Honorbound Emissaries

The Pathfinders' assault on the gruesome beings before them continues as Orophin calls on her magic to conjure a magical weapon which strikes at her enemy, cutting deeply into its surprisingly tough flesh. Flyn also manages to put two more arrows into another of the wrathspawn, wounding it badly. Bartolomey and Brun move as one, with the phantom advancing along with the other Pathfinders to engage this strange enemy. Kelumur, ever crafty in his approach to such things, takes things a bit slower, and positions himself to bring an enemy to the ground while staying out of its reach.

The spawn abandon their prey and seize weapons that had been laying around them. They shout with fury and seem to grow even more formidable, then run forward with polearms in hand. The first of them (red) falls as Kelumur flings a shield at its feet, tripping it. The other two, however, rush forward with weapons overhead and ready to attack.

The halfling knight suffers a heavy wound from the creature, but presses his attack. The pain distracts him, however, and his strikes fall away harmlessly.

Kelumur bites his tongue as he withstands the pain from his wounds. Risking it, he tumbles into the enemies to gain an advantageous flank for the kill.

Flyn fires another devastating shot into the yellow beast, while Orophin delights in the effectiveness of the weapon he summoned and does the same once again, sharing some serious harm with the other two wrathspawn.

Bartolomey encourages Brun to press his attack, but the phantom is unable to strike his foe.

Kelumur nimbly weaves his way past the blue spawn as it is distracted by Orophin's incredible attack, and puts himself in a position to take advantage of Brun's threatening presence to land a precise and deadly blow in the back of the yellow spawn. Combined with the damage sustained from Flyn's arrow, Kelumur's attack is sufficient to kill the creature completely!

Even further enraged than they were previously, the wrathspawn respond fiercely to the destruction of their fellow kind. The red spawn stands from the ground, then waits until the blue spawn has moved into a flanking position, then they attack in unison, both stretching out their horrid, inhuman mouths to bite into Kelumur!

The red spawn stands and provokes an AoO from Kelumur and any characters with reach weapons. It then delays its bite attack until Blue is in flanking position with it.
The blue spawn moves around Kelumur to the north, also provoking a possible AoO from Kelumur as it moves past him, as well as Arnold, if he has reach.

Kelumur wounds the red wrathspawn with a quick jab of his dagger as the creature stands, but is quickly repaid for the attack as he first feels a sickening rush of fury well up within himself, then becomes almost overwhelmed with the intensity of the emotions flooding his mind!

Kelumur is sickened for 1d6 ⇒ 4 minutes and is staggered for 1 round!

Sickened:
The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Staggered:

Being a stubborn hot headed half-orc, Kelumur hears Flyn's warning but listens not. Instead, even in his disabled condition, he turns to surround the Wraithspawn and attempts to find it's weak spot.

Despite dealing some more massive damage to the surviving wrathspawn, the creatures still stand, and the fury in their eyes tells you that they intend to fight to the death, preferably yours! Acting on that instinct, the red spawn steps away from the crowd steadily pressing him northward and raises his danseur to attack the one of you closest to death: Kelumur!

The blue spawn, on the other hand, really dislikes the position he is in, so after he unleashes a full barrage of claws and bites on Cade, who is pressing him into a trap with Kelumur, he steps away to stand between the half-orc and his own ally.

Arnold continues to press the attack, while Cade is forced to fall back as he is overwhelmed with sickening anger.

Orophin's spiritual glaives further wound both wrathspawn, and he helps the group further by channeling healing energy. Flyn then steps up and fires off a pair of arrows at the badly wounded creatures, felling the red spawn and further injuring the blue.

Kelumur, still overwhelmed by his wounds and the sick feeling of rage still coursing through him, fails to connect with either blows he directs at the final wrathspawn. Brun, on the other hand, finally lands two solid blows that wound, then utterly destroy the beast!

-OUT OF COMBAT-

With the spawn defeated, you hear two moans that are torn between celebratory and pained, bringing your attention back to the surviving victims of the wrathspawns' brutality. "Thank the gods," one of the men exclaims. "We were certain we were already dead. *cough cough* Not that we feel that far from it now. *cough*" Indeed, both men appear to be on death's doorstep, and in serious need of help if they hope to make it back out of the temple alive.

I'll definitely use my wand on the injured workers...and I don't mind using the wand on Cade and Kelumur...I wasn't sure if either of them had a wand...I knew Orophin had been healing earlier and wasn't sure how he stood on his spells and I think we still have a 'boss' to deal with...


Honorbound Emissaries

Looking around the room, Flyn finds several statues of a variety of humanoids and demons alike. The eyes of the statues are actually black pearls, and Flyn is easily able to retrieve the treasures. At the northern end of the room, he finds another statue of a wicked looking woman wielding a ranseur like the ones the spawn used. In her left hand lies what appears to be another piece of the mask you have been assembling. It snaps easily into place with the others, and seems to be the left cheek guard of the mask.

The workers, named Pel and Saala, sigh with relief as Flyn mends their wounds. Rising to their feet, they thank each of you in turn and answer your questions. "We don't know much about the place, just that it's some old temple. We're just hired laborers rented out by the Vanderales to the Pathfinder Society. Are you all with the Society? That makes sense. You Pathfinders always seem so capable, even poor Riemme here."

Pel moves over and kneels beside the bloody corpse of the third victim the wrathspawn spared long enough to bring with them, the Pathfinder Riemme Batelle. "They came out of nowhere! We weren't even working in the temple, just waiting outside for orders to go ahead with the excavation, when one of the walls suddenly broke down...from the inside! Then these things started running out and attacking!" Pel points toward the lifeless body of one of the spawn, then shudders with fear and falls quiet.

"They killed all except the three of us," Saala says, continuing the story. "Riemme tried his best to fight them off, but then he lost his weapon. They knocked him out, grabbed hold of us, and dragged us all down here. They tortured Riemme to death and were about to do the same to us when you came in! Gods bless you, Pathfinders!"

Pel stands and moves back to stand beside Saala again. "As for your questions, no, I don't think this happened because of the working conditions. Like I said, we were just waiting for orders when these things came out of nowhere. There's no way Riemme or anyone could have known that would happen!
"We don't need anything else, aside from an escort out of here maybe, but we can get ourselves close to the exit if you all can show us the way."

Flyn nods and bows to the surviving diggers. "Thank you for the information...I cannot imagine what you two have been through. If you are ready, I can lead you to the exit of this lower level...you can climb up the ladder and should be able to safely make it out of the upper level. You'll find your friends and co-workers awaiting you outside."

When they are ready, the Elf will escort the two outside the secret door from which they entered and then north until they reach the room to the west from which the party entered this level...

"Up that ladder and you should be able to safely find your way out...we cleared the upper level of harpies before descending. Fare thee well!"

Flyn bows and then quickly returns to his party. "Looking at the mask, I think we only lack one other piece...we have the top piece along with both cheekbone pieces...perhaps we lack just the lower piece...

"Shall we try the secret/barricaded entrance we found to the south now? It will likely have to be broken down..."

When the party is ready to depart the room, Flyn will check the barricaded wall/door for traps and then draw his bow and keep an eye out to the west for any incoming foes as he covers his companions as they bring down the barricade...

Cade moves to Pel and Sasha. "Do you know One-Leg Betram? Do you think you could carry a message to him for us? We'll continue to clear out these things and it would be nice to not have to worry about delivering this while we're here."

Before leaving with Flyn, the workers listen to Cade's appeal for them to deliver a message for them. "One-Leg Betram? Yes, we've heard of him. I'm not sure he would actually care to see us, though, he's pretty well-known and might not care about simple laborers like us."

Cade (and other Liberty's Edge PCs), please give me a Diplomacy check to convince Pel and Saala to deliver the message for you. Due to your excellent RP in the camp, each of you gains a +2 circumstance bonus on this check.

Arnold wipes the blood and gore from his sword as the others have their conversation. Unsure of what they're talking about, he keeps on guard.
