Tanic follows along, playing with his new dagger. Seeing if he can drip it onto something and cause it to melt.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

But quickly looses interest and starts paying attention to his surroundings.

Tanic has darkvision too, so he will forgo an ioun stone. If there are enough he will pocket one because it is valuable and just in case something magical messes with him. He wonders privately what would happen if he used it as a sling stone.


As Harro points out you also retrieve 4 'food stones' from the Oozes.

About 40 feet down the corridor Micar spots a similar trap to the one found in the first corridor and uses the crowbar he retrieved to support the flagstone in a similar way.

After heading straight down the corridor for 120 feet you reach a large chamber with a stone fountain in the centre. The basin contains a glowing green liquid which casts strange shadows around the room. At the centre of the pool the rubble of a broken statue rests atop a pedestal. All that remains recognisable are a pair of clawed stone feet clutching the pedestal's top. Carved into the wall are seven niches. Water seeps into one niche (the one opposite where you entered) through a crack in the wall. All the niches are empty of anything apart from piles of rubble. The light in this room seems subtly different, even taking the absence of the ioun torches into account.

Perception 15:

You can just about make out a large quartz vein with strips of gold ore crossing most of the ceiling. At a rough estimate over 20,000 gp worth of gold is present in the vein.

Harro refuses to touch the green liquid, but runs his escape club's tip through it to see if it scrapes up anything valuable like the last fountain.
He shakes his head at the remains of the statue on the pedestal.

"Som'boty didna' like what'er the statues were."

"Hmmm, gold."

Then wanders over by Harro to observe the interesting glow.

Following the others into the new room, and declining one of the torch stones (eyes were more suited to the dark, anyway), Akri looked around warily. "Glabba, you know if there are any oozes waiting to ambush us here?"

Vinexa gave the cube a rather sad look and said, "So much fun you miss out on, maybe we can find a way to show you what you're missing someday. As for not splitting, I don't blame you. It's terrifying to think of simply...ceasing to be." She reached out and stroked Glabagool's side gently, "At least you now have people to remember you and continue your memory, it's a kind of immortality."

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Having regrouped with the others she saw similar hallways and one identical trap that they had to bypass. The statues were different though and their state of destruction called to her darker side causing her breath to quicken.

"Wait, are we in the same room we were in before? It sure looks similar." Talindra looks around for any sign that they'd somehow done just that.


"Glabbagool not think there any other ooze in here. Normal Ooze not like fountain rooms for some reason.
Glabbagool shivers with pleasure at Vinexa's words and touch.

The fountain gives off a very faint aura of magic as in the previous room. Like in the previous fountain there are several patches with a slightly stronger aura and there appear to be items below the surface of the water. Glabbagool approaches the fountain.

"Silly Dark Lady! Glabbagool say rooms are same but not same. Glabbagool not really understand but think it strange magic. Sometimes change in one room make other room change too and sometimes not.

Micar will use detect magic to focus on a spot in the fountain, and reach in to see what he can find.

Vinexa was unsure how to take the compliment from the ooze, Glabagool was the first to ever say something like that to her and she rather wished she could boff him in thanks. Unfortunately that wasn't likely a wise idea so instead she said nothing but stroked him once more while the others examined the room.

"Strange magic, yes," agrees Talindra. Talindra decides to carve a number into the fountain and each of the niches with her dagger, so that if she sees the carvings in another room, she'll know there's some sort of link between them.

"Right," Akri said as the ooze explained about the room. "Anybody else wantin' to get out of here? This place is just a death trap waiting to spring on us."

"Hey Harro, don't your kind have a thing for gold? Did you notice that seam up there? You might want to mark this place down for some future delving of something."

"Did you find anything interesting in that pool? Perhaps I could summon a mite or something to pull something from the bottom..."

Harro snorts in laughter and looks at Tanic with eyes that shows how foolish he thinks the Druid is speaking.

"Pretty-vein sure! No ways to get'em now. Need scaffoldin' and such. Pickaxes, maybe even digger worms to git the whole thin'. Room structure would need supportin' too so it doesn't cause a maj'er collapsin!"

Scratching his beardless chin suddenly however, he speaks aloud without meaning to do so.

"Course...we could SELL the lock-ation to an int'rested party for a good sum."


Micar reaches into the fountain and pulls out a handful of jewelry including a slightly corroded iron ring with some sort of horned creature as its device. It gives off a moderate transmutation aura.

Talindra looks up and sees the hint of gold. "Well that's interesting, there wasn't gold in the room before, right? If these rooms are all connected somehow, makes me wonder if there's some trickery we can do to retrieve the gold from here?" Talindra considers what the ceiling looked like in the previous room.

She checks the newly retrieved item for poison. Detect Poison. And in case there's anything else in the fountain, she also tries to retrieve that. Otherwise, she wasn't sure what else to do. "Okay, next room?"

Micar pockets the jewels and examines the ring a bit more closely.

Closely inspecting the ring Micar concludes that it is an early example of a magical item commonly known as a Ring of the Ram. It has 20 charges remaining.

Muttering to himself as her identifies the ring and seeing Harro look his way at the words, "Ring of the Ram," Micar shrugs and hands the ring to Harro.

Micar will cast Detect Magic again to make sure we're not leaving anything magical behind.

Looking wonderingly at the simple iron ring, Harro narrows his gaze and stares at the ring...seeing nothing magical about it.
Eyeing the suddenly friendly drow askance, he asks about the ring.

"Youse sure?"

Seeing the look he got back from Micar resembling one he got from many drow torturers he's had in the past immediately makes
Harro back down and waves off the previous comment.

"Wat'ver."

Slipping the rind on his left hand, the dwarf feels the tingle of the magic and knows what the ring can do easily.

"NIIICCEEE."

This corridor appears devoid of any traps and you progress down it without impediment.

The basin contains a glowing green liquid which casts strange shadows around the room. At the centre of the pool the rubble of a broken statue rests atop a pedestal. All that remains recognisable are a pair of clawed stone feet clutching the pedestal's top. Carved into the wall are seven numbered niches. All the niches are empty of anything apart from piles of rubble and the carved numbers.

The front of the fountain does not have a number carved into it but rather the phrase "Drink Me"

Preemptive Response - Detect Poison does not give any different response here to that given in the other rooms.

"Look, the numbers on the niches, they showed up here! Well, except for that Drink Me sign. Wonder if that's someone's idea of a joke? Er, Glabagool, is that something you'd want to try?" She figured the stuff was more appetizing to oozes than humanoids.

Talindra also looks up at the ceiling where the gold was in the prior room to see how it compares.

Duergar are immune to poisons. So he's not really risking much unless the stuff if green slime or something similar.

It was yet another room, same as before, except for the cup. She half thought of doing the same thing as Harro but since was relieved she didn't have to do it. She stood idly, bored out of her gourd. Surely they'd find a way out of here soon, especially since she'd need to feed very soon if she was to retain any control over herself.

I wasn't really criticizing your choice. I just thought it funny that right after having Tanic say that drinking would not be wise, Harro jumped right in and did it. Then again I was not aware that Harro was immune to poison. And yet, then AGAIN, traps can be subtle and anything labelled 'drink me' is, by my assumption, a trap :) Though perhaps one of us labelled it? I don't remember and this repeating room thing has me a bit confused - which was probably the intent.

The liquid tingles slightly and Harro feels a pleasant warmth spread through his body invigorating him.

Harro gains 1 permanent point of constitution

Detect Magic shows the fountain to be magical as before but this time the aura is more uniform, without the concentrated patches seen in the previous rooms. There is also a noticeable absence of gold on the ceiling.

As they wandered into yet another room instead of making their way further from their drow pursuers, Akri just sighed and followed along. And really, what was with these rooms? Why would someone make rooms magically connected like these? Just made no sense. Well, about as much sense as the grey dwarf suddenly dipping his finger into the possibly toxic liquid and giving it a taste. As he seemed to suffer no real harm from it, Akri suddenly found himself realizing how thirsty he was. Walking up to the pool, he dipped his hand in and drank a handful of the green stuff.

"Okay, aren't you all getting carried away here?" says Talindra as Akri takes a sip. She watches cautiously for signs of ill health.

The liquid is effervescent and has a pleasant fruity taste. Akri feels a heady rush, the liquid makes him feel really good, although it seems to have done little for his thirst. Akri smiles and sways slightly on the spot.

The liquid has had a strong intoxicating effect on Akri. Take a -1 to all checks until you have completed a long rest or otherwise sobered up.

The liquid feels quite warm, almost hot and has a herby taste. Micar feels a slight mental buzz as if he had consumed a strong stimulant.
+1 to Perception and Initiative for the rest of the day. The stimulant will also prevent you from sleeping at the next rest. You still gain the normal benefits from a rest but suffer -1 to Perception and Initiative for the next day as you experience 'withdrawal symptoms' .

Talindra -> I'll roll for you at the same time as Vinexa (if she decides to drink)

Tanic -> Noted.

Being impulsive by nature, and quite interested in getting and keeping Talindra's attentions, Vinexa nodded, picked up the cup, and drank. Once she finished she handed it over to Talindra.
