Fabian says to Aravashnial, "Likewise. We will do our best to get out of here. Please let us know of any insights you have that might help us find the surface."

He will go over to Horgus after his companions have healed him and ask him, "Are you feeling any better? Do you think you will be all right?"

Finally, Fabain will carefully inspect the shrine to make sure it is otherwise clear and safe. If it is, he will say, "I believe that this is a safe place for us to rest. We should do so, and recover some strength. It will also allow me and others like myself who use arcane energies to recharge them. I do better if I have eight uninterrupted hours of sleep, so I would prefer taking first or last watch."

Bollwerk would ask Sarrien to help him clean this temple. And of course everyone who is willing too.

Who is doing what: watches, temple restoration, resting, loot distribution?

While the temple is being cleaned, Lucille sits outside in the cavern and watches for more bugs. She'll sit with whoever else is out there, watching over them, but not saying much. Once they get the all clear to move into the temple, she will help the injured inside.

When it comes time to divvy up watches, Lucille will volunteer for the middle watch.

Kazul will take first watch as well as a potion of cure light wounds. He will give the remaining potion and MW morningstar to the paladin.

Fabian says to Kazul, "May I take first watch? That will allow me to get the uninterrupted sleep I need to prepare my spells in the morning. That will take me an hour of study with my spellbook then."

Male Human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager, Urban) 5 / Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 -- HP 67 : AC 20 CMD 21 TAC 11 FAC 19 : F+9 R+4 W+4 : DR 4/- INIT+2 Perception+10

Dieter volunteers to take second watch.

Kazul will take 3rd watch then.

Four hours of solid work restores the temple. As the final touches are finished, the green glow disappears and the whole cavern is bathed in a pale white light. Each of you is infused with a sense of serenity and confidence.

You have the benefits of a Bless spell.

The night passes without mishap, even the angry exchange between Anevia and Horgus is forgotten while you rest. The next morning, or as close as you can figure it to morning, you prepare to set out. It's obvious that Horgus wishes to say something to Anevia, but can't bring himself to approach her. The morning preparations are short and to the point, and soon you begin down the tunnel. The walk this morning is particularly long and winding, cutting in a seeming roundabout fashion, but you never encounter any side passages. Suddenly, after what seems like hours, a larger cavern looms ahead. Only this time, it appears that this cavern is man-made. You can just see statues lining the sides of the cavern at the edge of your light.

M Human Wizard (Abjurer) 6/Archmage 1 ; HP 43/43 | AC 16, Touch 12, Flat 14 (Amor +4, Dex +2) | Fort +5, Ref +6, Will +8 | Init +2 | Perception +10

"Let us proceed, but with caution," Fabian says.

As the group walks forward, he looks at the statues, and tries to determine if he can recognize them as being either standard arcane figures, historical figures, extraplanar creatures, or religious figures.

Actions:

Take 10 on all of Knowledge (Arcana, History, Religion, The Planes) for 17 in each case.

Male Human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager, Urban) 5 / Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 -- HP 67 : AC 20 CMD 21 TAC 11 FAC 19 : F+9 R+4 W+4 : DR 4/- INIT+2 Perception+10

Humanoid-shaped statues?

Stone figures are carved into the walls of the cavern. Each depicts a crusader clad in armor and wielding weapons, but their carved stone features contain expressions of sadness.

Come morning, Lucille takes her now-usual spot as rearguard. She nods agreeably at both Horgus and Anevia, but only speaks if spoken to.

When they enter the cavern with the statues, Lucille frowns at them, but continues on.

Male Human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager, Urban) 5 / Fighter (Unbreakable) 1 -- HP 67 : AC 20 CMD 21 TAC 11 FAC 19 : F+9 R+4 W+4 : DR 4/- INIT+2 Perception+10

Dieter approaches one of the statues to get a better look, trying to see if they bear any insignia or heraldry that would suggest their origin.

Anevia describes the statues to the blind elf, talking about their arms and armor, and their sad countenances. There is no obvious insignia, but as she finishes, he gasps.

"These must be from the children of the first crusaders!" He waits for a reply, then continues. "There is a legend in Kenabres that the soldiers of the First Crusade, tainted by their exposure to the Worldwound, gave birth to hideous mutants. There was no evil taint to these children, but they were persecuted nonetheless. The legend holds that these people fled with their deformed children to the depths under the city, to hide from their trials above. There is no other explanation for these carvings!"

His excited discourse echoes in this cave, drawing all of your eyes to the sad, strange figures.

Dieter: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

Fabian: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Suddenly, things go dark around the group. Two dark forms, barely visible in the dark, plummet from the ceiling and attack! The first drops on Fabian, missing him with its stalactite-like body. The second dives at Bollwerk, slamming into the paladin and wrapping him in the folds of its hideous skin!

Unless you have low-light vision add your 20% miss chance to your roll posts.

Dieter is using his Halo ability. "Halo - An aasimar with this racial trait can create light centered on his head at will as a spell-like ability." Everything within 30 feet is well-lit.

"Gah! What happened! Something just fell past me, attempting to hit me!" Fabian calls out in the darkness that's just come up around them. Although dark, it's still just dim enough to make out shapes (GM, that's right, yes? I'm basing this on your stating 20% miss chance.) Fabian instinctively holds up his staff, putting out a protective field around him that will help the defenses of him and his allies nearby.

Actions:

By the way, for the day, Fabian's scool resistance is to Fire. If I don't specify on a given day, assume that's what it is.

Protective Ward is a Su, so it won't trigger an AoO. This will give Fabian and all allies within 10 feet of him a +1 Deflection bonus to AC, for the next 3 rounds.

Lucille's musket shot splatters one of the creatures, while Bollwerk's sword skewers the other. The ichor hasn't even hit the florr when you hear a manic scream.

"By the Nine Hells, where did that come from!?"

The scream and the spell comes from this creature, who wasn't there a moment ago. A crazed dwarf, he reels from Fabian's magic missile. He quickly withdraws to the mouth of another cavern, preparing a spell. You notice his outlined is blurred and is hard to make out.

Dieter and Bollwerk may go. Still under Bless and Fabian's ward. Then the dwarf, then Lucille.

Kazul slides over into the shadows along the wall and hides himself. Anevia helps the fallen elf, who chastises Bollwerk. "Sir Paladin, I'm not so fresh yet that would cast spells blindly...literally." Horgus continues to hide behind Seren, only a slight whimper coming from him now.

Lucille runs across the cavern, drawing her bow as she does so. This wasn't any kind of dwarf she had encountered before. Gruff, yes. Angry, of course. But raving mad and casting spells? Never.

She settles into the notch into the rock just south of the passageway Millorn stood in, nocking an arrow and sighting in on him.

"We ain't here to fight you, Millorn," Lucille shouts to the dwarf. "But you insist on a beatdown, you best keep your eye on me, cause I'm the one fixin' to give it to you."
