As an avid researcher of the lost Azlanti empire, Dragos beams as they find even such a simple parchment, but is unsure on its purpose here. Turning to chortles he narrows his eyes slightly and rolls them.
"Hmm, you seem to have some wires crossed there my waffling friend! The Azlanti Sox were the ones to halt the plague of the Blinkisaurs, their foes wrote that they released them." he responds matter of factly as they begin to search the room.
"A human bed in a goblin hold? How strange."

Spying the same crack in the wall as Flower, Dragos steps across the chamber eagerly and peers over the pacifist's shoulder, using their natural vision to pierce the gloom of the tower.

"Well stated Dragos! What a tale that is!" Chortles chuckled as he followed Flower and Dragos.
Should we try the stairs going up at the top of the map before devling downward?

![]() |

Dragos chuckles at the bard, and then looks around at the land outside the tower, enjoying the fresh air in this stinking goblin lair. Shrugging, the Undertaker pulls their head in and points at the remaining doors.
"Hmm, well I say we check these doors first before taking the stairs! At least we have an exit in an emergency!" he laughs, swinging his scythe casually.

![]() |

So there are stairs going down in the middle of the map and stairs going up at the very top of the map? Are those stairs at the top of the map accessible?

DM PatheticWretch |

Looks like enough votes to try up.
The group's designated door-opener, Chortles, opens a set of double doors.
Stairs wind upward to the right, circling around a glowing wall of semi-translucent green stone. It seems the Azlanti tower was built around a core of some other material—a spire within a spire.
Two goblins stand sentry here, one on the landing at the foot of the stairs, and the second sitting on the stairs several feet away.
One of them rushes toward the top of the stairs, sounding an alarm, while the other attacks Chortles with a dogslicer. The jagged weapon leaves a long gash across the bard's leg.

The combined attacks of the group overwhelm the first goblin, but the second has disappeared up the stairs, sounding the alarm.
Sorry, I should have moved the one goblin off the map. He ran away before you acted.
Cautiously following up the stairs, the group finds it ends in a locked door.

Dragos holds out a hand for his protesting business partner and gives him some water to help rinse out their fangs. Smiling to Flower, the Undertaker shrugs as they make their way up the stairs. "Actually he is fairly friendly today! I'm sure he just likes to complain really. Stonetree makes his way to the front and examines the door closely looking for weakness.

After a half a minute of not seeing anything and growing bored, Stonetree lashes out with a violent kick and tries to bust the door open.
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

DM PatheticWretch |

Stonetree makes kindling of the door, but is met with a swift attack from the other side. A goblin races up and attacks the brawler but misses. From deeper inside the chamber, an arrow lances out to strike Stonetree in the abdomen.
This strange chamber pulses with the green glow of the column of glass-like crystal that forms the core of the tower. The walls of the room are damaged, and the roof is cracked. The spire in the center juts up, just peaking above the crude ceiling. A bed and a side table sit in the northern half of the room, and archery targets line the southern section of wall.
Another creature, not a goblin, lurks in the corner. This ugly creature resembles a twisted shadow puppet’s silhouette, a wild thing of flared black and brown fur whose pelt juts out from its body at freakish angles. The crouching shadow’s ears are large and floppy, draping shoulder-length, adding to the creature’s unnatural shape. Its eyes are too big for its head. Tremendous milk-white ovals loom on either side of the thing’s wheezy pig-like nose. Its panting mouth is filled with bristly needle-teeth spiderwebbed in disgusting strands of yellowish saliva, all vibrating to the tune of its wheezing breath.
