Female Catfolk Wilder (Student's Surge) 6/Soulknife 6 (Cutthroat)

Spoiler:

Eoko begins pouring all that she has into defeating the fiend. Again, she begins dancing with her blades, striking at the fiend again and again...

Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Eoko's strike hits home, cutting open the fiend's arm.

The blade in her off hand flashes again...

Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Even though the blade hits, it barely pierces the devil's profane hide.

Eoko, to the audience, seems to stand perfectly still for just a moment. She is aligning her chakras, focusing her qi, into this one last strike...

Flurry of Blows Perfect Strike: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Flurry of Blows Perfect Strike: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

The blade hits home! It rips open the devil's stomach, and darkness oozes out of the wound.

"Two of them! Well then. This should be interesting."

Embry will cast magic fang on Vesuvius, giving his bite attack +1 attack and damage, then use a Swift action to give himself the aspect of the bull (+2 enhancement bonus to Str), then finally move up toward the nearest devil to within 15 feet, careful to avoid Vesuvius' charge path.

Vesuvius then charges at the same devil.
Charge Vesuvius: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Elijah:
You can't Ready a standard action and a move action. You can do one or the other, but not both.

Time seems to slow down, the devil bounding towards you in minuscule increments. You can see the individual grains of dust in the clouds puffing up from its taloned feet as they dig into the ground, propelling it towards you.

You breathe in.

You breathe out.

An arrow sprouts from the devils chest, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. Your hands move quickly, blurring in their speed and precision, an arrow already nocked and drawn before the devil realizes the first has hit it.

You breathe in.

You breathe out.

You take a small step to the side as the devils corpse slides to a halt at your feet, bristling with the broken shafts of arrows.

Once again, the Hellknights in the room go wild, the noise deafening as the previous minutes tension all releases at once.

A cleric comes over and heals you, nodding knowingly as he dangles a pentagram on a chain in front of you.

"Well done," he whispers as your wounds close up, then he leads you over to sit with Bjorn and Vorgal, your companions and now fellow Hellknights.

Congratulations to Legaine on having the what is just about the closest fight possible! Level up and enjoy the show!

Eoko:
The devil is beginning to get irritated, its numerous small cuts finally adding up enough for it to feel them. It jabs at you erratically.

Full attack #1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Full attack #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

The pattern of the fight begins to settle into you. The devil is always just a bit too quick for you to avoid its main attack, but the follow up is always slow and off balance, and once again you manage to divert the blow.

I'm sensing a pattern here haha

Embry:
For reference, I'll now be referring to the devils as O (original) and S (summoned). We'll assume you can tell the difference between the two. The one Vesuvius attacked was S

The devils roar at each other briefly, then nod and turn to glare at you.

O Charge attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
S Charge attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

Crit confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 Failed
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

The original devil charges straight towards you, sinking its glaive into your shoulder, piercing through armor easily. The summoned devil attempts to maneuver around your companion, but the small t-rex clamps down on a fiendish leg and pulls, causing the devil to fall prone.

Sectty smiled and applauded the last approved Hellknight, Legaine, but he otherwise kept his demeanor cool. He wished to have been the first on the arena, but for some reason they've put another one in the first fight. Now the human considered it too easy a task, having observed the tactics that the bearded devils use, but it needed to be done anyway.

He was a big man, in full plate, which made him seem really intimidating. Furthermore, the crossed Greatswords at his back enhanced that image, and his posture denounced he was very proud and confident in himself. No Sectty just had to wait on his turn, and he hoped to be the last so he could finish the show!

Umm, the recruitment page specifically states Order of the Gate.

Sorry for being gone so long. Had a lot of writing to do.

Anybody who's interested can read my battle :P:

Sensing a pattern in the demon's attempts to harm her, Eoko continues with her relentless assault.

Flurry of Blades: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

This time, the blade hits home on the devil's leg.

Eoko again focuses herself on making a perfect strike. Zeroing in on the devil's defenses, she brings the kama down...

Perfect Strike 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Perfect Strike 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Unfortunately, her previous low strike had set Eoko off balance, and she failed to land the blow.

Despite this, she continues slicing at the barbazu.

Flurry of Blows: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

The kama tears open a gash alongside the devil's midriff.

As his name is called, Azin, an average size man with sharp Cheliexian features and black hair steps into the ring. Adorned in black mithril chain and a red hood that seemed just eager for the signifier's cloak.

Behind him walked a much larger being 7 feet tall, red skinned as a devil with black curly horns, a visage of the prince of darkness it would seem. The being carries a great sword and follows the unassuming man.

He speaks confidently to the tall one as the devil is summoned. "Giles, dispatch that Barbazu." Azin commands in a strong voice. Giles takes his sword from his shoulder and takes a step forward.

Elijah:
The devil charges at you, its glaive scything out to taste of your blood, but like a matador, you spin away at the last second, the devil blundering past you as it attempts to halt its momentum.

Sectty:
"Armiger Sectty! This is your time. Do not fail now." You hear your name called and stride into the arena, the confidence born of a lifetime of training and dedication showing in your every movement. You are not nervous, nor are you stoically impassive. You are excited, ready for this chance to push your limits once again. The devil across from you sneers and levels its glaive at you. The gong rings, and battle begins.

Devil init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Sectty init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Embry:
At this point in the fight you're basically all in a line, with you, O, Vesuvius, and then S lying on the ground a little ways away.

The devil looks frustrated, only it's Hellish discipline keeping it from panicking. It roars in infernal at its summoned companion, who is still struggling to its feet. The now flanked devil adjusts it's footing slightly, trying to get out from between the pincers of your attack, and lashes out.

Full attack #1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Full attack #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Eoko:
The back and forth of your battle continues.

The ranks of armigers look like a wave of red cloaks from above. In their number is a man- underneath a crimson hood he is a man. In his heart he is a servant of something higher.
The heart soars with the flight of feathers and steel. The man, he takes a sharp intake of breath. The cloak, it shifts ever so slightly.
The ranks of Armigers stand strong.

In the rafters of the room above him, a small bird considers the scene.

Orth Maul:
"Armiger Maul! This is your time. Do not fail now." You grin savagely and lumber into the arena, your heavy brow and sinewy arms belying the grace with which you can wield your bow. Many have questioned how an orc managed to become an Armiger at all. You plan on showing them. The gong is struck.

Acro Check to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22

The devil sprints towards you before the sound has finished dying, the glaive suddenly appearing in your gut as if by magic. The devil rips it out and sneers at you, confident in an easy victory.

Eoko:
Didn't pass the CL check, so the potion does no healing.

You swiftly back out of the devils range, pulling the stopper on a vial and downing it in one smooth motion. The liquid is cool on your parched throat, but as soon as it hits your belly it burns. The Hell infected wounds devour the potion quickly, negating any benefits it might have had.

Charge attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

The devil charges you, hoping to catch you off guard, but you are ready, dropping the now empty bottle and twisting out of the way of the blade.

Female Catfolk Wilder (Student's Surge) 6/Soulknife 6 (Cutthroat)

Battle:

For the first time anybody can every remember, Eoko speaks. "Damn." Much deliberation is put into that single word. Without uttering another, she resumes her assault on the devil.

The blades flash again and again. One hits, one misses... and one goes for the devil's feet.

Trip Attempt: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Avoiding AoO: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15

The blade swoops out at leg level, taking out the devil's legs from under him. However, this time, Eoko is not swift enough to avoid the devil's retaliation.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Two blades rip open the devil's stomach in an "X" pattern, sending oozing darkness all across the floor.

HP: 24 AC: 21 Damage Dealt This Round: 10!

Note on Eoko's voice: strangely enough, she has a strong Thuvish accent with a leonine pur. I'm looking for reactions from the victors.

Eoko:
You hit the devil hard, lashing out powerfully with your weapon. The follow up strike is bad though, too hard and at the wrong angle. The blade gets stuck in an overlap in the devils armor, ripping out of your hand and clattering to the ground, raising a small puff of dust. You spin deftly, landing another powerful blow on the creature to make up for your lost weapon. The devil growls and presses the attack, knowing it has the advantage.

Full attack #1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

Full attack #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Your spin carries you out of the devils path for a moment, but it easily adjusts its swing and manages to land a blow on you.

Oh man this is getting more tense than Legaines fight!

As the glaive impales Eoko, she says nothing. Nobody sees the light fade from her eyes as she hangs there. Her heart stops. She is gone.

Dammit. I was really looking forward to playing her. Oh well. Should I make a new character?

The room falls silent as Eoko falls limp, blood dropping with a light pitter-pat sound as it oozes from her many wounds. She had fought hard, none could or would deny that. But just as for so many others, it didn't matter. The devil grunts in satisfaction, hefting up the catfolks corpse and marching back into Hell, his victory complete.

Yes, you are more than free to submit another character. Sorry for your luck, it hit pretty hard on those last few damage rolls.

Aye, that end was tough Eoko. Better luck next one man!

Sectty - Round 1:
"As you wish, sir." The large human replies to the hellknight, seeming indeed very confident in his skill. While moving inside he draws one of the two greatswords at his back. This one seems like an old weapon, or at least a heavily used one, since it has dents and missing pieces of the edge here and there. A trained eye would see the blade for what it is: an alchemical silver greatsword. Battered and worn from the use, but still a special metal capable of surpassing most devil's resistance. Perhaps that's the reason why the man is so proud, having prepared enough for this.

Duels to the death are usually full of taunts and promises that are not always kept, but Sectty is pretty sure of what he says next, speaking in infernal so the devil would understand him. Infernal: "Well, better luck next life, devil." And the gong rings while the poor thing was still processing Sectty's words, but the human was ready.

He swung his heavy blade three times in varied movements, with incredible speed, making a hissing sound in the air. Whatever was in the path of that massive blade would certainly be cut in half, and the devil realizes this too late to back away from the battle. Added to the fact that the tall and strong human is perfectly calm, as a tiger waiting for his prey, it's impossible not to feel sorry for the pitiful demon. Then Sectty waits, his eyes on the enemy's, waiting to see if he would dare come to face him.

Using Dazzling Display to demoralize the devil. DC = 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier. If successful target shaken for 1 round. This duration increases by 1 round for every 5 by which you beat the DC.

Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Full attack #2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

The devils blade sinks into you again. You groan in pain, but dodge the follow up strike. Unfortunately, this leaves you open to the summoned devils flanking charge.

Charge attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Another hellish blow hits you. The world darkens as blood pours out of you.

If I'm tracking correctly, the bleed damage will finish you off. Confirm and we'll go from there.

Vorgal got very little out of his short spell with the wizard Aruney, but he did obtain a penchant for note taking. The magi encouraged this behavior as well, so after his fight, Vorgal stood to the side of the arena watching and taking notes. Well, mental notes since the Hell Knights might frown on him whipping out ink and paper.

Bjorn, crazy strong, keeps his head in a fight, stays with the end goal, excellent follow to my initial attack

Legaine, resourceful with a strong desire to survive

Eoko, incredibly quick and... The list vanishes from his mind as Eoko falls before the devil. Shocked, Vorgal watches as the devil disappears and the Catfolk, as he had learned from a hell knight earlier, is taken away. We were all supposed to survive. It was a tough test, but now it was a possibly fatal test.

Embry enters the ring and Vorgal returns to his mental notes. In the Hell Knights, death comes frequently; no better time then now to accept that fact.

Vorgal is leveled up.

Sildred's movement:

I'm probably within 15 feet.
Sildred starts in the south, Devil in the north.
Sildred takes one step south - out of zone of threat.
Then moves to the right. 20ft movement puts him at the edge of the devil's 10ft reach SE

This may help. (D-devil, s-Starting position for Sildred, S-current position of Sildred
