Dragos Gaspair-Dukain
|
Shrugging, Dragos abandons the ruined armoury and steps back into the hallway, tittering to himself at the borderline flirtation between Chortles and Stonetree. Pointing at the door directly opposite he starts to examine it for traps and locks.
"Well the Armoury was a bust, but at least we are not being set upon right now. Shall we check this double door next? Shame to leave it behind us!"

my vote is for the double door
Dragos Gaspair-Dukain
|
Looking on, Dragos lets out an low whistle, his eyes alighting at the discovery before them. About to step forwards, he checks himself and turns to his companions.
"Well, this would seem to lead deeper! But what a find, a Spire within the Emerald Spire?! This must be reported!" he pauses for a moment, remembering to scribble a few notes into his journal. "Now, to go deeper, or should we ensure our backs are protected by scouring our current level?"
| DM PatheticWretch |
Enough votes to continue exploring this level...
Chortles opens the door to the southwest. This room is full to bursting with a motley collection of cots and other furniture cobbled from scraps of wood and cloth. The stench of rotting food is overpowering. Doors lead to the west and the north.
This appears to be some sort of bunk room, but it is not presently inhabited.
Dragos Gaspair-Dukain
|
Turning his nose up at the smell from the Goblin bedroom, Dragos gingerly steps in and keeps his eyes sharp whilst he pokes around with his scythe, maybe the Goblins kept something here that indicated their purpose in the spire? Or was it mere, unhappy coincidence that they found the accursed goblinkind in this place.
"Hmm, so they sleep upon bunks? How odd, I always imagined a pile of filth. How strange a bedroom should be here, maybe the Goblinoids have been here some time? Fascinating!"

Chortles
|
We're movin' now!
Chortles covers his face with a silk hankerchief and heads to the south east door.
"Thith filth ith dithguthting," he says from behind the cloth filter.
Evariel
|
"I agree," Evariel says from behind the collar of his robe, which he holds over his nose as he passes through the room. "I know not everyone's living conditions are up to elven standards, but this is just filthy."
| DM PatheticWretch |
I love how Stonetree, probably the best guy to open the door, waits for everyone else to open the door. ;P
Once the massive Stonetree waits for the slender Chortles to open the door, it reveals a curving hall that has been badly damaged. Flower sends the glowing stone into the room to illuminate it.
There are intact doors to the north, east, and south, as well as a large double door leading west to the core of the tower. The southeast corner of the room has collapsed in a mound of green glass rubble, but a tunnel runs through the debris, shored up with rough timbers.
Chortles
|
Chortles continues sparing StoneTree's delicate hands, which are much more accustomed to salting poultry than doing manual labor, and opens the door to the East.
"This is eerily quiet after the rude greeting we received at the front door."
| DM PatheticWretch |
Chortles, the designated door-opener for this group of Pathfinders, opens the next door. This curving room is a good-sized kitchen, complete with decaying tables, cupboards, and bins. One newer table has what seems like a child’s laboratory set up, with broken cups standing in for beakers.
"ሄይ እናንተ ወደዚህ አትገባም! ብቻ እዚህ ይመጣሉ! ሄይ, እናንተ ከአስፈሪ አይደለም!" a voice calls out in goblin from behind a strange emerald-colored construct.
Realizing the Pathfinders are not supposed to be here, a bespectacled goblin raises a falchion, points it at the group, and says "ርዕሶች: ጥቃት!"

Tarantio
|
With a resigned sigh, Tarantio hops off Dragos' shoulder and darts through the room, between Stonetree and the creation's legs before jumping up on to the Goblin at the back, grinning evilly.
DOuble Move
| DM PatheticWretch |
Grummosh casts a spell to guide Stonetree's next blow and the brawler moves to engage. He swings at it powerfully, but his fist stings as he strikes the construct. His blow doesn't do as much as he had hoped. DR of some kind
Dragos tries to identify the thing, and knows exactly what it is from some of his preparation for exploring this tower, a variant emerald automaton, a kind of construct tasked with guarding this place. He also casts a spell on Tarantio to help the little creature's attack.
Tarantio leaps forward and jumps between the construct's legs. Its attack is too slow to hit the creature. The goblin swings a wicked-looking falchion at Tarantio, too, but seems even more surprised than the construct. Both AoO miss.
The goblin steps back from the little familiar and casts a spell.
Now recovered, the creature slams its metal fist back at Stonetree, hitting him so hard he sees stars.

Chortles is trying to remember any weakness of an emerald automaton. "For every 5 points by which your check result exceeds the DC, you recall another piece of useful information." It would be very useful to know how to get around that damage reduction. /wink /wink
"That is one nasty looking machine. Can't you hit it harder?"
Chortles readies to run up and hit StoneTree with a wand but is blocked by Grummosh's posterior, "You're clogging the door!"
So, instead he delays until Grummosh moves and then brings healing in to Stone Tree's life.

Flower inspires his companions with his groovy banner and prepares to stop the construct from hitting as well.
The goblin shrugs off Evariel's spell while it focuses on battling Tarantio.
Grummosh once again guides Stonetree's next blow with a hand on his shoulder.
Chortles examines the construct, and from his vast knowledge of minutia, knows that this one must be hit by the hardest of weapons, ones constructed of adamantine. He also heals Stonetree, reinvigorating the brawler.
The goblin tries to fight off Tarantio, but the aggressive familiar's sharp teeth tear a nasty gash in the goblin's arm.

Sorry, I'm going to correct a few things I messed up last round. I applied the damage Stonetree dealt, and also made the construct reroll because of Flower's ability (it still hit). Flower, you may change your action since you already used it on the construct (I think it's just once you can try Misfortune per target).
Dragos circles into the room and misses an attack on the construct while Tarantio continues mauling the enemy. The goblin misses an attack of opportunity against the drake.
Grummosh heals some of Stonetree's wounds.
The brawler unleashes a few more attacks, trying to hit the rock-hard creature with knees or elbows to save his bloody fists more damage. He is rewarded with a sparking and crackling from inside the creature...he is doing some real damage.
Evariel tries to daze the goblin again, but it proves resilient even as it fights off Tarantio.

Delaying Chortles...
Flower aids Stonetree by distracting the construct. It seems to work as it follows the banner like a bull to a bullfighter's cape, and it misses Stonetree widely. It continues to emit sparks as it crackles and fizzles.
