Spenser Quixote |
You see a bit of Russian and questionable Latin, too.
Anyways, Spenser has already introduced himself, see above.
Sele the Thorn |
"Sele the Thorn, Paladin of Milani."
Keera Airbornt |
Keera Airnbornt, druid and really ofended, how do you dare to think I'll slay not only some lions, but also my friend Alacorta to maintain a charade.
Keera expects few people to understand the bond between a druid and her companion, so she omits Alacorta is not human.
GM Chyro |
The lady goes over some of the letters, while you give your names.
She motions for the herald to come closer, and there is some quick talk between them.
She stands up....
"I heard no deception in your claims, and along with some details now mismatching, you are hereby free to go."
She has a servant show you the letters. The words are less than professional, and it has false objectives for each of you. Moreover, there are parts of your names mismatching. These are clear forgeries.
The herald's booming voice sounds once more.
"The lady has spoken. You may leave this court.
Guards! Return to the pathfinders their possessions."
Keera Airbornt |
What the hell is happening here?
Once they're out of the court and, hopefully, far from curious ears, Keera shares her thoughs with her companions.
Did you understand what had happened? I can only think that this was a distraction, created just to make us lose some time.
If that's the case, we should hurry ourselves to locate the relics
Wizard of the Coast |
"Keera is probably right. The court may have been influenced by the powers behind the theft. We need to get those relics back!"
GM Chyro |
Hey guys. On with the last part...which should be easier compared to the nuisance the dark angel gave you.
After your release, and standing back outside, you are approached by a tanned man.
"Phew...i found you...at last. I came as fast as i could.
But let me introduce myself, i am Al’Jahar Abu-Targos, nephew to the late Venture-Captain Targos Min-Katheer.
Your society had brought his remains to us some time ago."
He wipes some sweat drops from his forehead.
"Now, to the important part. Yesterday, i witnessed a group of Pathfinders headed north of Katheer, toward the ancient cemetery where the Chapel of Ubaidah Abd-Hikmah. At first, i thought not too much of it, but when i heard a group of pathfinders was arrested and had to spend time before trial, it seemed suspicious to me.
Therefor i come to you with this information, for i believe you've been set up to take the blame for something."
He takes out a wand. "The gentleman here seems in less than optimal state, allow me please."
Clw Vassago: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Clw Vassago: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

I need a little, too.
GM Chyro |
You are at 33/34, still want it? :)
I've added the recovered HP from sleeping.
Spenser Quixote |
I see, I didn't realize we'd slept.
GM Chyro |
You spent the night in jail. A very posh jail though. :)
GM Chyro |
"The strange thing was, the ones outside looked exactly like you, although a bit more muscular.", he points at Sele and Vassago.
After getting healed by your newly acquainted informer, he gives you some quick directions to get there. He sees you off shortly after.
The travel takes less than a day.
On a lonely promontory overlooking the sea, the memorial chapel of Ubaidah Abd-Hikmah presides over the gravestones of Sarenrae’s faithful.
Scoured clean by the restless winds near the sea, many of the stones’ inscriptions are as forgotten as their inhabitants.
The forlorn cries of gulls drift on the breeze. The ancient chapel’s iron doors stand closed, but fresh scrapes mar their rusted metal.
Nearby, an owl takes flight, as a mouse scurries away from the approaching team, and both disappear behind the chapel.
------------------------
If Keera and Spenser want to heal their 1 missing HP, go ahead. But you will probably wipe the floor with the imposters inside.
Spenser Quixote |
I'm alright.
Keera Airbornt |
Ok for me too
Seeing the owl flight Keera can't think in anything but Alacorta. And her anger rises again, but this time more tempered, she's not going to hurl fire against demons inmune to it, no, this time she'll wait to identify her enemies before unleashing her powers.
Sele the Thorn |
Just before going in Sele will cast protection from Evil on himself and draw his sword.
GM Chyro |
Vassago notices a trio of foot steps, one of a medium sized shoes, and two sets of larger feet.
------------------------
This is it, the final encounter. Sele, there are no flying enemies here, good, no?
Either Sele or Spenser pushes the door open. Several benches stand in the chapel, one flipped onto its back. A broken wayfinder and mining tools lay on the floor.
What the young man earlier said was true, you see two large bulky versions of Sele and Vassago, and Farendir the scholar is there too.
---------------
"Ah, so you've escaped the trials of the court. It matters little, your society's reputation will be smeared, once i'm done with you.
You two- kill them!", the Sele and Vassago sporting a greatclub and javelin, Farendir holding a wand in hand.
Keera: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Sele: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The chapel, round 1
Big Vassago moves forward, and throws his javelin at Spenser.
Javelin toss: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 121d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Spenser hears it fly past him with force.
The big Vassago then grips his greatclub firmly.
Farendir moves sliughtly west.

Big Sele
Spenser Quixote |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"Rally, boon amicae! Together we shalt rend them asunder as a hurricane doth cleave windmills!"
I use Tactician. We all get the benefit of the Precise Strike feat for 5 rounds.
Wizard of the Coast |
Kel casts glitterdust on the two biguns. dc 16 will to avoid blindness
GM Chyro |
Big Sele: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Big Vassago: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Kel conjures a cloud of sparkling dust, but they two big phonies blink in time to resist it.
Spenser, meanwhile, steps forward to declare heroic battle to be commenced.

GM Chyro |
Was that a charge?
You started 30 feet away from him.
Sele the Thorn |
I suppose it would have to be.. I for some reason didn't calculate that.
Keera Airbornt |
[b]Don't worry, amigo. we will take care of the falsifications[/c], says Keera as she casts call lighting and makes a ray fall under the fake Vassago.
damage, DC 16 reflex for half: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3) = 9
GM Chyro |
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 6
The fake Vassago is struck by lightning, but shakes it off.
Sele charges in after that.
AoO greatclub: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27Whack: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (5, 1) + 7 = 13
Crit?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10, but not before the greatclub slams into him.
Together with Keera's lightning, it's enough to drop him.
You see through the spell.
What you struck down is an ogre. Fearful big brutes who loot, murder and rape, be it male or female.
And not in any particular order.
Vassago

Big Sele
What did i tell you of smooth slaughter :)
Sele the Thorn |
Will Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
"They're Ogres.. big brutes but not much staying power."
Vassago Ilsidore |
Vassago moves to the side before summoning some water from the air water. He turns it from a ball to a discus like shape before waving his arms together to hurl it at the copy 'Sele'. "This is for making us look bad!"
Extended Range Water Blast: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 1 = 10
Damage on hit: 3d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4, 3, 2) + 8 + 1 = 18
Apparently it's more of a frisbee and curves wide to the right...
GM Chyro |
Frisbee'ing was a nice time killer while camping. :)
Good times.
As the blast flies wide, Big Sele steps closer to true Sele.
Greatclub: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 142d8 + 7 ⇒ (5, 4) + 7 = 16
=================
The chapel, round 2
With Sele dispatching the 1st of his henchmen, Farendir speaks to him.
"You got to him because of help, but you've felt the impact of their weapons. How about you just surrender and forfeit fighting us, before you're potentially killed..hmm?"
Sele, DC 16 will please...or you're feeling like doing just that.
Not that i doubt you'll fail it. :)

That frisbee'ing was a good time killer while i went camping with my folks....that's it, yes..
Spenser Quixote |
"Thou shalt nicht sway the day in such facile fashion, boar-faced skrum! CHAAAAAAAAAAARGE!"
That's something to point out: If Sele had charged, he would have gotten an additional +2 to his attack roll from my banner, in case that mattered.
I declare a Challenge against Mega-Sele.
scythe vs Mega-Sele, charge, banner, Power Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Big Sele has Spenser coming for him.
Greatclub AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 232d8 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11

Spenser Quixote |
I knew that; typo, I guess.
if you want me to reroll: 2d4 + 17 ⇒ (3, 1) + 17 = 21 O_O
I should be at 22 hit points now, right?
GM Chyro |
You took a scorching ray to the chest in the 1st round.
Spenser Quixote |
You sure about that? That ray only rolled an 11. My Touch AC is 12.
Wizard of the Coast |
Kel casts an acid splash at big Sele.

GM Chyro |
I'll bot Keera.
Kel lobs acid at Big Sele, unfortunately the current struggle prevents his aim from being accurate enough.
3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4) = 9
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Big Sele evades part of Keera's lightning.

I thought I failed that last save by 1? and then I roll a 20 which i may lose due to stupid saves
GM Chyro |
The failed save caused you to forfeit fighting, suggestion lasts an hour per CL, sorry. :)
What else will it be?

Big Sele (-25)
Spenser Quixote |
The failed save caused you to forfeit fighting, suggestion lasts an hour per CL, sorry. :)

I think you can still heal, *hint-hint*
Sele the Thorn |
Second will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Sele almost falls for it but his protection spell flares up and saves him from the suggestion for the moment.
Just found this -> Protection from Evil
Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person. This saving throw is made with a +2 morale bonus, using the same DC as the original effect. If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target. This spell does not expel a controlling life force (such as a ghost or spellcaster using magic jar), but it does prevent them from controlling the target. This second effect only functions against spells and effects created by evil creatures or objects, subject to GM discretion.
GM Chyro |
I was doubting on that one earlier, frankly, since the following:
Is it from an evil caster: Yes
Is the spell Suggestion a compulsion &- or, enchantment?: yes
Yet...
Is Farendir (fake?) taking direct mental control of Sele, that Protection from Evil mentions?
No. Charm person, Command & Dominate allow this, and mention it. Suggestion doesn't mention being able to do so, this leads me to believe it is more a pacifier. Magical Diplomacy, if you will, applied in this case.
Spenser Quixote |
I'd argue that healing his friends doesn't count as fighting so long as he's not making attacks of his own.
GM Chyro |
+ to that, i was just pulling a leg there. ;)
Sele the Thorn |
So your saying that "making" a Paladin surrender is not exercising direct mental control? and or not likely to cause him harm as per suggestion which makes the spell not work?
GM Chyro |
I agree it is debatable.
I went for this way, since he can't make you attack your friends, and only goes as far as give the amply named 'suggestion', that it was safer to surrender, to avoid needless trauma.
The spell's effect made it seem reasonable, but he can't control what you do other than that.
Sele the Thorn |
What does surrender mean to you then? This is important as it will help define what I can do, surrender to me means throw down your arms and surrender to your enemies will?
