Mylvwara, Lirianne, and Shilyn blast the thing with ranged attacks, but Shilyn's falls short of landing!

It appears that the fungus is rapidly healing itself; unless you kill them outright, they will heal themselves to full given enough time.

Deaglan smashes the rising blob into a pulp on the floor

Both of the fungal masses are down, but need another solid hit to end them permanently.

"Someone quickly use fire on them!"

If / when Deaglan can act he will use a flask of alchemist's fire on the nearest blob and then on the other if no one has done anything to put them down finally.

I send another acid dart at one of them.

Between the extra acid and the fire, both creatures have suffered enough trauma that their fungal cells can no longer repair themselves.

Combat over!

Looking around the rest of the room, it's easy to see that something was trapped behind the iron barred wall at one point, but somehow, it got out. However, determining what it was is near impossible due to the overgrowth of mold covering the room.

In this corridor, there are 2 other rooms; the left door containing something else that made a noise, and then the northern door.

GM, was that one or two flasks of alchemist's fire that Deaglan used?

"Was anyone hurt? Can you check these other doors Shilyn?"

Whoops, misread your question Deaglan! Just one flask; Mylvwara's acid dart finished off the other.

"What in the good graces were those things?"

Quickly reloading her hand crossbow before pulling out her rapier, Shilyn sticks one of the downed fungus things, muttering several expletives in a mix of Elvish and Kelish as she does. "Sure.. I'll check the doors.. one has noise behind it," she says pointing with the tip of her sword toward the other door across the way. "Which one you interested in?"

"You where the one that was complaining that we barged in everywhere, now I let you do it your way and you are still complaining" Deaglan mutters back at Shilyn.

"Why don't you try the left door first?" he suggests nicely.

Shooting a grin at Deaglan, Shi responds, "Well, you know the ol' saying.. a rogue's never happy unless she's complainin'. I still hate giant mushroom things.." With that, she turns to the left door and gives it a good check.

@Shilyn: There isn't anything of interested on the door itself; it's unlocked and no traps, although the sound of movement on the other side does get your rogue senses tingling.

Above the door is a plaque, that unfortunately you cannot read.

Between Mylvwara and Varian, though, you can identify that it says "Enigma of the Sky Seeds"

And GM whoops, I forgot to mention the other doors have plaques, too. The one with the fungal creatures is dubbed "Enigma of the Dark Tapestry", while the northern door reads "Enigma of the Midnight Sun"

Lirianne reloads her pistols and pushes up the brim of her hat with the barrel of one. "Well, at least if you're complaining y'all ain't dead."

"Let's see what this sky enigma is all about. Can't come any good out of it if you ask me, we never should have embarked on the quest for sky either."

With the party's blessing, Shilyn opens the door.

An upraised dais in an alcove to the south holds a four-foot-diameter geode that's been cracked into two halves. The inside of the geode glitters with strange green crystals. A mound of green crystalline fragments and twisted strips of flaking green metal lies to the west.

Of more immediate concern are a trio of strange, blue lion-like creatures. However, their mane is replaced by a number of writhing tentacles. They immediately lurch down and roar at the party!

One tries crawling over the other to reach fresh meat, but the one at the doorway holds its position and launches itself at Shilyn!

The rogue is painfully bitten on the leg; there's a mild itching sensation that seems to fade after only a second. However, one of the tentacles on the mane also slams into Shilyn, painfully bruising her leg, too.

@Mylvwara: Those things are called akatas; strange alien creatures from another planet that occasionally crash land on Golarion. Their most dangerous feature is their bites as they infect victims with nasty parasites that inflict a disease called void death (need a Heal check to identify that). Typically, they're the size of a large puma, but these seem exceptionally large (bear the advanced template).

Varian creates a lucerne hammer and casts lead blades on it since he can't get to the creatures yet.

"Shilyn, get back behind us, we will let them come to us one by one!"

Deaglan readies his axe and shield, while dropping his hammer at his feet.

Shilyn snaps off a quick shot with her crossbow before using her acrobatic skills to attempt to move behind the others.

Shilyn's stab is easily avoided, but she manages to just barely escape another bite attempt as she hides behind the party!

As soon as she moves away, one of the other akatas immediately leaps forth into the open spot (delayed down) and bites at the now shielded dwarf!

Deaglan is nearly caught off-guard by the feral speed of the creature, but he manages to place his shield between him and his foe and pushes the aberration back!

Amnur asks for the party to fallback more so he can get in on the action!

Likewise, the last akata tries to get into the fight, but there is nowhere for it to go!

Orion fires a pair of arrows, hoping he can sneak one of 'em past Varian and Deaglan!

Lirianne pulls out a sword and swings from around the corner at the critter. She then falls back to allow those with better skill at personal combat to take to the forefront.

Amazingly, Lirianne's blade cuts into the blue alien, but not enough to stop it!

Deaglan's axe cuts deep into the flesh of the first akata.

"Mylvwara, get back so we can let one outside and Amnur, Varian and myself can lay on the hurt from three sides"

"Um, what?"

I push myself against the wall away from the akata, "They're aliens, akata. They have diseased bites and they're normally a bit smaller: these are larger than in the chronicles I have read."

Then, I have a bright idea.

I cast invisibility upon myself and slip out of the way, behind Amnur.

Shilyn tries to buy some time for Mylv to move back by distracting the large cat in front. Her eyes darken as she mutters a few words of magic..

fail roll: 1d100 ⇒ 7

only to have her uttering turn into another bout of Elvish expletives as the words don't quite form the way she wanted.

So much for attempting to yank on a cat's tail with mage hand..heh

@Shilyn: It wouldn't have worked anyway; items have to unattended... attached to the body would be attended methinks :) Points for creativity, though! If you wish to keep on being an armored caster, I'd suggest Darkleath Cloth Studded Leather (which reduces the Arcane Spell failure by 10%, so it'd be just 5% for you) or investing in the Arcane Armor Training feat, but the latter requires a Caster Level 3 which means more Sorceror levels).

@Deaglan: Your axe cuts into the beast; it's wounded but still alive and kicking.

Varian swings with all of his might over Deaglan's head.

Once again, Deaglan's shield is the only thing that saves him from the infectious bite, while the tentacles slap harmlessly against his armor.

With gusto, Amnur runs up into the open spot...

The axe kisses the corner hard, almost embedding itself into the stone before Amnur can pull it out.

Lirianne levels her pistols and waits for an opening in the action... and fires!

Running low on spells, I turn to old-faithful and drop grease under both akatas.

@Mylvwara: To make your spell work as you wish, I had to reposition you to get line of sight. Luckily, the invisibility means no AoO while you moved!

The one on Deaglan remains on his feat, but the one jumping up and down behind it slips on the grease and falls flat.

With so many of her companions between the cat and herself, Shilyn chooses to reload her crossbow and await a more clear shot.

Deaglan slashes again at the beast and then steps aside, trying to lure it out so it can be attacked from three sides at once.

Lirianne's shot downs the beast nipping at Deaglan's heels. Deaglan then steps back, readying a strike as he hopes to lure the remaining beast out.

Modified your action since Lirianne's attack made yours moot; however, it still keeps the spirit of your action and I'll use your roll still for the attack
