Me too. :(
I didn't count Paizo going down today earlier in my timeline.
Is it okay if we start up again Thursday morning? Wednesday night I'm GMing, and tomorrow my work day is packed.
I'll roll initiative then and work on Wei Ji's integration. Meanwhile, feel free to introduce yourselves to Wei Ji in discussion if you like.

I'm sad too, gang. :(
This is the most fun group to play with.
It is the right decision for me; life is stressful for me right now. But I'm still regretting it immensely.

We'll miss you too!

Wei Ji

Greetings!
Many thanks to all of you as well as Juniper for allowing me the opportunity to step up and walk in her steps.
I am Wei Ji, a tengu tank and field medic scout portrayed by Wei Ji The Learner.
I am an Eagle Knight of Andoran, but one should not immediately assume that I'm one of the rabid sorts that insists on freedom for everyone *right now* to the detriment of a mission, nor the sort that is so set in his ways that he cannot learn.
I hold to no particular moral compass, nor to any particular ethical leaning, as I have found the strictures of the Master of Masters that he placed upon himself to be limiting in the development of the Self. This can confuse some folks, as there are actions I take that would appear to hew closely to 'good', but make no mistake, I strive for balance and moderation in all things.
With that being said, I'm also aware that I am stepping into a difficult situation, and I hope I can make the reassignment of Juniper more palatable for this mission.
Please let me know if there are things I have said, will say, or are concerns that you might need me to address, that I can appropriately and directly meet them!
*ahem* Sorry for the boiler-plate. Wei Ji is a True Neutral Slayer 6/Cleric 3 of Irori, with high skill in Perception, Stealth, and most of the Knowledge skills at a nominal 'assist' level(+5 or 6 to most Knowledge rolls). He can sneak (albeit slowly), he can 'tank' (however, expect him to whiff some as he'll be fighting defensively in such an instance), and he can heal if necessary. He is my -1, and he has some personal demons which may or may not be uncovered during the course of play *for rp purposes*. Thankfully, after a recent victory on behalf of the Society, he's ready to go!
Now onto my posting -- I try to post at least twice a day, though that might get problematic as I work in retail and I cannot guarantee when my shifts will line up, but rest assured I pay attention to the threads I'm in, and if there are any player concerns, let me know as well. I'm still learning, so if you see a better option for me during play, don't hesitate to mention it, I'll appreciate it.

* waves hello to Wei Ji the Learner, and hugs TheFox goodbye *
Too bad we can't play Tengu together, given our history of posts on the matter.
I am finding that posting is difficult for me as well. Working two jobs kills your free time, but on the plus side I'm making more money than I expected and am tackling some financial burdens more aggressively than I thought I would be able to.
In one of my other PbPs we're fighting the final boss as I type this, so that will be one less thing to keep track of. In the PbP I'm GMing they're about to reach the final map, though that'll still probably take a good deal of time to finish.
Anywhom, bring on the frogs!

No frogs today. Today I have storytime in the morning (why yes, I'm a children's librarian and tell stories professionally), a staff meeting in the afternoon (boo), and GMing tonight for the Consortium Compact, which I've never run. I've drawn the maps, but:
1) It took extra effort on my part to keep one of them from looking like male genitilia;
2) I did fantastic jobs on all four, but realize that only three of the maps will see use. Besides, the changeover will likely take a few minutes to write, too.
After that... Yeah, bring on the frogs. I'm already amused by Grigorii's actions, which means y'all are definitely doing your job! BTW, Grigorii, with that fantastic handle animal roll, what trick are you pushing for the frogs? Think on it and let me know.
Yours,
Hmm
PS I find it annoying that I can draw beautifully on a physical map, but that I can't figure out the software well enough to create virtual maps for stuff like this. Sometimes the maps in PDFs are either lacking or too revealing.

Wei Ji, do you expect to accept the benefits of inspired rage? I try to sing songs relevant to our situation. most often Taylor Swift!
At the start of each ally's turn in which they can hear the raging song, the Grigorii's allies must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects.
Inspired Rage gives allies: + 4 morale Str and Con, +3 morale Will, -1 AC.
Spirit Totem, Lesser: Spirit slam +10 (1d4+4 neg. energy) against an adjacent living foe
Spirit Totem: 20% concealment against non-adjacent attacks
Allies are raging and cannot concentrate or use some skills: Appraise, Bluff, Craft, Diplomacy, Disable Device, Disguise, Escape Artist, Handle Animal, Knowledge(any), Linguistics, Perform, Sleight of Hand, Spellcraft, Stealth, Use Magic Device
The description on this profile is a good introduction.
I just like to rage,
got nothing in my brain
that’s what people say x2
but I keep cruising, can’t stop, won’t stop bruising
It’s like I got this music in my mind saying “You’re going to die tonight!”
Cause the hitters gonna hit, hit, hit, hit, hit
and the critters gonna crit, crit crit crit crit
Puny, I’m just going to rage, rage, rage, rage ,rage
raging song, raging song

It will depend on the situation. There may be circumstances where accepting it will be a drawback rather than a benefit.
That being said, it was a HUGE help in Bonekeep 1 with the lyrical croonings of Lady GraGra, so hopefully there'll be a chance to benefit from it!
Also, in terms of the gameplay... would it be cruelty to animals if they are full of meat that needs to be eaten? =P

Yes.
So, I GMed an adventure yesterday where the party was supposed to disrupt a meeting of Aspis agents without violence or announcing who you are. So the two child players at my table (one was ten, the other seven) got into a drinking contest to get the attention of the whole bar. And then one said, "I've been rolling fortitude to not puke... Can I roll fortitude to puke really good?" He then rolled a 26 and puked all over the aspis agents. Then the seven year old said, "Can I puke on them too?" He also rolled a natural 20.
I said, "Yeah, I think you two successfully disrupted that meeting..." They bounced up and down, they were so excited.
Barf and beer... I'm teaching them such good life lessons.
By the way, I hope that your baker does not become jealous here. You're about to become very intimate with a frog. He gives good tongue.

You know, after this sometime (not immediately) maybe we should do a Murder of Crows (an all Tengu adventure!) I can be the GM that does the weird special requests... Nefreet, are you in the PFS Session Tracker? I couldn't find you there.

What? You only have one Tengu? Somehow I thought you'd have eight of them...
(Granted I've only got three bards in PFS... oh and Lyric the Singing Paladin, and Baroness Bobbi the skill monkey and Zahra the sorc who performs with her tiger. Wait a minute. All my characters are bards. Just some of them have different classes listed!)

Hey, I can't judge, Hmm!
One of my friends said that I try to find a way to turn all of my characters into paladins. While there are a couple exceptions, it's largely true. Even my sorceress is a paladin (as Shel can attest).

Kiku, sorry about Yojimbo losing that awesome readied action.
Paladins are awesome to play. I can't blame you for loving them.

I have one paladin so far, the only paladin I've ever played *ever* in RPGs (I created a couple way back in 1st Ed. but never found a group).
She's a tengu grandmother who follows Andoletta.
During one of the Season Seven scenarios, a bunch of young adults started 'bullying' the group that she was with, and she basically placed herself in the middle of the fight so *no one* could fight and then told them all to behave or they weren't going to get frozen treats. Yes, she meant the Pathfinders, too.
Memorable enough I got art done for her, and I hope to play her more someday soon...

@Hmm No worries! I once thought I crit with an enpowered, intensified snowball on a creature with cold vulnerability, until we remembered elementals are immune to crits D:
So missing out on a middling damage attack is no biggy in comparison ;)
@Wei Ji That's so cool! I love paladins, and that art is amazing! ^_^
I especially love lady paladins, the kind that ride in with shining armor, sweep a girl off her feet, and carry her off into the sunset....
*wistful sigh*
Uh...what were we talking about again?

I really try to make my characters do different things. For the most part I play different classes, races, personalities and primary weapons. For example, out of 35ish characters, Azara is my only one with 1) Swashbuckler levels, 2) a Scimitar, 3) a dominatrix persona, and 4) Viridium as a special material.
So, yep, only one Tengu. There are so many other things still to do!
Kiku Caritas
|
Yeah, despite my tendency to make "paladins," I love trying new things! I tend to use more experimental personalities or RP hooks on mechanical chasis that I am comfortable with and know I will enjoy in that respect, while I stay closer to my comfort zone on things I'm hazy on mechanically.
For example, I won't make a straight-up two-handed strength-based gish character unless I have something new I'm doing RP-wise, but my first full caster character is/was essentially a self-parody.

We'l bot you if needed, Harsk. Thanks for letting us know!

Apparently Yojimbo is trying to make it up to me for those half-dozen rounds in To Judge a Soul Part 1 in which he couldn't roll above a 5 on the die on any roll in any of his hasted 3-attack full attacks -_-

What? Me, take advantage of a weak will save?
Happy Easter, everyone! Here's hoping you all had a great holiday weekend. I had a fun one. I got to play at one of the Twin Cities venues I've never been to before, Your Mom's Basement. Bret and I played "Captive in Crystal" and had a blast. But now I have to figure out if I have any use at all for the boons on that glorious chronicle sheet...
Once you've quit this swamp, Grigorii, remind me to talk to you about the frogs. You have no idea how much I wanted to reward your frog song... It really was magnificent, and very clever.
Hmm
| GM Hmm |
Oh good. You're doing introductions! Feel free to take a few seconds to get to know your new teammate. I'll pop the popcorn and watch!
EDITED to ADD:
Azara, you naughty, naughty girl! You made me snort out my nose!

Which *book* is Infernal Healing in? I've *seen* wands with it, but I've never had someone point out that it's on the Cleric list?
*honestly thought it was a wizard/sorc spell, but can't find the documentation*
And as far as Wei's comment, it does still hold valid to a slight point -- he's never used one, so he might not know he can. :)
Alignment isn't an issue for him, at least :)
| GM Hmm |
Infernal Healing is from Inner Sea World Guide. At the moment, only one of our PFS pairs* uses it. Jasmine Wu was assured by Zarta that it was 'perfectly' safe!
Though I probably should get one for Baroness Bobbi "my stupid family put a restraining order on me and now I can't use my last name" Blakros. She's also a neutral Irori worshipper and would appreciate the efficiency of it. However, I've hardly tapped her CLW wand as it is!
Wei Ji, I think you could have IC fun "discovering" that you can use this spell!
Hmm
___
*All my PFS characters are paired with my boyfriend Bret's. We do paired builds to bring both balance and mayhem to any table we join.
Azara Emberkin
|
Less than 10% of my characters use Infernal Healing. Only Azara (a devout Asmodeus-worshiping Chelaxian), my Dhampir Necromancer, and my Abyssal-Blooded Bloodrager.
I know it's the popular thing to get, because lots of people believe 10hp > 1d8+1, but it has to fit the flavor of my characters.
Wei Ji
|
I'm open to the idea, just need to break down the walls to Greater Understanding :)
That being said, Wei *did* have an 'inter-religious conference' with a Calistrian priest at the end of Hellknight's Feast. Much... wisdom... was shared and enlightenment gained.
Grigorii
|
Most clerics I've seen in PFS follow good deities, and won't cast an [evil] spell. So usually it is the sorcerer/wizard's choice of wand if they aren't particularly scrupulous.
My rogue, for instance, doesn't need to roll on wands anymore. So he keeps a Wand of Dirty Touch on him for healing.
I have +10 UMD if you don't want to sully yourself, Wei Ji.
Wei Ji
|
Oh, no, don't worry about 'sully'. Wei's neutral.
It was more the practicality of having 'not our eggs in one basket in addition to player's memory of ISWG being in the toilet.
Kiku Caritas
|
I gotten to my -23 (not to mention my non-PFS characters) without without being tempted into using infernal healing. While I respect the reasoning behind the leniency on evil spells in PFS, I don't feel comfortable casting them.

It's a bit 'softer' than I expected but still not bad.

Just make sure that's a potion you are tasting and not some contact poison the GM included in the loot. It can be especially handy at low levels when Spellcraft bonuses may not be as high. And, hey! Anyone can use a potion. You don't really need those pesky spellcasters.
I've played it as identifying ingredients (minty fresh!) or as figuring out what minor effect less than a dose would have (I'm suddenly feeling rather thirsty).
