PFS 6-04: Beacon Below (7-11) (Inactive)

Game Master Sior

Thousands of years ago, a defeated order of Osirian sages sought refuge in the perilous Pillars of the Sun in central Osirian. Until recently they were presumed lost, but recent exploration has uncovered the fortress sanctum they left behind. When the PCs delve into one of its sealed halls, they find the sages’ millennia-old projects dormant but not dead.

Radiant:

Radiant, too, finds himself looking at the drawing which seems to stare right back. He is also unable to figure what the map is trying to show.

The sphinx reclines on the divan in the room as she waits. "Take your time. I am fairly sure this will aid you in your quest to enter the sanctum."

Sareth, I forgot to put a mark on that room. That was the library where you found the documents. Fixed it.

I don't think so, Radiant. You'd be too busy being charmed to really acknowledge the fact that you're charmed. Honestly, it has no real effect on anything. I have no idea why it's even there. Yet another distraction in this damned scenario.

Grimnir moves out of the room and the sphinx reluctantly gets up, stretches, and ATTACKS follows the dwarf.

Heading back through the fog a touch, Grimir feels his way to the other room mentioned. A marble statue stands at each end of this corridor. Purple faerie fire illuminates the east statue, which depicts a Garundi man who is healthy and vital on one side and cracked and burned on the other. The other statue depicts a Garundi man wrapped in linen like a mummy and wielding a staff.

    Know (religion) DC 10:
You recognize the two-sided man as Nethys, god of magic.

    DC 20:
You identify the other statue as Ptah, Osirian god of creation and invention.

Heading north, you spy another set of double doors hidden behind the illusion. Beyond is a fog-filled passage which twists here and there and everywhere over itself. This confusing maze never seems to make sense as you go through it. You end up back at the doors when you shouldn't and seem to be taking a left when you think to go right. The effects of the warding spell do not seem to be letting up at all. As you continue, you see markings along the walls.

Ancient Osiriani plus Linguistics OR Profession (librarian) DC 20:
The markings seem to catalog the contents of some sort of library, even changing to reflect new relics that enter or leave. You can identify the vast range of information stored in said collection — tomes, furniture, scrolls, art, and more. You also realize that pieces of the collection are missing and more are disappearing.

After wandering some more, you come to a passage which is entirely blocked off by webs. Saruna looks and laughs. "Legs and eyes, I have a few. To be like me will let you through. Don't get caught, nor the strands do rend if forward you go and down you descend."

I will thank you to now speak ill of my good and trusted friend the Sphinx master Foehammer. Radiant says after hearing the comments about the double cross. She is but a damsel in distress and we must help her.

The sphinx did indeed go through the webs.

As you make your way through the webs, you see a stairway heading down into darkness. You hear Saruna padding around in the dark, humming to herself as she waits patiently.
