I've got nothing and it seems that just Jirelle does, but she is like me - not much left in our draw pile.

The Exchange

Nothing I have can help either. Have at it and good luck.

Although I could try to close the Jungle, as it is a 50/50 chance for me, I actually think Jirelle has the better chance, so I'm going to go over to the Fringes to work on closing that.

Fringes of the Eye - Koren

Large Chest

Checks
Strength/Melee 13 (10 + 3 for the Fringes)
Dexterity/Disable 12 (9 + 3 for the Fringes)

Hmmph, even with my Strength spell, I'd only have a hair's chance of breaking open this chest!

I leave it alone and banish it.

Next!

I'm slightly confused as to what you wanted to do. ;)

If you're moving to the Jungle, make your Survival 6 check to close it.

Oh Right I'm at the Fringe

Gents, should I attempt to close the jungle?

The Exchange

Yep.

I missed that the Jungle was empty when I moved there. Since I closed Tempest Cay from the Henchman during the exploration step I can try to close the Jungle during the close location step.

Closing Jungle: 1d6 ⇒ 4

OK going for a six!

Survival: 1d8 + 3 - 0 ⇒ (8) + 3 - 0 = 11

I never roll average on here always max or a 1 :)

end of turn!

Okay, the Jungle is closed. Just the Fringes left and the Villain(s). We have three turns left to find them!

Vika's up!

Not sure what the card name is, but what the hell...

I went through the Shackles with a Card with no Name: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Oh well. I'll end and draw up.

Noting that Ezren has an Augury in hand, I'm assuming that he is using it to find the Villain and put her on top (or looking for Barriers and putting them on the bottom, it ends up being the same). To defeat her, you have to face the Whale first.

Whale

Check
Combat 11

Powers
If undefeated, succeed at a Constitution or Fortitude 6 check or discard the top 1d4 cards of the blessings deck.

Brinebrood Queen

Check
Combat 13 (15 if using Ranged or Attack spells)

Powers
BYA, summon and encounter the villain The Whale. If you defeat the Villain, the Brinebrood Queen deals 1 Acid damage to each character at your location.
If the check to defeat has the Ranged or Attack trait, the difficulty is increased by 2.

I have two cards in my discard pile, so I can offer you 1d6+1 for each of your Combat checks. Vika can recharge her Hammer to give you 1d6 to one of your Combat checks and has a BotG in hand. Jirelle has a BofErastil in hand.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Just got Vinst in the other campaign and now I'm going out to see Zoolander. I expect to work out the combat either later or tomorrow.

And yes, I'll use Augury to put the villain on top.
augury: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Okay, let's do this. Thanks for the rundown of helps.
The Whale
Force Missile+Koren+Hammer: 1d12 + 2d4 + 3 + 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (3, 1) + 3 + (6) + 1 + (1) = 20
Everyone but Jirelle takes an acid damage, mine is Arcane armor.
The Queen
Lightning Touch+Acolyte+Koren+blessings: 1d12 + 2d4 + 3 + 1d4 + 1d6 + 1 + 2d12 ⇒ (3) + (2, 2) + 3 + (1) + (3) + 1 + (11, 6) = 32

Yay!

That's a relief. I was worried I wasn't able to contribute that much to this scenario.

The Exchange

Discarding Blessing and Buckler (for BYA Dmg).

I reveal the Paladin's Helm to take the damage.

And the Whale and Brinebrood Queen are defeated and the scenario is over:

You’re heroic. You’re dangerous. You’re deadlier than the Brinebrood Queen, and more importantly, you’re a threat to any pirate who would sail in the same waters as you. Captain Redclaw’s crew has been whispering about the reason for this dangerous voyage: they’ve sailed south in search of treasure. Your uneasy truce can only hold for so long. After your lengthy voyage, it’s only a matter of time before you can reach port, find provisions, and plan out your next expedition, but when that happens, you’ll still be surrounded by scoundrels. Some might be willing to sign up with your crew, but others may see you as competition. Jemma Redclaw brought you here, but watch your back. If you get in her way, she may decide to take you out.

Scenario Reward: Each character chooses item or ally and draws a random card of that type from the box.

The Exchange

Does Ezren have to do the following?

When Permanently Closed: On closing, add 1d4 random barriers and 1d4 random blessings to this location deck without looking at them, then encounter the top card.

Nicely done Ezren

For our deck upgrade, here is what I have as the list of acquired cards:

Cutlass x2 - Weapon B (one from Ship Plunder)
Arcane Armor - Spell B
Chain Mail - Armor B (from Ship Plunder)
Benevolent Buckler - Armor 1
Parrot x 2 - Ally B
Acolyte - Ally B
Turtle - Ally B
BotG - Blessing B
BofGorum - Blessing B
BofAbadar - Blessing B

If this is right, then we have:

Weapon B x2
Spell B x1
Armor B x1
Armor 1 x1
Ally B x4
Blessing B x2

I'm intrigued by the Armour.

Ah yes, he does. I forgot about the Permanently Closed part.

#Barriers: 1d4 ⇒ 2
#Blessings: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Encountered Card - Pirate Hunting

Powers
Summon and encounter a random ship.

Summoned Ship - Man's Promise

Check
Wisdom/Survival 6
Charisma/Diplomacy 8

Powers
If any check to defeat Man's Promise has the Swashbuckling trait, add 2 to it.

Since we don't have to reset our hands after the Ship encounter, I'm assuming that we will handle any Ship structural damage if needed. So Ezren's roll is really to determine if we get an extra Plunder card or not.

The Exchange

Unless the Ship Encounter changes anything, I went ahead and started the outro process.

I chose Item, and drew Topaz of Strength.
I'd be interested in a Weapon B (for a Greatsword!)

That will be
Diplomacy: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

I can discard one, Jirelle reduces by one, just need one more.

I don't think I have any useful upgrades to take, so I won't change anything.

The Exchange

Discarding Helpful Haversack.

Jirelle can have the Armor, but I do have a nice one in Eagle Knight Dress Uniform. But I can also just upgrade one of my BotGs so I'm fine doing that.

I chose Item for my reward and drew Horn of Battle Clarity. Since it works well with Hireling/Soldier allies and since I don't actually get any allies, I won't be taking it.

KOREN
Deck: Mace, Sagacity, Strength, Paladin's Helm, BotG, Lance, Longsword, Detect Evil, Full Plate, Magic Scale Mail, Holy Water Grenade, Sage's Journal, Gods, Sarenrae, Iomedae
Note: +1 Con, 1d6+1 when discarding a card

We can roll off Koren I'm easy

Sidebar, once you complete the scenario win conditions the game stops immediately. So the when closing wouldnt be triggered on the final location.

Jirelle The Pirate Queen wrote:

Nah, go ahead and take the Armor. We've got one more 01 scenario so there will be another chance for me to get the armor.

Jirelle The Pirate Queen wrote:

Actually, you do have to close the villain's location first. In this case, because none of us had to reset our hands after we were done, it wasn't going to be a problem. It is after you close the location, doing the "When Permanently Closed" effect, and discover that the villain has no where to run to, that you win.

In this specific case, all it ended up being was a chance to get another blessing or another plunder card.

The Exchange

While I love Helpful Haversack in theory, I always forget to use it, so I'll be replacing it with the Topaz.

I think since Koren and Jirelle aren't taking a Weapon, I should be good to take one: Swapping in Greatsword for the Longsword.

I could take Acid Arrow, but does Acid/Lightning/Force make much difference?

Deck: Sling, Augury, Augury, Detect Magic, Force Missile, Force Missile, Lightning Touch, Magic Weapon, Sphere of Fire, Arcane Robes, Eye Patch, Sapphire of Intelligence, Acolyte, Fox, Sage
