You do your job and I'll do mine ;D
If I'm going to save spell slots, I'll do it in style. Also, a flat d8 arrow is pretty desperate against DR5.

@Mylvwara: Looking around, you spot on the other side of the landing 30 feet below, there appears to be some sort of control panel with a lever attached to it. You also notice a door from the northern end of the area, and there appears to be a plaque over the eastern archway, but at this angle you can't quite make it out, although given everything else in here, you suspect it's in Azlanti.
Actually... I'm going to pass on Amnur and Orion's actions. Orion arrows won't do much and Amnur can't reach the skeleton.
@Varian: Your hammer hits with great strength, smashing several bones from the skeleton!

Could we have these tagged on the map?

"For Trudd!!!! Deaglan yells as he drops his axe, moves forward while drawing his longhammer and trying to avoid the bite of the skeleton. He moves behind the dinosaur and swings the mighty hammer.

"Smash boney things," Shilyn mutters with a giggle as her hand drops to the mace on her belt only to remember she'd gotten rid of it a few weeks ago. Her fingers close instead on a thin length of wood which she pulls out and quickly points to the skeleton and mutters something unintelligible.
wand of acid arrow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
"Oops!" she utters as her greenish bolt flies a bit too close to Deaglan.

Wow, this was all on me, sorry guys!
The mindless skeleton continues to try to attack Varian, but this time it goes all out, biting twice, before leaping into the air and slashing with both talons, then ending with its forearms slashing down at the aasimar.

"That... was not fun..."
Varian tries to return the favor to the skelly, though he only gets the one attack.

Then he takes a step back, whether the skelly collapses or not...

I wasted a crit on a dead critter? awww...
Varian heals himself with the wand
cw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Varian laughs. "All the bravery belongs to Deaglan... he's the one who charged up and past the critter... I just got caught in a bad place... I wouldn't chalk it up to bravery." Still he looks pleased with her comment while he blushes a little.
"Nice shooting... you brought down that beastie with a good aim for sure."
Varian hefts the earthbreaker up onto his shoulder and lets it rest there. "Shall we search the area?"
And with that he looks around to see what, if anything the skellies might have been protecting.
He casts detect magic, and walks about the room, scanning in all directions.

Trying to get the ringing out of her ears from the loud noise, Shilyn wiggles a finger in them. "Yah, good shooting, but could you give a bit of warning first? Those things are a bit loud," she mutters half-heartedly as she turns to help Varian examine the room.

"Those weapons are extraordinary. Are you from Alkenstar? How does it feel, moving into a magic-dead place?"
Having been reminded how fascinating Lirianne is, I question away.

Lirianne the Pistolero |

"Yes, I'm from Alkenstar City, smokeside. And deadzones? Huh, well it doesn't feel like anything at all, but I don't have those "special senses". I can tell ya gettin' hurt and healing up the natural way sure isn't an experience I'd recommend" The half-elf woman subconsciously rubs her side.

Varian waits, rope in hand, wishing Shi had waited to tie the rope around herself, just in case...
"Shi, are you sure you don't want... " he tries to ask, but sees she is already partway across... he sighs.
If she gets across safely, he follows.

![]() |

Deaglan crosses the bridge carefully, secured by a rope that is held by someone on firm ground. On the other side his hand touches his holy symbol lightly before he moves over to Shilyn.
"Where to now? It seems as if the only possibility is left, I must say I do not like these chasms, it feels as if any moment such a rope bridge might collapse."

![]() |

Varian nods to Deaglan. "Indeed. MIght make withdrawal difficult if that were to happen. Let's hope it does not."

![]() |

The party makes their way across with Amnur having the most worry. He even attempts a solid hustle to make it across faster, and the otherwise shabby looking rope bridge holds the armored dwarf mass.
Scouting ahead, Shilyn sees a single wooden door at the end of the southern passage.

Walking carefully, and keeping her eyes moving across the floor and walls, trying to spot anything out of the ordinary, Shilyn moves to the door and begins to check it out.

With her rapier in her right hand and standing to the side, Shilyn reaches out with her left and opens the door to take a quick peek at what's behind it.

![]() |

Behind the door... is a steep stairway that descends about 30' to another door!
Saving time here since it's exposed
Creeping down the stairway, Mylvwara and Shilyn note that this is taking them to the alcove spotted from the bridge. Opening the new door, a stone dais with a lever jutting out beckons to the party.

![]() |

"Well, that seems rather obvious... it almost screams 'toggle me'"

![]() |

Shilyn pauses at the alcove while the others make their way so that she can collect her rope. Once she has it back, she coils it and stuffs it back into her pack.
"Yes, that lever is a bit obvious," she says before starting to examine both the lever and the surrounding alcove.

"As if we could talk you out of it, although that apparition told us not to touch anything or be purged. But we would not be field agents if we listened to that sort of thing, would we?"

![]() |

"Well," she replies with a grin, "if we didn't touch anything then we'd have to be flying right? I mean, we are touching the floor. So obviously, we're not purged for touching.."
With a glint in her eye, Shilyn pulls the lever..

![]() |

The plucky half-elf pulls the lever.
With a low rumble becomes louder as the bridge at the open hallway slowly starts spiraling down. After one minute, the bridge is now facing an east-west orientation and at your level. Straight ahead, to the west, is a now clearly accessible pair of double stone doors; the archway over the them bears an inscription in ancient Azlanti.
Mylvwara Linguistics: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 11 + 1 = 19
Varian Linguistics: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 = 25
Mylvwara can't quite get all of the script out on her own, but Varian gets it. The archway reads: "Enigma Vaults"

![]() |

The dwarf moves slowly (and secured by rope) after the half-elf.
"What are you waiting for, if it is safe you open it. If it is not you disable the traps. Let's go!"

![]() |

but I don't want what's behind the door... I want what's behind curtain #2... lol j/k

![]() |

Monty, I'd like to trade the demon in the pit for what's behind door number two..
Standing to the side, Shilyn reaches out to open the door..
I blame Varian for the deja vu flashback.. heh

![]() |

Did I say tomorrow? I meant Tuesday... yeah, that's the ticket!
Shilyn opens the door and immediately, the grandeur of this large hall makes a solid impression on the half-elf. Lining either side of the room are a number alcoves with various artifacts up for display. Directly ahead, the metallic remains of what appears to be a large humanoid insect lies in a ruined heap right before a balcony that showcases another set of large, bizarre items.
Of more direct concern are a quartet of tieflings, that turn around at the doors opening. Behind, a human woman bearing numerous scars across her face and scalp stands up and speaks to you in a dry, monotone voice. "Greetings you must be fellow believers of the Black Goat are you going to be with us to celebrate the coming of its children?"
