Iago approaches Merisiel, brandishing the sunrod and looking over her shoulder at the door. "I think you'll do better with a little light here. So, what about that door? Are we good to open it yet, or do you need a little more time?"
GM Aerondor
|
You have opened the door to the south and looked down it. You need to scroll to the bottom of the map, or I guess I could move the inn and underground areas around.
| Jethryk Devarre |
Merisiel shrugs.
"Well, if there is nothing here, we should keep moving..."
So saying, she cautiously moves forward, intent on seeing what lies at the end of the corridor.
GM Aerondor
|
Around the corner there is more storage and a couple more doors.
I unveiled the map for ease, but without the sunrod, you really can't see down there.
| Jethryk Devarre |
Then Merisiel will use her hooded lantern, and a flask of oil ;-)
Raising her lantern high, Merisiel carefully plays the lantern's light over the room, before cautiously moving forward to investigate the door at the end of the corridor.
If it is untrapped, she will open it.
GM Aerondor
|
Sneaking ahead, Merisiel opens the eastern door. She shines her lantern in.
A wooden ladder in the southeast corner descends from above into this untidy chamber. Some pieces of broken furniture lie scattered across the floor, along with some soiled clothing. She stands behind an oaken door in the western wall and sees a corridor leading north.
| Jethryk Devarre |
Merisiel cautiously moves forward, and searches the room, taking a peek down the corridor to the north.
If she doesn't find anything out of the ordinary in the room, she will continue down the northern corridor.
GM Aerondor
|
Heading northwards, Merisiel discovers another cluttered storage room.
A number of wooden chairs and other furniture are stacked in this large room, as well as a few casks. A door lies to the west, while a corridor heads southward back to where Merisiel came from.
random: 1d20 ⇒ 9
The door to the west is locked.
The team is pretty scattered around the cellar at the moment. Just saying.
GM Aerondor
|
Which clothes? From the first room? All the clothes in it have been washed and folded. The room with the other ladder leading up are not folded or washed. A quick sizing shows them to probably be of roughly dwarven proportions
Merisiel takes a couple of minutes but unlocks the western door. While she does that Theodic searches the room. The casks contain mead and ale

Iago snaps out of his reverie to hustle up to Merisiel and Theodic, dragging Tanariel part of the way. "I hate to do this, but can someone give me a recap? Seems like we're going through these rooms very quickly and I don't know what you guys have found or not."
Iago is asking so that we can get a GM vetted recap of everything that you guys have found so far. I've read the posts so far, but I'm getting confused, and I'd like to be clear on what's been found down here or not. This is important since this is a Core replay for me and I'd like to keep OOC knowledge to a minimum.
GM Aerondor

First room: Clothes, nicely folded.
Second room: junk mostly
Third room: Ladder up to somewhere, soiled clothes of dwarven stature
Forth room (current one): Ale and Mead.
Apart from the unusual amount of them, the inns cellars have so far proved to be distressingly normal. After opening that last door that illusion changes.
This area is bare save for a rickety side table and chair set against the north wall. A set of keys lies on the table, alongside a browned, half-eaten apple, stale crust of bread, and dull paring knife. Ironbound oaken doors lie on the eastern and western walls, and a door-lined corridor stretches to the south.
GM Aerondor
|
While checking the table for traps, Merisiel notes the table is carved with swirls and chipped grooves, cut by an untrained hand.
random: 1d20 ⇒ 18
She notes the name "Rosh" in among the swirls.
The keys ring holds eight blackened iron keys.
random again: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Working her way south Merisiel can see the doors to left and right have small windows in them at eye level.
Three of them are empty. But three are not.
The door to this jail cell has a small window at eye level, blocked by three vertical iron bars. Matted straw is strewn across the floor, and a set of manacles hangs affixed to the wall opposite the entrance. Two buckets sit at the center of this dank prison.
(F6 are empty, and F7 are not)
Within each of the occupied cells is a chained up dwarf.
The rogue easily notices how rusted the locks and hinges of the doors are.
| Jethryk Devarre |
"Hmmm..."
Pulling out a flask of oil, Merisiel uses it to oil the hinges of the doors to the cells the dwarves are in, before pouring a little into the locks for good measure, and then trying the keys to see which might let them out.
GM Aerondor
|
The loud creaking sound the comes from the hinges echoes through the hallway. Only the gods know how much louder it would have been if the hinges had not been oiled.
The first dwarf out is Rakuska. She is bruised and poorly fed and is quite simply exhausted. "We bypassed Xer.. but were waylaid by a faith barge. The &%^! took all our funds and then after that they still took us captive. Watch out for that evil woman - A merciless Razmiri cleric calling herself Holy Ahendile. She thinks we are here for some type of subversive purpose."
GM Aerondor
|
"Try not to hurt the others though. Especially that nice mute boy. He even brought us some extra treats from time to time."
She looks around.. "Time to get the others out.."
Which I assume you do... where to now?
Each gives their thanks, and Pechas even offers "The blessings of the Diamond Sage upon you."
| Jethryk Devarre |
"I think we found your clothes in one of the other rooms; follow me..."
Once the dwarves are appropriately dressed, Merisiel nods in the direction of the trap door (in F3).
"We haven't been this way - let's see what is up there."
She then cautiously heads up the ladder to the trapdoor, and, after checking it for traps, opens it a crack to see what lies beyond.
GM Aerondor
|
The dwarves are keen to get back into their clothes, not even complaining about them not being cleaned.
The trapdoor up seems to be locked or bolted from the otherside. It doesn't want to move easily anyway.
While you have done a cursory look around, you have not thoroughly searched the area at all. Doing so could take hours though.
| Jethryk Devarre |
Yes, well, from a meta-game perspective, there appears to be a secret room, but in character, there is no real reason for me to suspect this...
"Right. Let's head back out the way we came in..."
Iago Dalamitrin
|
Iago keeps watch, a little nervous given that nothing has gone wrong. Something always goes wrong... What did we miss? he thinks to himself as he replies to Gratius in a loud whisper: "Yeah, you are absolutely right. Thing is, I'm not the man to send in to steal an old ladies' stolen scarf. I mean, I guess you could convince me to beat it off of her, but that'll take a lot of convincing. Probably a lot of wine too. Rose if at all possible."
Gratius Laelius
|
Tanariel and Tomren could stay with the dwarfs as the other could take a look back, on each wall, just to be sure we don't miss antything.
proposes Gratius
Merisiel "take 10" on her perception check and the other try to aid another her.
As for the yellow scarf, I'm sure Merisiel could do that without harming the old ladies.
GM Aerondor
|
"You want to go back down? We're free lad, lets be off to the boat!" says Holfist.
Pechas counters with "In the words of the Diamond Sage, The snail may move slowly, but with his house on his back, he has no need to move fast."
Rakuska nods her head.
I love these Pahmet dwarves. I think I'm going to have to make one up for myself.
GM Aerondor

Waiting on moves from others here. I know it is the weekend, so posting may be slowing down. You're rocking through this, no real surprise with this prestigious group of players.
Iago Dalamitrin
|
Anyone in particular? I just want to know if I should be posting something more consequential or just pushing the action.
GM Aerondor
|
Merisiel finds the sisters room locked. She does notice there are some people out in the courtyard...
Iago Dalamitrin
|
Looking at his fellow Pathfinders as they start climbing back up to the washroom, Iago asks nonchalantly: "On a more serious note; how badly do we want to enrage the Razmiri here? Do we intend on exacting retribution? Or just extract our friends here walk on out?"
Iago Dalamitrin
|
Iago looks startled as he ascends the last few rungs back to the now crowded washroom. "Fun? Well, fun is in the eye of the gods. I'm partial to burning the place down, but it really is a nice place..." He brushes his hand longingly against the door to the hallway. "Also, I'm partial to the quality of the woodwork here. And how nice the inn actually is. Anyway, I can't help but notice a distinct lack of dwarven embroidery with you. Unless you're hiding it. Making the assumption you aren't, what's going on? Old lady turned into a blood-suckling hag?" he says with a smile, before turning dead serious, almost slightly worried: "I'm not being flippant, I half expect that to be true."
GM Aerondor
|
As noted above, there are people in the courtyard, having quiet conversation. At least three of them.
Tomren Tellius
|
"If they're blocking the way back to the ship, I say we confront them. Otherwise, legging it might be preferable."
GM Aerondor
|
The group notes there is another door out of the inn, but quietly trying it realise it seems to be fixed shut somehow. Mersiel confirms it is not a lock. It's been barricaded on the other side.
