Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Oh yeah, they are! I'm glad we figured that out before the fight went longer, I'd hate to waste more of our resources on pointless battles.
Ellenar Bannerhand
|
"What do you mean fake!?"
Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Taking another look Ellenar realizes her blade did nothing, and her armor is still as colorful as when she first put it on this morning. "So they are...This doesn't bode well."
Turning to face the spellcasters of her group, Ellenar raises her query. "What sort of illusion is this? How was it cast? What type of caster or trap have we alerted?"
| DM Aron Marczylo |
After everyone appears to have disbelieved the illusion, the Orcs dissappear and any wounds that they have caused dissappear with them, leaving you alone in silence.
As you have the map, it should be a relatively easy to pick yourselves up and make your way.
You can re-place yourselves on the map in marching order and it takes a DC 10 survival check to find your way there.
Adeah Silversong
|
"Not sure, but if that's part of the town's idea of putting on a show I'm not amused. Wasted two good rounds thinking we were being attacked. Thinking I should punch the mayor in the face for that stupid trick."
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Easily recognizing the path they're supposed to take from here, Adeah occupies herself by observing her surroundings.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Ellenar Bannerhand
|
Ellenar retakes her position, banner out, as she follows her travel companions.
"I hope whatever else we face is an illusion as well. It'd be nice to return to the lodge as intact as I left."
Adeah Silversong
|
If you put the map in the header tab, it'd be more helpful.
| DM Aron Marczylo |
After dealing with the illusions, you travel most of the day in peace and follow the map very well. The sunlight begins to fade and a cold wind begins to rattle through the leafless forest and there are now no sign of civilization in sight. As you continue on your path you swear you can hear something follow you, but it is just the forest and it's wildlife more likely running from you than approaching you.
You manage to find a nice levelled spot, surrounded on three sides by a thicket of bushes. There is also plenty of dry wood, good for starting up a fire to cook a fine stew with rations if you all contribute.
You can hear, over the next hour, the a load howling, possibly from Wolves. Over time it appears to start getting louder.
1d20 ⇒ 13
You notice a wolf across from you and the group, watching you eagerly.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
She draws her musket, loads a round into the chamber, and holds it pointing at the ground but ready. "Eyes front, folks. Got ourselves some company."

Perception 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Perception 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Too bad those weren't opposite!
Taking a furtive glance around, Ellenar keeps her hands on her halbert, not seeing the potential threat. "How many? Where?" She hisses quietly.
Traflet
|
Perception 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Traflet looks up and jumps a little, Woah, right there, it's watching us.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
"Apparently the figment orcs are not the only danger in these woods. I fear that those wolves are in fact real."
Tenzin readies himself for the wolves to approach... hoping that they dont.

"Stay back, fowl beast!" Ellenar steps up to the wolf, intent on finishing this quickly.
5-foot step and strike after the wolf so it gets closer to me. If it takes more than 5 feet to move, I'll do that and attack with a standard action.

Belina shrugs,
"One wolf may bring more."
And waits till the wolf gets clear.
attack/damage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 191d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
A single arrow follows the wolf.

The creature retreats deep into the forest. The night calms for the night.
Be sure to place where you'll be resting for the night in this camp area.
Adeah Silversong

Adeah finds the softest patch of grass she can and lies down. A bedroll, as she sees it, is just extra weight to carry in the name of luxury. On the road, luxuries are expendable.

I can go in the middle of the night, I don't mind being interrupted.

Ellenar Bannerhand

"Aw crap!" Ellenar dodges the blows from the wolves, grabbing her halbert that she had sticking into the ground so her banner never touched the ground.
To Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
I can't access the map due to my own issues. Apply this attack to whichever.
Adeah Silversong

Adeah wakes with a start. "What's going on?" She rolls over and grabs her musket, lying next to her. Without bothering to stand up she props herself on her elbows, aims at the (leftmost) wolf, and pulls the trigger.
Musket shot (touch): 1d20 + 8 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 8 - 4 = 12
Damage: 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
BOOM! The report of the weapon echoes through the night air.
Traflet

Traflet jumps to his feet, unleashing an arc of energy towards the nearest wolf and instead scorching a hole in the grass nearby.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
| DM Aron Marczylo |
Two wolves go down and the third decides to high-tail it out of there.
Fresh meat atleast
Ellenar Bannerhand
|
"Well now...that was....a thing...I'm going back to sleep."
Ellenar places her halbert back, the banner flapping a little in the breeze.
"Wait...Breakfast?....That's kinda cruel, isn't it? They were just defending their territory! No need to consume them! I've got trail rations!"
Amenhotep of Wati
|
"Tenzin, I am certainly not going to try and prevent you from dining on fresh meat, but as for myself, I will stick with my rations - wild dog is a little far from my comfort zone in terms of dietary supplementation."
Tenzin the Calm-Hearted
|
Almost as if he is talking in his sleep
"The master............ provides............ who are we ............t o question it............. wasteful........."
Adeah Silversong
|
Adeah pushes another cartridge into her weapon, sets it by her side, and rolls onto her back. "I'm with Rocky. Meat is meat, don't matter where it comes from."
Ellenar Bannerhand
|
Raising her voice to overpower any answer, Ellenar interrupts Amen. "Ok! I think that's enough of that subject! Can we get some sleep please?"
Hey GM, can we move to the next morning unless there's another combat? I think we're ready.
Adeah Silversong
|
Adeah shrugs sleepily, unsure whether Amenhotep can see the gesture. She opens her mouth to respond, but is cut off by Ellenar. She smiles. "You heard the woman, Serious." She closes her eyes and curls up again on her patch of grass. "You can judge me in the morning."
| DM Aron Marczylo |
The rest of the night goes on uneventful and you are all able to get a full night's rest and prepare to march on through the Fangwood. The trees begin to thin, revealing a field of short, green grass that leads to the shores of a wide, calm lake reflecting the overcast grey sky above. A dense fog hangs over the center of the
lake, obscuring the far side. Near the shore of the lake, a dark
form lies next to the water.
What will the party do?
Amenhotep of Wati

Amenhotep warily moves forward to investigate the body.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14.
