Kazul the Bear |

1. Do these mongrels look different from Lann and his kin? Do they share similar physical traits? Could I use the Scale to look like one of them?
2. Can Kazul be 10' further away from the mongrels, from his current position?

Kazul the Bear |

Okay, then after getting a look at the mongrels, out of sight, Kazul will use the scale to shift into a mongrelman, gaining +2 Strength size bonus.
Stealth check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Then Kazul will move into 20' range and launch a javelin at the closest mongrel in the surprise round, yelling back to the party, "We have found the enemy!"
Attack vs. FF AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + (6) = 15
Hope this was not a dumb idea. I was going to try for a Bluff but realized that Kazul does not speak Undercommon and did not think calling them out in Common would work. So I went with surprise attack and hopefully win initiative and get 2 sneak attack chances in!

Old Guy GM |

The mongrelmen react with shock as Kazul appears and launches his attack. The javelin takes the one nearest the door fukk in the chest, and it sinks to the ground, red blood already bubbling from its lips.
Init order:
Bollwerk, Kazul, Farasha
Mongrelmen
Dieter, Lucille, Fabian
You will see that you are not really on the map. Consider yourselves entering on the first eligible square, then go ahead do your thing.

Dieter Stolzdorf |

Here, you missed some punctuation.
The mongrelmen react with shock as Kazul appears and launches his attack. The javelin takes the one nearest the door, "Fukk!", in the chest, and it sinks to the ground, red blood already bubbling from its lips.
Dieter rushes forward to meet the enemy. Advance to N10.

Kazul the Bear |

Actually, GM, I aimed at the closest one, which would be the one in N14.
Kazul sprints as fast as possible, moving into the dead mongrel's square, and before the others can tell what's going on, he grips his falchion and swings at the mongrel closest to the door in N15, trying to take him out and prevent the rest from escaping.
Move action to N14.
Standard: Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 2d4 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 7 + (4) = 13
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Additional damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (1, 3) + 7 = 11
Total damage: 24
AC: 18
OH!! That looked awesome, that whole scene! Sometimes the dice create those movie moments! I can die happy! LOL...

Farasha Aeval |

Farasha intones a simple prayer to Desna, asking for her hand to help guide the group in this fight. Tiny motes of starlight twinkle momentarily around the party's weapons.
She then moves down the corridor quickly so she can get line of sight to the enemy guards.
Casting bless, +1 to everyone's attack rolls and saving throws v fear. Moving 30 ft down the corridor in Bollwerk's wake.
1st - Remove Fear(d),
0th (at will)-create water, detect magic, light, read magic

Old Guy GM |

Kazul's falchion cuts down another of the guards before he can react to the half-orc's onslaught. The remaining two jab at him with their spears, one passing over his head, the other creating a deep wound in the leg. 7 pts
Both mongrelmen call out an alarm, a high, ululating cry that echoes down the corridor.
Dieter, Bollwerk, and Farasha move forward.
Bless is up, Fabian and Lucille; then first group goes again.

Fabian Moldonado |

Fabian runs forward (to square O7). Gripping his staff, he then activates an arcane protective ward, which will grant all allies within 10 feet of him (including himself) a +1 Deflection bonus to AC for the next three rounds.

Sweet Lucille |

Lucille runs forward, musket in hand. (To O8) With one enemy in sight, she takes a shot.
I believe she's got line of sight from O8 to M14. If that's not true, then she'll take a double move instead of shooting and end up at M12.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 9 vs Touch (+attack+PBS-in Combat) please add any Cover mods
Damage: 1d12 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Farasha Aeval |

Farasha moves further down the corridor to where it branches out (to O13), nocking and drawing her light-imbued arrow as she does, releasing it the moment it is in line with the Mongrelman trying to stab Kazul in the back (O15).
longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 9
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Gah, even bless and PBS can't save that roll! Here's hoping the arrow at least lands somewhere where the light will be useful!

Bollwerk |

Bollwerk moves forward and attacks one the mongrelman.
Moving to M13, I guess the mongrelman has Cover but I can still attack
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 101d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Old Guy GM |

The door behind Kazul opens and a spear jabs into his exposed back. 3 pts dmg K The mongrel in the corner steps up add his attack as well, but misses!
The third enemy whirls on Bollwerk, sneering with its lopsided face at his pathetic miss. Its short spear carves an ugly gash across the paladin's arm. 5 pts dmg B
Somehow when I redrew the map, the coords changed, so I tried to get you back in the spots you were in. Group 2: Lucille, Fabian, Dieter.

Sweet Lucille |

Lucille reslings her musket with a disgusted look on her face, then moves forward, drawing her whip and short sword as she does so.
Move action: Sling musket
Standard action: Move to Q18
Free action: Draw whip and Cold Iron Short Sword

Dieter Stolzdorf |

Move east 10 feet to P19. Attack O19.
Dieter whips his rapier through the air, attempting to land a blow on one of the mongrelmen.
rapier 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 131d6 ⇒ 3

Fabian Moldonado |

Fabian moves forward and squeezes into O19, so that his protective ward will apply to as many of his allies as possible. (+1 Deflection bonus for allies within 10 feet, will last 2 more rounds.)
Once there, he brandishes his staff and speaks some arcane syllables. A faint golden bolt of magical force shoots forth from his staff, striking the closest mongrelman.
Magic Missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Farasha Aeval |

Initiative now wraps to the first group again, so...
Farasha draws another arrow, taking a couple of quick steps to reposition, then taking aim and firing nearly point blank at one of the mongrelmen menacing Kazul
move to Q18, targetting enemy in P20
longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 25
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Farasha Aeval |

Hmm, missed that sorry! Nowhere else really to move to without provoking AoO so Farasha will stay where she is and accept the soft cover penalty for people in between her and her target
25-4=21 total versus Mongrelman AC

Bollwerk |

Attacking the one in front of him, Bollwerk presses the attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 But the barricade between him and his enemy prevents a clean hit.

Old Guy GM |

Assuming Fabian would cast then move...
Fabian's magic and Kazul's blade work to cut down the mongrel between them. Farasha wounds one with her shot. That mongrel in return strikes at Dieter and hits, stabbing him in the shoulder. 4 pts Dmg Dieter, rolled a 22 exactly.
The mongrel in the doorway steps back, as two more enter the room beyond. Then, the twang of a bow signals the arrival of a new player. The arrow embeds itself in Kazul's thigh with a sickening thunk. 2 pts Kazul
Bollwerk, check your damage, you should have 5 pts on you. And Kazul, your did not hit last round.
Group 2: Lucille, Fabian, Dieter

Fabian Moldonado |

Yes, cast then move was right, thanks. I thought I'd moved to a safe spot, but must have goofed up.
Fabian will delay his action. If his companions are able to take care of the Mongrelman in the doorway, clearing the way, then he'll take a five-foot step forward into the doorway and cast Color Spray, with the cone down and to the right. The cone will catch two of the mongrelmen, requiring them to make a DC14 Will save to avoid the effects.
One round remains on the +1 Deflection bonus to AC from Fabian's Protective Ward.

Sweet Lucille |

Lucille's whip lashes out at the remaining Mongrelman, as she attempts to make him drop his weapon.
Standard Action: Disarm Maneuver vs Mongrelman at P20
Move Action: If disarm was successful, move to Q20
Disarm: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18 CMB+Disarm wpn bonus

Old Guy GM |

Lucille's whip cracks, and suddenly the mongrelman finds his spear spinning off into the corner. Lucille then leaps the barrier to flank the disarmed creature.
Fabian delayed. Dieter has options, his Parry Op and/or an attack this turn to deal with the last mongrel on this side of the door. Then they will go.

Dieter Stolzdorf |

Parry 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Parried!
Riposte 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 201d6 ⇒ 4
Dieter parries the mongrelman's swing with a flash of his blade. "Not today!" He bounces on his feet and thrusts with his rapier in response.
5-foot step south.
Standard attack w/ flanking 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d6 ⇒ 6
Panache 3/4

Old Guy GM |

I don't have the map here at work, but I'm pretty sure you can't step south because of the barrier, and the flanking position was taken by Lucille. You hit anyway...
Dieter parries with a flourish, just before Lucille's whip takes the spear. Then he strikes quickly, twice, killing the mongrel.
Fabian steps up to the door and casts his spell. The riotous spray of colors knocks both mongrels to the floor, unconscious.
Mongrels go, will have that tonite.

Old Guy GM |

Fabian, looking closer at the map, I adjusted your move and the effect of the spell. Based on the angle you have, the top two would be your only targets. Same effect though, both knocked out.
The two remaining mongrels take up positions flanking the door, out of line of sight from you. The bow twangs again, hitting Kazul in the shoulder. 5 pts Kazul, yes, I am giving you cover for the door.
New round, Kazul (severely wounded), Farahsa, Bollwerk.

Farasha Aeval |

Farasha sees another arrow hammer in to Kazul, seeing his need and unconcerned for herself, she lowers her bow and moves swiftly to his side with a prayer of healing on her lips.
move to O19, spontaneously convert Prot from Evil to CLW
clw: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Reaching out and laying a hand on his chest, Kazul swears he saw it trailing stardust before a pleasant warmth envelops his wounds, causing the arrows sticking in him to fall out of his wounds as they partially closed.
Kazul heals 5 hp
1st - Remove Fear(d),

Old Guy GM |

Both mongrels strike at Bollwerk as he charges through the door. One attack glances harmlessly off of his shield, but the other cuts a gash in his sword arm. 2 pts Bollwerk
The mongrel archer, now obvious as a ranger of some sort, smiles as Farasha comes into view in the doorway. She takes careful aim and fires, but the arrow impacts harmlessly in the frame of the door. With that, she gives a quick whistle, and a huge monitor lizard pushes its way into the room! (from H3) It bites fruitlessly at the paladin, who fortunately was taking no chances, and defending against all opponents. See? Told you, missed you by one. ;)
Kazul, Farasha stepped into the last available square to heal you, no 5' step.
Next group, Lucille, Dieter, Fabian

Dieter Stolzdorf |

Dieter dances around Fabian through the doorway and thrusts at the southernmost mongrelman.
Move to P21, attack Q21.
rapier 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d6 ⇒ 3 sad trombone noise

Farasha Aeval |

Not my turn yet but can't help posting when good opportunity presents!
Farasha watches the mongrelman archer cooly as they take aim, breathing prayers under her breath and smiling as the arrow thunks in to the doorframe.
The fingers of her hand flex as it moves towards the quiver strapped across her back. She catches the enemy's eye and with a tight smile, mouths
My turn...

Fabian Moldonado |

Fabian holds up his staff and refreshes the arcane ward that helps protect folks near him.
For the next three rounds, those within 10 feet of Fabian get a +1 Deflection bonus to AC.
