Just adding to the list, like flies on an ox. At least someone had the sense to stabilize them. The warrior priest makes a valid point, kidnapping is illegal and they must be punished to the extent of the law. Though now there is the risk of vigilantism... Will it never end? For a moment, Itami disappears from view. As the others make their way down, he appears again. "If I am breaking the law, I will do so without being seen," he comments dryly.
________
Itami uses a round of his invisibility to get onto the ship (hopefully) unseen.

Chained the length of the ship, two to a bench, are 50 filth encrusted oar slaves bleeding from lacerations and open sores and slumped in sleep or exhaustion. The benches form a five-foot-wide aisle down the center of the galley, constricting movement in all but three areas: a 10-foot diameter around the main mast, slightly fore of midship, and the extreme ends of the galley which hold rooms.
At the fore of the hold stands the captain of this vessel, one Gnarl Bonegather. Behind him stands Pardu Pildapush. You recognize him from his office earlier.

Tenibri moves down into the hold, quickly stepping away from the ladder into some free space. He begins weaving together more arcane magic, smearing a small pat of butter between his fingers as he motions towards the gnoll and Pildapush, causing a patch of grease to appear under their feet.
Move: 15'
Standard: cast grease, Reflex DC 16 or fall (marked in grey on map)
Assuming we're tracking movement and rounds starting from when we got below-decks, so not including any movement from above or to get down the ladder. Let me know if I need to adjust.
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

With the sounds of combat, Jiggo sighs. "It's never easy." He runs down the stairs only to encounter the gnoll captain and their favorite slaver.
"By my count, as least 50 slaves. The captain, I presume, and... Pardu Pildapush. Here to protect your investments? Or have we found the kidnapping victim? I'm making a citizen's arrest!"
Jiggo casts Shield of Faith upon himself.

The oar slaves continue their pleas to be released.

GM Ietsuna |

You cannot see Lady Anilah among the slaves chained to the oars. There are 2 doorways at the fore of the ship and 1 in the aft. A search of Captain Gnarlk Bonegather turns up roughly 1000 gp and a small key on a chain around his neck.

![]() |

"Aye, carry on and find our mark! I will help deal with these...the boat has no crew so they have no need for oarsmen!" Sinaryn says as she starts looking for a way to release the slaves.

GM Ietsuna |

Sinaryn sees that the slaves are chained in banks and are locked with a single lock. The lock could be picked or the chain broken.
Falcon opens the door on, what seems after inspection, to be the captain's quarters. This room contains a small desk that folds down from the rear wall and a large, filthy bed.

Likewise, Itami walks coldly past the slaves. For all we know, they were purchased legally. Furthermore, they are not why I have boarded this ship. The aged man follows Sir Falcon and opens the other door, hoping to find Lady Anilah.

Tenibri examines the door and finds that it is locked. He does hear a muffled voice behind it however.
Jiggo, if you like I will allow you to take 20 on a strength check to break the chains. You are under no time constraints so you can just keep bashing away at the metal until it break

Jiggo looks at the chains, looks at the door, and starts whacking away at the chains.
Let's take 20!

GM Ietsuna |

Emerging from the dark room Lady Anilah looks about the room. There are slaves milling about aimlessly within the hold. Gradually they are making their way up the two ladders on to the deck and into the sunshine. Lady Anilah thanks you all graciously. I owe you all a favor I can never repay.
You make your way back through the city, escorting your noble charge. You return to Venture-Captain Alissa Moldreserva. She eyes you up and down, a little surprise on her face. You handled that well. "I uh... don't drink." Jiggo puts his hands up. "But thank you."
Jiggo helps the slaves find solace in the temple of Erastil. "Take this opportunity to restart your lives. Some people aren't as lucky..." Jiggo's mind flashes back to the addict, almost certainly dead by now.

As they are ushering the slaves out of the ship's hold and onto the crowded streets, Tenibri allows the other Pathfinders to move out of the crowd and begin heading back to the Grand Lodge. What he was about to do could upset some of the locals and guards, and he didn't want to catch the others up in any trouble that he might cause.
He stands on the foot of the ship's gangplank, and addresses the crowds.
"These slaves were illegally taken; free people of Absalom and the world shouldn't be subjected to this kind of servitude. All who conspired to break Absalom's laws about slavery have now been punished, but as long as this abhorrent practice is legal, evil people will take advantage and break the rules! A noble woman was taken against her will, among these others. If Absalom doesn't abolish slavery, this could be your mother, your son, your lover! This could be you if you don't fight against this abomination with everything you have!"
Recognizing that at least some of his and the other the Pathfinders' actions today were themselves illegal, Tenibri disappears into the shadows, slipping off and rejoining the other Pathfinders on their way back to the Grand Lodge.
In a region where slavery is legal, deliver a speech against tyranny, slavery, or corruption to a crowd of at least 20 participants. Doing so requires a successful Diplomacy or Perform (acting, comedy, or oratory) check (DC = 15 + your character level).
Diplomacy DC 18: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Activate dissolution's child to go invisible, then Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 to rejoin the other Pathfinders.
I know the scenario is done, and these final mechanics aren't necessary to get back to the Grand Lodge, but it helps explain how he's able to get back without getting himself arrested after freeing slaves and giving a speech against the practice. :)
