The sorceror ducks Kazul's swing as he darts out of the door. He leaps over Bollwerk...and right into Sjurd's spear. He manages to stagger forward, but his spell is ruined.

Farasha puts two more arrows in the air, desperate to end the sorceror's threat.

Fabian finds himself in an awkward position. He can't move far enough away from the man without putting himself in a position where the man would be able to bring his ranseur to bear. He stays put, and holds his staff in a defensive posture.

Taking total defense. That increases his AC this round to 17, including the total defense and the +1 bonus from from his Protective Ward.

Effect in progress: Protective Ward. Allies within 10ft of Fabian get a +1 Deflection bonus to AC.


Internet crash...Pushing forward...

One of Farasha's arrows pierces the half-orcs leg, while the other embeds itself in the wall behind him. Sjurd misses his stab, this enemy proving much harder to hit than expected!

Kazul steps over the fallen Anevia and Bollwerk and strikes, but cannot connect.

"Muhahaha! You cannot kill Vagorg! He will kill you all and dump your severed heads on the lap of that half orc traitor!" He sidesteps and stabs at Farasha, but is foiled by Fabian's ward!

Its not a dagger, he has a wicked-looking ransuer. And no, that spell would not help.


Vagorg steps back again, stabbing at Fabian. The ranseur cuts a nasty gash in Fabian's side, drawing a cackle from the sorceror. 8 hp dmg, Fabian.

Standing up and pickung up radiance finally joins the fight again.
"You can blind me, but now its time to finish this!"
Move action stand up, Standard action pick up weapon.


Kazul steps south, "I tire of this!" He swings his falchion at the half-orc!
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (4, 4) + 7 = 15
Confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7...no


Vagorg ducks the first arrow, and in so doing, gets hit by the second. He stands upright with a shriek...only to take a savage blow from Kazul's falchion. The blow knocks him to his hands and knees. He struggles forward on all fours, blood pouring from his wounds, trying to reach a claw out to grasp Anevia. With a thud, the half orc sorceror falls onto this face, dead.

Combat over

Anevia groans in pain, rolling over onto her back. "I didn't think we'd see him again..." She moans through bloodied lips.


"I had no idea the area would be this dangerous. I was certain that the army would have dispersed by now, but we have encountered multiple cultists! I had best summon my eidolon."

Sjurd begins the process of summoning his eidolon. 1 minute.

Farasha sighs with relief as she instinctively moves to the wounded Anevia. Gesturing to the others to move in close, she opens herself to the purity of Desna, letting healing energy flow through her and in to her companions.

Kazul, as usual, searches the body for trinkets and gold.

Kazul finds a potion, a wand, 42 gp, and a fine-looking ranseur.

Anevia struggles to her feet. "Th..thanks." She says to Farasha. "That was a face from the past. Vagorg, his name is...was. He was arrested by Irabeth for cult activities. He thought he could talk her out of turning him in because of his heritage." She laughs grimly. "He didn't know Irabeth. She locked him up and forgot about him. As did I."

Anevia limps over the the small bedroom. Working a wooden dresser aside, she opens a hidden cache in the wall. She brings out a leather bag, and a note. Slowly, she opens the note, her face a mask of concern. She reads it briefly, then lets out a sigh of relief.

"It would appear that we may have a safe haven," she says, handing you the note. "Irabeth has taken refuge at the Defenders Heart. A fortress-like inn that was set up for just such an occurrence. It says we need the password - 'Silverstrong', and we will be allowed to pass." She looks in the bag. "These are for me, to make the journey to Defenders Heart safer, I guess. Irabeth couldn't have foreseen my escort would this formidable! You take them...you've more than earned it."

Inside the bag are 2 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds, and 3 potions of Invisibility.

Taking one of the potions of invisibility and handing it right back to Anevia Bollwerk speaks."Give it back to me when you are save in the Defenders Heart. It is our next stop anyway. Till then, keep so that you can if we are overrun get yourself to safety!"


Finishing his summoning, Sjurd claps his hands together, and a puff of gray-blue smoke accompanies an audible pop. A large, broad figure steps out of the smoke. It is roughly humanoid-shaped, with block-like body and clubbed limbs. It is covered in short, brown fur, sports two beady black eyes, and an enormous gaping mouth taking up most of its face filled with broad, flat teeth.

"Everyone, this is Uli. He is my most trusted companion and eidolon."

"NUNC EST IN OCCURSUM ADVENTUS TUI." The creature's voice is loud, deep, and enthusiastic. It gives a small wave of its club-like arm.

Sjurd grins sheepishly and shrugs. "He only speaks Celestial."

"PROTEGAM AD OPTIMUM INGENII!" Uli places a hand over its heart and bows slightly.

"He's... he's happy to be here. If it is alright, I would like to take one of the healing potions."

Take 1 potion of cure moderate wounds.

Anevia, you carry them for us, we just want to keep you safe!

Farasha quickly recovers what arrows she can before glancing over the items Kazul recovered from the evil sorcerer.

Take 10 for a spellcraft check of 15 to identify each item


I'll let you figure the arrow bit. Potion: CLW, Wand: Magic Missile w. 24 charges, you can't ID the ranseur with that.

Now where?


Kazul takes a potion of invisibility (or two if no one is taking any other than Bollwerk, who gave his away). ;)

My plan is to have my evolution points devoted to increased size, bite natural attack, grab, and swallow whole. His SOP in combat will be to rush a spellcaster, swallow them, then use his slam attack until his 'occupant' expires. Vomit, repeat.

Picking up his shield Bollwerk asks Kazul to check if it is safe outside then urges the other to move on.

Fabian says, "I could make use of that Magic Missile wand, if nobody minds my taking it?"

He will cast Detect Magic himself and attempt to identify the ranseur.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

After concentrating on the magic weapon, the wizard says, "I'm afraid I am not able to identify this weapon. I will need to wait a day to allow the arcane noise in my head from it to subside before I think further on it. As for where we go next, I agree with Farasha. Let us find our way to this hopefully safe refuge that Anevia describes."

"Take the wand, I will keep the ranseur if by chance I will need the reach, but we should move on! If we ever get a chance to sell it, we should and try to get Kazul a magical weapon."


"Yes, we should not tarry. Let us move forward and see what other good can be done."


The black and red skies of the Worldwound roil with fury overhead as you make your way west towards Old Kenabres. Anevia leads now, still hobbling on her makeshift crutches, but moving with some determination, now that she knows she may find her wife Irabeth. Despite the odd scream in the distance, nothing assails your small band.

Rounding a a giant pile of rubble, you come upon Defender's Heart. A solid, grey stone structure, Defender's Heart is the largest inn built in Kenabres. Its thick walls and narrow windows make it the perfect place to form a resistance. There are no obvious persons about the outside of the inn, but you can feel that someone is watching your approach.

Waving his hand in a move it folks gesture Bollwerk urges the others to get closer, hoping that his armor and shield holding the holy symbol of Iomedea will keep others from shooting at them. Urging Avenia to make her presence known he hopes for some local intelligence.

Farasha displays her Desna holy symbol openly, and though holding her bow, keeps it down and unthreatening.

We need to speak the password do we not? she recalls, asking Anevia for the appropriate time to do so.


Kazul looks around to see if he can spot his watchers.

Kazul:
Dark shapes move in the windows of the second story, but that is all you can discern.

A crossbow quarrel appears out of the ground at Bollwerk's feet. A deep voice sounds out from the inn. "Stay where you are! Identify yourselves!"

Fabian hopes that Aenvia will say something, but figures he should also give it a shot. "I am Fabian Moldonado, son of the paladin Alissa Moldonado. We are loyal residents of Kenbares; when the rift opened during the attack, Terendelev saved our lives with the casting of feather fall spells. We are here with Anevia, looking for Irabeth."

Farasha Aeval, priestess of Desna calls out Farasha, adding her introduction to the others, then waiting to see what happens.


There is silence from Defenders Heart, that wears into minutes. Just as you fear something may be amiss, the heavy doors of the inn open and a large, armored half-orc woman rushes out. She grabs Anevia in her arms, lifting her up in a loving embrace.
