Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26.
"Curiouser and curiouser... look - both Kassen and the mercenary leader have similar medallions; perhaps they were siblings, or grew up as part of the same organisation?"
After thoroughly searching the room, Amenhotep continues on down the corridor.

DM Aron Marczylo |

At the end of this corridor you come to another door. This one appears to be designed in such a way you can only open it one way.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Flame doesn't seem to do anything with the other locked door, but the voice once again says
"Magic is the key" and you notice the pool of water in that room is quite deep and dark so you can't see what's at the bottom
Unless you had a light source that lights up underwater like a sunrod or something.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Well, I have darkvision - is the pool 60' or less deep?
Didn't relaise that, lol.
You see about 40ft down at the bottom there appears to be a large pile of identicle, iron keys.

![]() |

Well, Traflet is the only one with Detect Magic, and as he has a Strength of 8, he isn't exactly good at swimming. I think the long, laborious task of recovering all of the keys is what we need to do, unfortunately - either that, or rope him to Amenhotep's chest, then dive down so he can identify the 'correct' key...

DM Aron Marczylo |

Thought Clerics had it on their list too? Unless you didn't prepare it. Plus it is a 60 cone.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Ok, for clarity we'll say you manage to spend sometime bringing up ALL the keys.
With a pile of identicle iron keys sat there, detect magic is cast and only one of the keys glows brightly. This key fits the lock to the locked door.
Sorry for the late response. Just been doing two 9 hour shifts back-to-back and I've only ever been used to 5 hours in the past :p

DM Aron Marczylo |

As you open the door you peer down a long corridor that is flanked by a row of human statues, set into alcoves on each side. The statues look like Kassen and each one holds a longsword out in front of it. The blades of roughly half the statues are wrapped in leather padding.

![]() |

"Yeah, that doesn't look suspicious, at all..."
Amenhotep carefully moves forward, taking his time to search for the trigger mechanism for the obvious statue-based trap...
Perception 'Take 20' = 28.

DM Aron Marczylo |

You come across a single pressure plate near the end of the hallway.

![]() |

Amenhotep carefully points out the location of the pressure plate, then stows his shield, limbers up, and takes a running jump over it.
'Take 10' = 5, which is exactly what I need, as far as I can tell.
He then carefully moves to the end, and whilst waiting for the others to join him, checks the door at the end of the corridor for traps, and then opens it.

![]() |

Traflet easily hops the pressure plate, following Amenhotep and looking through the now-open door
Take ten on acrobatics gives me 12
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

DM Aron Marczylo |

The door at the end was unlocked as with most in this area and inside you see a massive room. One half of this holy chamber has a lowered floor, with stairs on either side to reach the bottom. Standing opposite the door is a tall wooden statue of Kassen grasping a gigantic wooden shield in each hand. One of the shields is inscribed with the word "home" whilst the other reads "family".

![]() |

Ellenar follows behind Amen, weapon still ready.
"Does that statue unnerve anyone else? And if this room has been sealed by magic all this time, wouldn't the wood by rotted by now?" No Know: Arana, but common sense does help.

![]() |

Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Traflet looks at the statue, his eyes narrowing, Careful, that's a golem. It's not activated right now, but those things are scary once they're awake. Stay away from it.

DM Aron Marczylo |

The Golem just remains inactive. The door is still opened and nothing appears to have happened.

DM Aron Marczylo |

nothing detects evil and the golem doesn't react whilst you're in the room. Do you want to go down the stairs to get the shields?

DM Aron Marczylo |

Going to say that the others stay away from the thing and stay on the upper area.
Once Amenhotep reaches the bottom steps the creature comes to life and the stairs flatten, turning into slides.
Amenhotep: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Adeah: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Ellenar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Tenzin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Traflet: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Golem: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Assuming Ellenar stays at the top of the stairs, Ellenar looks down at the moving statue. "Aw cripes! This is a right mess!" She gives her banner a swish, making sure the colors of Shelyn shine brighter in the dimly lit cave. "All together! Our might is greater than this thing that bars our path!" Lion's Call: +1 to attack and +2 to saves vs Fear for 2 rounds.
As long as you can see my banner, you gain a +2 moral bonus vs fear and +1 to attack as part of a charge.
Ellenar jumps down the slide, trying to stay upright and landing at the bottom on her feet. Acrobatics: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (6) - 4 = 2 Her footing is not solid, resulting in the cavalier landing on her back at the foot of the stairs with a loud CLANG!!

Traflet loads his crossbow, firing at the golem,
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
