Without the reroll, of course. But we are waiting for Zorro and Elenial. Still. This combat started 5 days ago and not a single action has been recorded yet...

I was allowing you to do that over, Baldwyn, since that wasn't all that great a roll without the reroll. You can keep it if you want, of course - it would hit.

For what it's worth, Zorro has explained to me that it's his work that keeps him from posting more, not lack of interest.

The Immortal Conundrum: maps, etc.

Razmand decides he's pulled his weight enough up till now to justify running away, while Elenial and Barry catch up. Baldwyn takes a hearty chop out of the first mummy, leaving an injury of the sort that would not leave a mortal human standing, but is not enough to stop this antediluvian horror. Zorro whizzes in for a more personal touch, but frankly tries too hard and fails to connect with this lurching foe - to make matters worse for him, the chamber's ambient cold goes from merely autumnal to truly punishing as he gets face-to-face with the mummy.

nonlethal cold damage to Zorro: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3) = 11

Anyone besides Razmand want to take a crack at a Knowledge (Dungeoneering or Nature) check?

The mummies in the back fearlessly advance as the first one retaliates!

Barry still needs to make a Will save, if I'm not mistaken.

slam vs Zorro: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Now you need to make a Fortitude save, Zorro!

Are you going to take some sort of standard action too, Ramesses? I managed to get you right up in front of one...which does mean you take 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1) = 11 nonlethal cold damage.

Baldwyn suddenly figures out what's up with the mummies' strange appearance, as well as why it's so cold in here: They've developed a symbiotic infestation of brown mold.

I'm actually unclear on what the DC to know this ought to be, but under the circumstances I'll say Baldwyn managed.

Baldwyn waves his bardiche and provides the room with some LONG-overdue ventilation.

Ramesses's sword bounces back very nicely off of a very densely-packed portion of the mummy's mold coating.

Zorro doesn't seem to realize the mortal jeopardy he's just faced, and perhaps in this case, what he doesn't know truly cannot hurt him.

Berry (or is it Barry? I'm just saying, 'tasty little fruit' is kind of different 'President Obama') tries to fight for his Elven companion, but balks unconsciously, while Elenial somehow manages to toss a sling bullet up her own nose.

Razmand moves to support his comrades from a prudent distance, and notarizes the battle with the official sanction of Asmodeus.

Despite their adversaries' rash of bad luck, the mummies show no sign of relenting - nor do their moldy symbiotes. The one in the rear even displays the prudence to stand back so as not to be an impediment to its cryptmate (it settles for a full defense instead).

nonlethal cold damage vs Ramesses: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) = 8

One mummy tries to attack Ramesses, but in a momentary fit of ancient undead senility, mistakes him for the Jackal Pharaoh and raises its fist in salute to him instead.

The other mummy is much less impressed by Elenial's wolf, and swats him hard in the face. Now he needs to make a very serious Fortitude save.

"Very efficient," Razmand comments, and launches a bolt. He's not a very good archer, he knows that, but this is the most he can contribute to a crowded battle.

Remember that Razmand has an awesome ability from his Preacher archetype.

Spoiler:
Determination (Ex): At 3rd level, the preacher is a person of few words on the battlefield, but those words hold great power and authority. Once per day, the inquisitor can use this ability to create one of the following effects. Each is a free action to use.

Aggression: The preacher may reroll an attack roll that she just made before the results of the roll are revealed. She must take the result of the reroll, even if it’s worse than the original roll.

Defense: When the inquisitor would be hit by a melee or ranged attack, as an immediate action she may add a +4 insight bonus to her Armor Class against that attack, and if this makes the inquisitor’s AC higher than the opponent’s attack roll, the attack misses.

Warning: When a preacher’s ally within line of sight would be hit by a melee or ranged attack, she may call out a warning to that ally, and the attacker must reroll the attack and use the results of the second roll. The ally must be able to hear the preacher and must not be helpless for this ability to have any effect.

He has two uses per day of this. The last one is especially useful. So from this point on, whenever a PC (not an animal companion) is going to be hit critically (natural 20) by a mummy, reroll that.

The Immortal Conundrum: maps, etc.

Peachy!

Baldwyn delivers a good hearty chop into his new target (this one looking a bit more decorated than the other two, and was presumably an individual of higher status in life), leaving large rent in it.

Ramesses strikes his bumbling adversary across the chest, and Zorro follows with a hearty pinpoint stab that connects the deep faultlines of its previous two wounds, causing it to fall apart with a sound like a handful of adobe bricks being dropped on the floor!

Razmand suffers an uncharacteristic moment of clumsiness in the background, and gods only know where that bolt went.

Elenial hits her target with a sling bullet, only for it to bounce off. She might as well have been playing a harmless game of wall-ball. Barry, on the other hand, manages to get a nip in, roughing up its knee a bit. Within him, Barry decisively wins a much more important battle with the dread mummy's curse...for the moment.

Even in the face of a turning tide, the implacable undead continue to defend their tomb.

nonlethal cold damage vs Ramesses: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) = 9
nonlethal cold damage vs Zorro: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) = 12
nonlethal cold damage vs Barry: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) = 12
You're all tracking your injuries, right?

The mummy from the back of the room, a somewhat odd-looking specimen, reaches the front lines at last, and raises a menacing fist above Ramesses' head...

slam vs Ramesses, Power Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

...while the other continues its bitter feud with Barry.

slam vs Barry: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

The turning of the tide becomes almost visible as one mummy's fist falls on thin air and the other does little beyond tousle Barry's fur.

Zorro's been feeling a bit underappreciated this adventure; he wastes no time against this newest challenger, delivering a nice deep puncture to its chest.

Barry continues to bite the mummy while Elenial drops her sling and takes out her composite bow and shoots an arrow at the same mummy.
Bite vs. Mummy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Arrow vs. Mummy: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 - 2 = 21 Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Not sure if I calculated that correctly, Elenial has 4 str damage if I got that correctly. At least thats what my Herolab tells me.

The Immortal Conundrum: maps, etc.

Sad to say, you took 6 damage to Strength AND Constitution. However, Strength doesn't modify ranged attack rolls for good or ill - most damage rolls, yes, but not *attack* rolls.

Baldwyn butchers the 'royal' mummy like a salted ham, which falls to the ground in neat chunks!

Meanwhile, frigid dust like some stygian snow fills the air as Zorro continues to methodically perforate the remaining foe, supplemented by an arrow courtesy of Elenial, while Ramesses takes a more concentrated approach - Gorum may be on his side, but whatever dark power drives this mummy appears to be serving as a credible counter. Although clearly beginning to crumble, it stubbornly continues to stand - and fight.

Also, the bold Razmand valiantly pierces the black heart of a thoroughly evil patch of lichen on the far wall.

nonlethal cold damage vs Ramesses: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4) = 8
nonlethal cold damage vs Zorro: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2) = 9

slam vs Ramesses, Power Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
damage: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24

Its desperation is working against it, however....

Baldwyn moves past the animal companion and the fallen foe to get to the other side of the remaining mummy. Using his expertise, he flanks without flanking to slice the final one down.

Flexible Flanker, can treat an adjacent square as my location for determining flanking.

Baldwyn smashes the remaining mummy like an eldritch organic snowman!

Amidst their remains you find their treasure - real treasure, unlike that garish trap in the last room. Each of them wore their finest jewelry from life, which, put together, you'd estimate is worth about 1,650 gold pieces. The one in the middle had something extra: A beautiful leather phylactery, inlaid with gold and coral and etched with Ancient Osirian sacred verse, somehow untarnished by the millennia, unlike everything else around here.

"Very well done, colleagues, Razmand says with genuine praise, clapping as a complement to his high words, "I must say, Baldwyn, you're an expert halberdier. Where I concentrated my subjects on multitude of knowledges, languages, and devices, you mastered the art of vanquishing violent opposition we are deemed to face on nearly every field mission. Bravo!"

That said, Razmand does what he does best; make a casual glance around the burial room (assuming it's not cold anymore) and the ominous double door at the back of the room.

Perception (take 10): 10 + 23 = 33

He does pay extra attention to the phylactery, and attempts to decipher the Ancient Osiriani written on it. Razmand knows the language.

Linguistics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32

It's pretty dense, bits and pieces, it's not your faith anyway so it's not terribly meaningful to you - of course, it's no secret to you that as far as the Ancient Osirians were concerned, if you were going to put writing on something, you might as well put magic on it too....
