Falksat Infer Noghaltz |
Falksat seems to be happy with that prospect, submerging his Greatsword at once. He then takes it out, looking at the now wet blade, as if searching for anything different.
Osric Longstride |
Osric grabs a fistful of his cold iron arrows and dips the points in the fountain (6 arrows). He also does the same with his axe.
"Thank you for your assistance. Comrades, shall we confront Dakang now?"
Aeshuura |
The young aasimar woman smiles at Nuntio and nods, If you wish, you are most welcome to.
--
You head back toward the priest's chambers and you hear almost a roar, You would believe these heresies that I am accused of?!? I raised you, I fostered all of you, taught you the ways of Korada! This?!? This is how you repay me?!? Insolent fool!
Thoroughly rebuked, you see the head guard stumble out, holding his face.
EDIT: The other guards rush to their compatriot's side to help him.
Falksat Infer Noghaltz |
Perception to see if anything happened to his face: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Falksat looks at the guard with a satisfied expression:
So, the more enlightened the person is the louder it screams? I see you got no answer there mister. Leave it to us. says the Half-Orc, moving to the door with the huge sword in hands.
Aeshuura |
The guard's face is red, perhaps slapped, perhaps struck?
He seems small, as if a child scolded by his parent, but he places a hand on Falksat's shoulder, Please, there must be an explanation. Try to get through to him, there must be good in him. How else could he last so long under Korada's roof?
Aeshuura |
No disrespect intended, Master Swordsman, but you do not seem to understand the value of faith. I find that a little odd for someone that experiences the power of the gods on a regular basis... Of course, this is an assumption from a mere cloistered monk, the second guard says, almost defensively. When his fellow guard puts her hand on his shoulder, he visibly calms.
A thousand apologies, Master Swordsman, the guard says humbly, I am disturbed to find that what should have been a pillar of my faith is not what I have believed.
Aeshuura |
You all head to Dakang's chambers, and see him at the back of the room. The room is small enough that if you all enter, there will not be much room to move.
He sees you enter and shrieks, Heretics! How dare you sow dissent among my faithful!
Falksat Infer Noghaltz |
SM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
You have brought this upon yourself Dakang. If you want to confess what you've been doing you may, just may, walk out of this temple alive. And don't get smart on us, we have all the pieces of your falsehood gathered, we could convince even your mother.
Osric Longstride |
Osric looks at his friends as Falksat steps forward. He says quietly.
"Let's not all rush in there at once. I'd definitely advise you to hang back Donkey Teeth. If this fraud can work magic, we'd best have a backup plan. Rekkr, you and Nuntio should definitely accompany Falksat. Either Sutekh or I can wait just outside here with DT and the other will join you."
Aeshuura |
Dakang's Chambers
This spacious chamber contains a simple bed, a writing desk, and an enormous armoire. A Spiral of Korada is drawn along the north wall, but the drawing is made up of several small marks resembling double-headed arrows. A short stairway leads up to an archway blocked with a heavy curtain.
--
The obese priest is at the back wall. As Falksat walks into the room, with Nuntio and Rekker flanking him, Dakang scrambles up the wall as if some kind of spider, and begins casting something!
Dakang: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Donkey Teeth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Falksat: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Rekkr: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Sutekh: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Aeshuura |
The ceiling to the room is 20 feet high, as the stairs leading up, lead to the balcony of the chapel. Dakang is currently 15 feet up the wall, just out of reach.
I am going to let everyone put themselves where they are on the map around you.
Then we will be ready to go in the morning.

Nuntio moves forward, and after a quick flourish, he grows well over 10' tall.
Falksat draws a bead and barely misses, as Dakang scrambles out of the way!
Casting Defensively: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
With a pulse of dark energy, all of you feel this oppressive force weighing on your soul. Everyone that fails a Will DC 14 takes a -1 to attack rolls and fear saves.
Longbow +5 atk: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

It seems as though Donkey Teeth has squeezed into the room,
Donkey Teeth casts the evil eye hex (DC 14) for -2 AC on the fat guy. Even if he passes he still has -2 for one round.
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Osric Longstride |
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Dang! should have a cloak of resistance and Iron Will!
Osric enters the room, drawing his bow and nocking an arrow. He lets fly at point-blank range with a blessed cold iron arrow!
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
And Deadly Aim. Too many Feats, not enough levels!
I'm not sure if Nuntio is providing soft cover, but I think I still hit.
Aeshuura |
You can move through friendly squares, I just moved you in, because that was what you said you wanted to do.
Will Save for Dakang: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Dakang's overconfidence causes him to falter under Donkey Teeth's Evil Eye!
Aeshuura |
Osric's arrow digs in deep! Nuntio is not, Dakang is high enough that even at your range, he does not get cover.
The arrow seems to sizzle as it digs in to the fat priest, causing him to shriek in pain. His voice takes on an unnatural tone, as he stares death at the archer!

Doing my next turn now:
Speaking again, electricity courses through his hand and into his weapon--which seems suddenly sharper than it was before.
Using arcane point, casting shocking grasp, attacking. I don't think he can reach me, but if he can, here's a concentration check.
Concentration (DC 17) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage if hit: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 1) + 7 = 14
Shocking grasp damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5
Edit:
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
More damage if confirmed: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 3) + 7 = 16
Shocking grasp: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2) = 9
Edit again: Looking at spellstrike, I still get my normal attack in addition to that one.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Damage if hit: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 1) + 7 = 13
Sutekh Amun |
Sutekh, after seeing that, will use his blessed cold iron arrows too . Edit: after that? Never mind :-P
Aeshuura |
Spell strike allows you to take the attack in the same round as the casting. The wording is odd, but what it means is that you cast and can make an attack to deliver your touch spell at the same time.
Nuntio's huge blade digs a deep slice across the fat priest, who sizzles at the blessed weapon! But despite that, the electricity dissipates harmlessly.

Round 1It appears as though Rekkr dipped the wrong weapon into the blessed water. Realizing his sword will not reach the priest he slips into rage, grabs a javelin and lets it fly.

Will Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Rekkr's javelin strikes true, but doesn't seem to pierce as deep as it should have!
Falksat's second arrow flies wide!
Dakang scrambles to try to get out of range of the crazy giant, and casts a spell again!
This time he does not take the extra effort to cast defensively.
Nuntio Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 3) + 7 = 15
Nuntio swings with tremendous force, causing Dakang to lose his spell! He curses at you in an alien tongue, certainly not one of this place. Checked, none of you speake the language.
Sutekh draws a bead again, letting fly with one of his blessed arrows!
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 = 11
I'm assuming I'm still affected by Bane, and hoping Dakang is still under the Evil Eye hex!
Aeshuura |
Osric's arrow catches the priest between the eyes! The priest shudders briefly before the skin of his face splits, ejecting this worm-like beast, leaving behind a sack of skin!
As it falls to the floor, Rekkr drops his javelin and cleaves the worm in half!
Combat over!

The worshipers are grateful for revealing Dakang's purpose and vow to spend their lives unraveling Korada’s teachings from Dakang’s perversions. The worshipers allow you to remain at the temple for as long as you like to complete any of your ongoing investigations into the temple and Korada’s true faith.
Congratulations! You guys pretty much walked over everything, thanks to numbers and having a couple of lvl 3s! Of course, the natty 20 on Diplomacy allowed you all to bypass the aasimar guards, which could have been nasty if you had to fight them trying to do nonlethal damage!
I hope you all had fun! I am going to take a week break, then I will be running Red River Rescue if any of you are interested!
