Dretch. I said dog because I had no idea what the icon was. Too tiny for my old eyes. <evil grin> More likely success vs. a dretch, since they don't have 4 legs. Though a whip's 15' reach DOES put one or two of the dogs to the left in his reach, that's not the icon I was looking at.

LOL..Ok the objects to your left are fire pits (by Maja). The dogs are all outside of the campsite in the woods. You would have to go across the barricades and firepits. I increased the size of the map :) I will remember to make the maps bigger for the older eyes :)

Perri threatens out to 10', and gets up to 6 AoOs per round at the net +10 modifier. Please roll AoOs as opportunities are created. Yes, he can trip as an AoO (or disarm), but neither seem particularly useful versus the dogs.

Perri comes out all wild-eyed and in an emotional fit. He pulls his whip up and fires it at the dretch as if trying to tear its leg off. The whip lashes around both of the blob-like creature's legs at the knees and he deftly pulls his whip with a dexterous fleek. The creature is upended as green gore and black blood fly from his other wounds. Perri, with a flick of the wrist releases his whip and quickly sends it back at the dretch hitting the creature on the face but it seems the creature's skin is far to tough for the whip to affect it in any lethal manner. It quickly becomes obvious to Perri the whip will not do any real damage to the creature. Natural AC +3 whip has no damage effect on the creature. The dretch is now prone on the ground screaming.

Bynoth has an Attack of Opportunity.

Prone:

Prone

The character is lying on the ground. A prone attacker has a –4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow). A prone defender gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a –4 penalty to AC against melee attacks.

Standing up is a move-equivalent action that provokes an attack of opportunity.

Dretch CMD 12/ Perri's Whip CMB 21. He has 5 more AoO this round.

Harry shakes his head in resignation as the headstrong fighter heads out to deal with the demonic foes. Moving slowly to the doorway he peers through it to get a better sense of the situation. Even though the dretch demon was being occupied by his companions, he also could still hear the baying and howling of the possessed hounds.

The sight of another demon just outside the fiery pits fills his heart with dismay, which he quickly fights back. He knew of a spell which would...occupy the demons but he hesitated to cast it here, as his aqueous orb would extinguish the flames which were keeping the hounds at bay.

Bringing the words and gestures to the tip of his tongue he prepares to open a tiny conduit from the elemental watery plane....

Ready action to cast Aqueous Orb should the hounds breach the perimeter.

Actualy, Perri has the Whip Feat that makes a whip a fully lethal weapon . . .. Just one that never does much direct damage. Archives of Nethys or PFSRD20, as you prefer. I do understand most of the limits on the character I built.

Also, since it is BEING tripped that provokes, the target is not considered prone for the AoOs in response. Now, when he goes to stand, he starts prone then . . .. Doesn't really matter if you reverse that perspective or not, as long as we maintain consistency of targeting the starting or ending condition and don't flip-flop.

** spoiler omitted **...

Correction

The whip strikes the second time and it is a vicious hit but the creature's demonic flesh seems to absorb a good deal of the blow. Green gore and black blood fly up as the whip shreads the thick flesh of the creature's face. Ripping away the cheek showing more teeth and a whip-like tongue inside of his skull. The thing staggers back a step and howls in frustration and anger. The dretch behind the wounded one howls as well...AHORGAAAAAA!!!

There IS an AoO. Perri's Greater Deft Maneuvers makes BEING TRIPPED by Perri a provoking action.

I love the Greater Trip action with the Greater Disarm AoO combo. Put them on the ground and throw their weapon 15' away. No damage dealt, but a pretty significant change in the battlefield dynamic . . .. If your opposition wields weapons, anyway.

You can do much of the same with Greater Reposition, actually, as the opponent's unwilling movement provokes using that feat. Thing is, even with Quickened Reposition, you can't use it as an AoO, only on your turn. Quickened Reposition, though, let's you get a full iterative attack in on your turn . . ..

Sylas

Sylas sees the air elementals clear the air around the campsite. As the whirlwinds shoot the green gases up into the air above and disperse it without incident.

As it does Sylas calls upon his arcane powers the companions can hear him calling on those powers in his incantation as he evokes powers of fire. Out of his hands, he forms a pea-sized ball with the flames that gains density. The fire is then encased with arcane powers as he points his finger and says the final evocation sending the magical ball of fire towards the pair of dogs to the south. It immediately grows in size as it shoots forth and impacts just past the privy and fire explodes outward engulfing the trees in its hot flame. The privy explodes and burst into a thousand firey shards of wood. As the flames disperse Sylas can see there is nothing left of the pair of infected dogs.

Two infected dogs - hp12 (damage 29) burned to ash

Plague Dog - CMD to beat WEB DC17

Plague2 Dog - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Possessed Dog - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

The possessed dog manages to make its way out of the web that Sylas cast. It moves the edge of the hill just out the campfire light. It's green eyes peering into the camp. It howls but there is something in the dark howl. The dogs near him turn and bark and yip at him as if to protest. The other infected dog in the web yips and howls in frustration as his brother moves off north down the trail and away from the camp.

North Group of Dogs

The group of dogs seem to argue with the possessed dog still sitting on the hill but eventually they all turn and move down the north trail in a full run. Into the darkness and the wooded trail they disappear.

The 2nd Dretch

Moves over the fire pit with little concern for it. He moves towards Thanim in choppy steps and attacks the priest with little regard to itself.

It lunges at Thanim with its claws but recoils almost immediately as if hitting some kind of field. It become angrier by the moment but it simply can't touch the priest as it has no power over him with the protection spell that he cast.

Protection from Evil

The air elementals have completed their task of clearing the campsite of the gas last round.

I am assuming that Perri's attack above is the beginning of Round 5...

The dretch approaches and Thanim braces himself. The evil demon strikes with great fury, but the blessing from Pelor obstructs his attempts to do harm. Thanim smiles, radiating an inner light, "Foul beast of the dark! Your evil will be outdone by good. You will not prevail!" Suddenly, Perri's whip lashes out and the creature is thrown from his feet. Seeing his chance, Thout raises his mace and strikes mightily as the beast tumbles. "Cower before Pelor! His light will be your end!"

As it does Perri returns the head of his whip right back into the legs of the Dretch and as Perri pulls his whip tight the terrible creature's knees bang together and his body collapses to the ground. As the creature falls Perri deftly pulls the whip back seeing an opening he lets his whip fly again. This time the whip strikes a wicked blow across the creature's stomach eviscerating the thing. As his whip pulls back the creature's steaming guts follow dropping out to the sides as it hits the earth. The thing lies still and foul vapors rise up from it as it begins to bubble and collapse in on itself.

As he pulls his whip back Thanim pounces and finishes what is left of the creature with a mighty blow to the chest sending foul ichor and black blood everywhere. It is now nothing more than a bubbling blob of otherworldly green and black gore.

The two air elementals swoop in and around but stop short of the tree line as they see the otherworldly creature of the abyss has been destroyed. They cry out as if eagles in a wind storm...Sylas can feel them press upon his will to release them so they may return back to their plane of air.
