Two more ice blue darts appear and blast into the raging primate.

The gorilla reaches an arm through the doorway and tries to grab Kiaru

The gorilla cannot get a hand on Kiaru through the door. In frustration it moves back into the room.

making space. We can snipe at each other through the doorway but cover comes into play and makes it messy. There isn;t quite enough room for it to get through to you, so making space for you all to pile in, if you like.

"Keep your hands off him, you damn dirty ape!"

Once again, ice blue darts appear and slam into the beast.

Yeah, and he is knocked out now

"Good job, Garduk. That ape was wily, refusing to squeeze its way through the doorway. I had not expected such tactical acumen from a beast."

Kita feels bad about the gorilla he had to kill, sighing as he cleans his katana. Not allowing the sentiment to slow him, he moves into the office, making sure there is no other danger lurking in the room.

After ascertaining that the mists have no harmful effect and that the room is clear, he signals the others to enter and search for documents, if they wish.

Kita Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Taman enters the room and looks around.

"Hold! There is someone else up in the rafters."

Looking up to the shrouded figure, he calls out.

"Hello there! Show yourself and state your business! Do you work in this museum?"

A humanoid creature drops from the rafters, almost landing on Taman. It wears the clothes of a museum clerk, but they are ripped and soiled with blood. The face is contorted into a primal ape-like expression.

Seeing that this appears to be a museum clerk, Kita tries to manage the situation with a bit more restraint.

He sheathes his katana, take a 5-foot step closer to the creature and attempts to grapple it.

Probably provokes an AoO, unless you consider him to be flat-footed

Kita grabs the ape-creature and holds tight to it.

“Huh! What did that to him? Or who?”

Garduk considers his non-lethal options and realizes he doesn’t have any prepared. Instead he readies his wand, preparing to blast the simian ex-clerk if he escapes Kita’s grapple.

Taman swings with his sword as hard as he can.

"Noooooo!" shouts Aroden, as the raging barbarian slaughters the grappled museum clerk.
He tries to see if the man can be saved, drawing his wand of CLW and holding it out for someone else to grab.

Hessavi, about to move forward and help with the grapple, instead takes the wand and hurries into the room.

Can I do anything to block Tamran's attack?

"Tamran, let's keep this one alive. He appears to be an innocent clerk."

non lethal attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
crit. conf: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
damg flanked +sneak attack: 3d8 + 21 + 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6) + 21 + (5, 3) = 42

Taman's attack did not kill, or even knock the clerk unconscious. It did hit and do damage though and you get the feeling that he could not withstand another similar blow.

The ape-man struggles against Kita's grasp.

It struggles but cannot break Kita's grips. As the pair struggle a second ape-creature in clerk robes drops down behind Kiaru.

Did Kiaru's attack knock the first ape out? I only ask because it was not mentioned.

Hessavi whirls around at the noise. Tucking the wand away and renewing her grip on her sword, she shouts at the newly appeared creature, "Hold! If there is any sense left in you, you know that you can do little to us."

Sorry, missed that post. I was formatting my post when it went up. Looking into grapple and stuff is time consuming to make sure I get all the rules right. Fun though

Kiaru strikes at the creature held by Kita. He attempts to just knock the creature into unconsciousness. A sad mistake happens though and the creature's head snaps back and there is a SNAP sound as its neck breaks and it falls dead to the floor.

Yup, you killed the clerk.

That's what I was afraid of...

As the possible man turned ape turns limp in his arms, Kita sighs heavily and says a quick prayer to Abadar to forgive those who were only attempting to protect the city.

Wondering how to seek atonement for the part he played in the death, Kita turned to the other combatant, attempting to capture this one in the same fashion.

He 5-foot steps into position, absorbs the AoO, and goes in for another grapple.

Grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

His mind being in other places causes the attempt to be off balance.

The ape-man is not intimidated by Hessavi's words or actions as he brushes away Kita's grasping hands.

Aroden continues bestowing his holy inspiration.

Garduk quickly runs through his mental catalog of scrolls and realizes he had nothing that would be useful with the other Pathfinders in such close combat.

"Oh, by the ever-seeing Eye!"

The scrawny half-orc snarls in frustration, then stalks over to the doorway, drawing his club. He jams it through the doorway and waves it around in the ape-man's face, trying to distract him.

This had better work. When I get back to the Lodge, I really need to work on better options for dealing with transformed Blakros Museum employees. This situation comes up way too often.

Kiaru takes a small step backwards that allows him to develop his attack and launches a blow with his spear at the ape

Combat Over

Between Taman and Kiaru's attacks the ape man now lies on the floor, unconscious and bleeding. Now that the battle is over you hear shrieking screams from inside a battered metal cabinet at the end of the room.

Hessavi retrieves the wand and applies it to the second ape-man. "Let's be ready to grab him if he gets up again," she says.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The ape-mans eyes open and he twitches as he comes back to consciousness.

Kita will fall on the ape man and keep him restrained while others inspect the noise from the metal cabinet.

Grapple,Prone: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 4 = 27

Wrapping the creature tightly, he shouts to break through Taman's rage.

"Taman! He is out of the fight! There is no reason to kill him! Break out of it and go check on whoever is in that cabinet!"

Taman stops with rage.
"Only dead monkey is a good monkey!"

He tries to open the cabinet.

Hearing the banging and screaming from the cabinet now that the shrieking and gibbering apes and ape-men have been silenced, Garduk sticks his head into the office and calls out, "Nigel?"

Taman pries the door open and a bluddery scribe falls out. His fleshy jowls quiver as he recounts the tale of what happened here. The offices suddenly flooded with a strange mist early this morning, and tendrils of it seemed to pour down Kadarnik’s and Yannis’ throats moments before they went stark mad and beat Milgen to a pulp.

Nigel was not in the room. He was taking stock of the pieces in storage in the East Exhibit storage room. I am fairly certain the Tik Taan idols are responsible for the mists and the trouble here. I smelled something wrong with those hideous monkey-faced things as soon as Lugizar brought them out of his pack. I’ve a nose for trouble, I do! No one listens!

"Does someone have a rope we can tie this one up with? Maybe if we get him out of the mists he will revert to human."

From his place on the floor, Kita regards the new clerk. "How is it that you have not fallen victim to the mists?"

My strong constitution and physical fitness, clearly. Now if you have no further questions for me I would like to leave this cured place.

He'll leave unless you have questions for him

"Before you leave, where are the idols now?

Do you have any idea how they can be defeated?"

"Just a minute. Where is Milgen - is he still alive? Who else was in the museum this morning? Do you know anything about where Lugizar is now? How many of these Tik Taan idols are there? What made you suspicious of the idols? They can't be the only ugly items in here."

We know there are three idols. And we know the Jambala Jaeg knives can defeat them. He just said he got a bad feeling about the idols. Not that I mind gathering information, but I have a hunch he has told us all he knows.

I suppose we’ll find out.

Milgen was torn apart when Kadarnik and Yannis changed. I locked myself in the cabinet but heard it. I have no idea where the idols are. I am a scribe, I don't leave the office to wander the exhibits. With that he flees the museum.

Taman starts searching around.

If there is nothing found.

"Guys, let's move on!" Taman exits the room and enters the hallway.

"Guys, what is this?" Taman shows the scraps of cloth to others.
