That isn't good.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Also, how is it going Ake? Do you have any idea how important the concussion is or approximately how long its effects will last?
I was wonky for a few days, it was like being drunk and hung over at the same time, epic suck.
I managed to shake it about Sunday, had my follow up doctors visit Monday and was cleared for full duty, no restrictions.
Not a an experience I care to repeat.
Now I'm cleaning up the messes, issues and problems my dropping suddenly from work have caused, the poor guy running my market while I was out got put through the wringer.
Spent about two hours Tuesday and today dispelling rumors of my death and severe injury.
There was a severe wreck on the same road at the same time as me that made the paper and a lot of people thought it was me.
One of my accounts called the main office because they heard I had died.
I had heard the upper level management at my competitors were preparing a celebration at my "retirement, temporary or otherwise".

Terrance Foehammer |

Ake, I am glad that you are feeling better.
I can see how there might be mistaken identities in regards to a collision, if yours didn't and another one on the same day did make the paper.
Needless to say, catching up on paperwork is always a pain, and glad that it wasn't worse. :)

Twilightrose |

Justin told me earlier that he might need a surgery. Well, he just called me again and said that they are transferring him to St. Francis hospital for the surgery. I'm not sure what time it will be yet, he's going to call me when he's set up at St. Francis so I know the new room number.
Apparently, the area where the fluid was is an area with no real blood supply. They said that if it was an infection they would have to do a surgery to clean it out. So, I guess that means that it was infected.

Terrance Foehammer |

Mine pending distribution. :)
Twilight, Hoping that they find what caused the infection.

DM Twilight |

Well, there is that pond right there that's encroaching in on the room you're in. It doesn't specify how large a body of water. I was gonna assume it was big enough, but if you want to carry them around with you by all means. I'm sure you'll only be haunted a little bit :)

Yeah bedding down for the night may not have gone well.

Terrance Foehammer |

Ha, I was close without being able to see the map at work.
7 sets of doors need to be abused. :)

Ioann Vilescu |

Yeah, I just worked intensely today and I don't think that I will be able to post something coherent or interesting. I am foreseing the same tomorow, and monday. So, feel free to DMPC Ioann! If anything appears that he can hit, he will go into rage!
For those curious to know why I am depleted: I am preparing a lecture for a university class and its really, really draining me.

I would like for you all to take a moment to consider what you would like to see happen for your characters. Whether that is tying things in to your background, forming romantic relationships, obtaining an archenemy... whatever! I would also like for you to consider what I can do as a DM to help bring the game alive for you in a more general sense. What are we doing that's working, what are we doing that isn't working. I'd really like to see these games succeed and for you guys to get the most out of it.

Ravel Sigrún |

Ravel would love to learn more of her heritage, including meeting a hag or other dreamweaver. She would like to explore the realm of dreams (similar to Elise in Insidious). Ravel absolutely wants to find love and wants to discover her own powers.
With Carrion Crown, I think the problem we are having is the mentality of wanting to tackle Harrowstone in one go, like a usual dungeon, even though we know we have to remain in Ravengro for a month. Giving us more reasons to mingle amongst the townsfolk might help us in our pacing.

Terrance Foehammer |

I know we cannot do Harrowstone in one go. It is simply to big. :)
So yes, giving us reasons to mingle, should help the pacing. :)

DM Twilight |

It might be a little difficult to work in a hag or a dreamweaver where you guys are, it's a pretty secluded area. I'll see what I can come up with but it might not be until later in the adventure once you have left Ravengro.
I'm going to be using the blacksmith to tie in with Terrance's birthday gift, and I think that might open up some mingling. Yes, though, this dungeon is really set up to move through slowly over the course of the month. The AP didn't even want you guys going in until you were almost 2nd level but you were all in such a rush :P There are still plenty of events that can take place in town, and some events that won't take place in the prison unless certain things have already happened in town.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

Yeah we can interact with those in town, the church etc. Romantic entanglements could be interesting, Ingrid is very focused on her misssion but since this is gonna be more of a long-term case she may relax a bit. As far as archenemy, her family name alone is reviled by necromancers and intelligent undead alike so theres that.

DM Twilight |

Guys. If I have to move you on the map myself, I will put you in direct danger :P I changed to this method of map because no one wanted to give me specific coordinates, only relative positions to one another (and it was getting us nowhere). I thought it would help make things move faster if you guys positioned yourselves, but most of you are having difficulties managing this. So, what do we do?
Ake, I know it hasn't been two days since it was your turn but for the sake of moving things along, I'll update for you here in a couple of hours if you haven't done so.

lol ok moving. I think people just need to get used to it.

Bringing the game alive:
-I think you are doing fine, everytime we have interactions with PCs you do an incredible job at portraying them (so much that I wish you would run Jade Regent.... but that's only a dream I guess).
-Dungeon wise... I think you are doing fine. Seriously, running mega dungeons through PBP sounds hard. The only thing I can think of is you writing in a style that makes the creepiness of Harrowstone stand out more (e.g. "A chill slowly creeps up your neck, the room is getting cooler and there are no reasons for it, you erupt in a cold sweat" or something like that). But, to be realistic and not impede on your style, do it whatever way you like, this game has been really fun so far!
Ioann in the future:
-Finally remember that he met Ravel in the past.
-Romantice relationship: nope, Kendra might like him, but he sees her more like a sister. Ingrid??? That would be funny!
A central part of Ioann is his relationship with his sword which he hopes is possessed by some eldricth force. For if it is not, that would make him a monster.
What I would like is for Ioann to learn, one day, whether this is true or not. Of course, this would have a really strong impact on him.
-If the sword is possessed, he will cling to it to stop if from falling into anyone elses hands. In such a case, I might try to steer him back towar a good aligment. I would like LG, but that would impede his ability to enter a rage.
-If the sword is not possessed, Ioann will be be crushed. Hopefully, with the help of his companions and Kendra, he would be able to steer his killing instincts toward more constructive purposes.
-Note, if Ioann ever becomes good, I might have him get a few levels of either Oracle (and go raging prophet), paladin, or warpriest. These are the goals he had before first killing someone, so it would be cool for him to go back on that route. Of course, if anyone believes this would unbalance to group, I would not do that.
Just you asking this only further convinces me that you are the best PBP GM I have encountered!

DM Twilight |

Ha! Well as flattered as I am by that, I have to wonder how horrible your previous PBP GM's must have been. I must admit that I haven't been putting as much effort into the writing as I would have liked to see from myself. I've felt lately that the games were struggling and that sapped the creativity for me a bit. I will work harder on that, though!
I'm not familiar with Jade Regent, but hey, I can look into it ;)
Kendra liking Ioann was kinda a spur of the moment idea to rile Ioann a bit. It isn't expected for it to go anywhere, especially considering that you guys will be leaving Ravengro. If you'd decided that Ioann wanted to be with her I would have found a way to make it work for him but I had expected, if anything, for her feelings to frustrate and confuse him :D
Spoiler stuff noted. I'll give that some consideration. Either way, I don't think he should learn anything too soon.

Still thinking on how to respond to your request. :)

I am really big on role play, I like to see characters interact with each other and with NPC's. Watching the PC's form the bond that will ideally hold them together throughout the AP is a lot of fun. I would like to see more frequent posting, when I started the game I asked for a minimum of once a day but that hasn't held up to well. I know that some of you have had things crop up in life that have gotten in the way, so it's forgivable but disappointing nonetheless when it seems like there is always one or two people at any given time, who are mostly absent for extended periods of time.
I've had a couple of people send me private messages asking about how something works or if something is OK to do. Overall, I'm OK with this, I am the DM it is expected. However, I would like to see some of those questions being posted in the ooc first. It opens the door for group collaboration a bit more, and you never know when someone else might have the same question. It also gives the opportunity for players who know more than I do a chance to help out, or even just answer a question quicker than I can because they happened to see it first etc.
I'm getting the hang of DMing, I think, but there are still going to be things that I miss or forget to consider. By all means, bring them to my attention. I do not know it all, by any means. If you start to feel like the enemies are too easy, too hard, there isn't enough loot etc. etc. let me know. I rely on you guys and your feedback to help me become better at this.

I'm glad he's out. The other stuff is manageable.

Terrance Foehammer |

That he is out is good news, and as Ingrid says, the rest is just small stuff.
Also don't sweat the small stuff. :)

Ake of the Stolen Soul |

Sorry, but my job is brutal for a while.
I so happy and glad your brother is Ok and coming home!
Ake is comic relief, I am having fun playing her as such and having the chance to play this path instead of running it.
As for her direction and goals, I as her player don't have anything long term planned for her beyond snark and explosions.
Please, feel free to surprise and amuse me as inspiration strikes.
As for GMing, I think you are doing great! I am entertained, engaged and intrigued to see how you put your mark on this game.

Several of you I have contact info for, whether it be facebook, cellphone, or email. Those of you who I don't, if you would like, you're welcome to provide me/us with this info so that you can be contacted in the event of an unexplained absence (just to make sure you're still breathing and whatnot) or if the game needs you to make an action and we haven't heard from you etc.

Ioann Vilescu |

Justin is finally coming home from the hospital today. I guess he's going to have to be on oxygen for awhile though, as well as antibiotics, pain meds, and diabetes medications.
That's good news! Did they ever find out what was the cause of the infection?
As for contact, I will be PMing it, I don't like leaving my personal information on the forums.

Terrance Foehammer |

Ingrid, Ravel, Uklod, would you be so kind as to put your HP in a tag line, so that it makes my life easier trying to keep people alive. :)

Terrance Foehammer |

no worries, just reminding :)
