition can be removed by someone else shaking you as a standard action. (I thought it was full-round.) If the fascinate effect is ongoing, then you would still have to make a save against it, right?


Thorgrim, good point about an ongoing effect. However, I did miss one thing. You get a will save vs DC 15 to negate the wisdom damage from their touch attack. Both Oloch and Thorgrim, go back and roll those saves and readjust your Wis damage. If Oloch manages to make one of those his save vs the babble will succeed this round and his attack will happen.

Ali shakes his head and rids his thoughts of the insane ramblings, bringing his mind back to its usually singular focus: the show.

"For my next trick," Ali begins with wide open hand gestures, "I will need total silence!"

Casting silence on myself. Will last 5 rounds; extends in a 20' radius.

Hopefully not being able to hear them completely negates their aura without need for new saves or anything like that.


Ali, silence will do it, but since the babbling is a continuous effect, you'll need to make a will save in order to not fall under its fascination effect again.

Note that unless the spell has no verbal components you won't be able to cast now in the silence area. I sort of gimped myself but I figured the Smash Brothers would do more than my magic missiles.

Thorgrim feels his sanity leave him as the Allip tugs on his mental fortitude once more.

Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

The man levels his piston maul and attempts to kill the beast in front of him.

Piston Maul: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 1 = 26
Damage is irrelevant. Thorgrim's weapon isn't magical and he has no idea that this beast would be immune to his attacks.


Thorgrim bashes at an allip, hitting it square with his maul, but the weapon passes through without seemingly doing anything.

Rufus +1 bow at Allip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Rufus fires another arrow, but misses.

Kawrock sends a bolt of fire that just barely misses.

Barley tries to aid Oloch by distracting one of the undead creatures, but Oloch seems distracted himself and nearly drops his weapon.

Kawrock throws another firebolt after the first on missed. His beak moves as he tries to say something but with the silence spell active his words go unheard.

Oloch shouts, "Taste the vicious sting of my blade!", calling upon his Sacred Weapon ability to give his greatsword the vicious quality. Then, working in conjunction with Barley's assist, Oloch tries to connect with one of the allips.

Damage: 2d6 + 7 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 7 + 3 + (4, 2) = 24

If it hits, Oloch takes 1d6 ⇒ 6 damage.
