Sweet Lucille |
Lucille looks around her at the bodies on the ground -- one room cleared, plenty more to go. She preferred her fights outside at range, not this frantic room to room struggle. Esrastil's crusty monocle, she misses the sky.
This was like taking on the Tarfield clan after they'd taken one too many cows for her daddy to stand. Their compound had been more of a stockade than a homestead, and clearing it had been a brutal, brutal business, but after that, no one ever stole from the Kelthorne's again.
No help for it today. Lucille takes a deep breath, and runs as carefully as she can into the next room, where the fight still rages. She curls around the dazed mongrelmen, and into the corner, where she quickly stabs at her nearest foe, more to keep him off of her than because she expects to hit.
Move action: Move to M21.
Standard action: Attack mongrelman at N21 defensively with short sword.
Because she's fighting defensively, she'll have a -4 to attack but a +2 to AC
Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 4 = 9 Attack + Defensive Penalty
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Old Guy GM |
Lucille's swing is defensive, but ineffective. The ranger just grins and takes aim...
Farasha, Kazul, Bollwerk
Bollwerk |
Bollwerk attacks the lizard.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Then moving south to stand infront of the ranger to give Farasha some kind of cover.
Sweet Lucille |
Kazul moves to O21 and attacks the northernmost mongrel!
Attack: 1d20+5
Damage: 2d4+6
AC: 19
HP: 16/19
Did you include flanking? I moved up there just for you...
Farasha Aeval |
Glaring at the enemy archer and intent on making them pay, Farasha trusts in the protection of her goddess and darts through the door weaving past the mongrelman and moving behind him so she can get a clear shot.
Move to R21, through threatened area
acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 3 - 4 = 7
That isn't going to beat his CMD so she's provoked an AoO from the mongrelman, AC is 19 thanks to Fabian :)
Despite leaving herself open to the enemy, she has a better shot now, and smoothly draws and fires her bow at the enemy archer.
longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 13
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
That's another AoO for firing a ranged weapon inside a threatened square, Farasha is counting on him not having combat reflexes though!!
Her arrow thunks in to the nearby doorframe. Gritting her teeth, Farasha simply hopes she has at least been distracting.
Sweet Lucille |
Lucille's swing is defensive, but ineffective. The ranger just grins and takes aim...
Farasha, Kazul, Bollwerk
Also just noticed that you didn't take an AoO on me -- I should have called out that my movement provoked -- that was why my attack was defensive.
Sweet Lucille |
They attacked Bollwerk as he went through the door. They are done with AOOs until they go again, which is right now.
Cool. Just didn't want to take advantage...or have Farasha take one meant for me.
Old Guy GM |
Bollwerk strikes the lizard hard, and it hisses loudly as it snaps its head about in pain. Behind him, Kazul's falchion does its vicious work, striking down the mongrel between him and Lucille.
The last mongrel steps back a pace and jabs at Dieter, striking him squarely in the chest. Rolled a 23, 4 pts (or not if parried).
The mongrel ranger lets out another shrill whistle, this time starting out low and working to a high pitch. The lizard, dripping blood, rushes at Farasha. It jaws clamp down on her leg 7 points dmg Farasha, and a Fort save and seizes her in its grip. And you are grabbed. The ranger then smiles, and fires. The arrow passes just over the cleric's shoulder. So close she can feel its fletchings on her ear as it goes by. Her smile quickly fades to a frown as she steps back.
Bollwerk, you have a choice for AOO - the lizard or the ranger. Take that now, please. Fabian, Dieter, Lucille.
Farasha Aeval |
Fort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Farasha glares at both the lizard and the retreating enemy ranger, suppressing the pain and holding tight to another arrow, trying to decide whether to stab it in to the lizard's head or fire it after the escaping mongrelman archer...
hp 10/17
Sweet Lucille |
Only one mongrelman left, and Lucille lashes out again with her whip, hoping to knock him down, so that the group can focus on the giant lizard.
Free Action: 5' step to M22
Standard Action: Trip attack with whip on mangrelman at P22
Move Action: put whip away
Trip attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 = 26 CMB + Bless (Bless is still active, yes?)
Dieter Stolzdorf |
Dieter weaves through his allies to make a lunging stab at the nearest foe, but appears to skid in some dust and makes a wild swing instead.
Move to N22.
rapier 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 111d6 ⇒ 5
Fabian Moldonado |
Fabian steps through the door and past Kazul to square N21, so that his protective aura will help as many of his companions as possible.
Once there, he points his finger, and an icy ray shoots out towards the mogrelman in M23.
Firing Ray of Frost.
Ray of Frost (Ranged Touch): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 181d3 ⇒ 2
Effect in progress: those within 10 feet of Fabian get a +1 Deflection bonus to AC (two rounds remain)
Old Guy GM |
Moving along...Dieter you have 4 pts dmg on you.
Lucille's whip cracks and wraps around the mongrel's ankles, a quick yank and he goes down. As he falls, he is hit with a frosty ray, causing him to yelp with pain. Changed your ray attack because M23 is unconscious. Unless you still want to, of course.
New round again, Kazul, Bollwerk, Farasha.
Fabian Moldonado |
Thanks-- attacking the conscious guy is what Fabian would do. He won't kill unconscious people unless he thinks they're irredeemably evil-- demons and the like.
Farasha Aeval |
Farasha smiles at the lizard almost regretfully
My goddess won't let me be held in place, your teeth may as well have closed on mist...
she effortlessly slips free from its grasp, just stepping away trailing stardust in her wake like its jaws were as weak as any cultist of the Great Old Ones' grasp on sanity. She stops a few feet away, ending her glide with a spin, bringing up her bow and another nocked arrow and staring down the shaft at a point between the lizard's eyes, then letting the glittering metal point fly free at the beast
longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 17
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
hp 10/17 liberation (rounds/day) 1/2
Farasha Aeval |
Neglected to mention taking a 5 ft step in my action post as was apparently too busy writing fluff...apologies as I also missed updating the map! Farasha would have moved SE one map tile
Old Guy GM |
Kazul, if you don't make that falchion a legendary weapon, you're fired!
Kazul rolls past the mongrel, its spear jabbing the above the rogue's head in futility. One swift stroke, and the creature's life is snuffed out.
Farasha's arrow buries itself in the great lizard's thick hide, but it keeps coming. It tears a chunk away from her side, but fails to gain purchase. 5 pts dmg Fara Meanwhile, the cleric's shift has brought her within line of the ranger's bow. Farasha can only look on as the ranger sights her in, then releases. At the last second, the bite from the lizard jars her aside, and what surely would have been the fatal arrow passes through the space she had occupied and impacts harmlessly on the wall behind.
I rolled a hit and max damage, then realized I hadn't subtracted the Cover and In-Melee penalties. Makes for a good read though.
Dieter Stolzdorf |
Feeling the sting of his wound, Dieter dances forward [five-foot step to Q22] and stabs at the lizard in his backside.
rapier 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 191d6 ⇒ 6 [target R22, standard attack w/ flank]
Sweet Lucille |
Dismayed at the solid arrow strikes coming from the other room, Lucille decides that the archer that's harrying them is potentially a bigger threat than the giant lizard. She crosses to the doorway, pulling out her own bow, and lets an arrow fly at the archer.
Move action: Move to R24, drawing bow as she does so
Free action: Drop sword in R24
Standard Action: Shoot arrow at mongrelman
Bow attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 18 BAB + PBS + Bless
Bow damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 PBS
Fabian Moldonado |
Did the lizard and ranger survive those two attacks? Fabian will move and launch a Ray of Frost at the lizard if it's still up, since he can get at that without cover (although there's still firing into melee).
Farasha Aeval |
Wow just looked at Wenduag the ranger, talk about mutated wow!!
hp 5/17 AC 19
Feeling the air move with the last arrow, Farasha decides she needs to get out of the line of fire, she tries to move past the lizard to get to a better vantage point.
Move to M22
acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 4 = 8 That's likely an AoO :(
If she's still conscious...
longbow versus lizard: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 11
piercing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Wow talk about a lot of poor rolls, rubbish to hit when of course getting max damage....argh!!!! ;)
Dieter Stolzdorf |
Dieter dances across the room in nimble steps [Move action to N24] and stabs at thing in front of him.
rapier 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 191d6 ⇒ 2
Bollwerk |
Moving to Q26 and attacking the ranger.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Moving to R23 and attacking the Lizard.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Old Guy GM |
Somehow forgot to move Lucille, fixed. Dieter that thing is an unconscious mongrelman. Kazul, Dieter was in that space.
Lucille moves to find an opening and grazes the ranger with her arrow. Farasha's shot goes wide, drawing a chuckle from the mongrel. The smile is wiped away as Bollwerk steps into the room, as she is forced to duck his swing. Kazul cuts down the cave lizard with his falchion.
The mongrel ranger steps sideways, draws, and fires at Bollwerk. Her arrow hits him square in the chest, finding a gap in his armor. 5 pts Bollwerk
All enemies except the ranger down. Group B: Fabian, Lucille, Dieter has gone.
Bollwerk |
One question. Bollwerk would have gone to Q26, not Q26, trapping the ranger and forcing him either to be aoed or switch to a melee weapon, knowing the ranger would not be able to AoE him as he is using a ranged weapon.. You only moved him to Q25, although he should have had enough movement to take an extra step. If I am wrong, please tell me. If it was an accident, its ok, lets continue with the story, made enough mistakes myself in the past.
Sweet Lucille |
Lucille nods when she see's the lizard die. "Time to end this then."
She rushes into the next room holding her bow in her right hand and drawing her whip with her left. Taking up position in the corner, her whip snakes out, as she hopes to render her foe weaponless ahead of her companion's assault.
Move Action: Move to P25, drawing whip as she does
Standard Action: Disarm Ranger with whip
1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 24 CMB + disarm wpn + Bless
Bollwerk |
I would have been content with the story, as it was good.
aoe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 261d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 121d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
As the ranger moves past him Bollwerk slashes at him and his weapon draws a deep wound.
Fabian Moldonado |
Fabian's protective ward runs out.
Staying where he is, he brandishes his staff and shoots another icy ray at the creature that Dieter is fencing with.
Ray of Frost again, ranged touch, but -4 for a target in melee
Ranged Touch attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Frost damage if hits: 1d3 ⇒ 2
