Naafih only had a small talent for the magic that was bestowed upon him by Nethys since his mind was more focused on the intellectual arts, so in an effort to try and save what little spells he had, instead of using his own spells he shifted his backpack to his shoulder and reached inside to find his Wand of Cure Light Wounds with the only energy he could muster together in his current state.

Blarg the Dinosaur |

Blarg obediently attacks the monster.
I'm giving him the flanking bonus, because the nearest spot where he could reach the enemy happens to be flanking.

In Naafih's weakened state he almost forgot his sole purpose in a Pathfinder party and that is to identify their enemies!
Knowledge (All): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
He coughs up a little blood as he shouts out a few helpful things about their enemies.
Forgot I can do a Knowledge roll for free. Only if it matters though, seems like Blarg might take him out. In order of importance: Special Abilities, Defenses, Attacks.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Blarg's furious claws bring the stone monster down in a flash, leaving the area around you clear for now. You see the smelly man bouncing toward you, leaping far higher in the lower gravity than he usually world.
"Ach, yer alive! I found another straggler, looks like he needs a hand. Name's Malvic. Play nice!" He gestures toward a pathfinder who is just popping through the portal!
Malvic, jump in!
Balik clears his throat. "Ye got three choices here! You can check out the Crater, the Frozen City or the Sea of Light!"
The Crater: The area is visibly swarming with defenders and encounters there are combat-oriented and much more deadly than the other routes.
The Frozen City: Is located on the asteroid’s dark side. While combat encounters are present, the challenges here are designed with exploration and diplomacy in mind.
The Sea of Light: This route combines a mix of exploration and combat, with a number of environmental hazards. PCs versed in advanced technology may be especially interested in exploring the wreck of the metal craft on this route.
Chose your route!

![]() |

"The Crater area looks like there's going to be a bit of fighting while the Frozen City looks more like we will have to interact with people. I'm only slightly versed in combat with my longbow but I do well to support my fellow Pathfinders with magic, knowledge and healing. I'm not that great at interacting with people but my knowledge is always useful in situations where we are conversing with new strangers. Any of the three paths look fine to me, I'm not strong nor weak in either of the situations." Naafih ends his rant and nods to Malvic as he comes through the portal, giving himself a few taps of his wand to get himself back to full health.
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Back to full health, he slips his wand back into his backpack, gets a good grip on his longbow, ready to pull it out at the sight of any new enemies, and ensures that he is now in the middle of the group surrounded by the melee fighting types.
Naafih is positioning himself sandwiched between two people so he doesn't get caught in the front lines again and basically just explained that any route works for him, no advanced technology feats/skills here. If I HAD to cast a vote, Sea of Light, advanced technology is fun and the mixture works best for me.

![]() |

A lithe elf tumbles through the portal but makes it look graceful, somewhat.
"I never get used to portals", Malvic sighs.
Malvic gathers his greying brown hair back into a pony tail and steps toward the group.
"Excuse my tardiness. Research deadlines get the best of me."

![]() |

Koani makes Blarg wipe off the worst of the mess on his claws and then rubs his head and calls him a 'good little dinosaur.' Then she turns to her new companions. "I would agree that combat is probably our strong point more than talk. Especially with Blarg's abilities."

![]() |

Malvic listens intently to the others before enthusiastically thinking out loud, "Seeking a path that can capitalize on multiple facets will let us avoid being overwhelmed. The Sea of Light looks like an balanced choice with ample opportunities to research."
Finishing his thought he looks around realizing he wasn't alone and let's out a small laugh, "We can excel at any route and I will defer to the group as you all have been here a bit longer.

![]() |

Koani greets Malvic, "I'm glad you are joining us. We could use someone else who is good in a fight. This is Blarg. If you don't mind, he should come sniff at you so he recognizes you as a friend."

![]() |

Balik snorts. He seems to be listening to something no one else can hear. "'Nother straggler! Looks like he's some sort o' bird or somesuch."
Kahwen! You're up!
Consensus on the route?

![]() |

"I'm standing right here!" Naafih huffs at Koani's comment about needing someone else who is good in a fight and ushers the team forward. "Alright, looks like we're going to the Crater."

![]() |

I have no fear of Friend Blarg, Friend Koani. After facing troglodytes and a minotaur together we are boon companions. The tengu offered his hand so the little dinosaur could catch what should be a familiar scent.
He bowed to Koani then nodded to the others.
To the crater then, fellows? he asked casting his gaze in that direction.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

To the CRATER!
From the edge, the crater’s bottom is a distant sight, and the vastness of stars and void looms overhead. Some incredible force tore open the ground here, leaving the stone shattered and sharp. The rocks are unusually warm to the touch and willfully twist and cut when grasped. In contrast, the gentle breeze pouring up from below is pleasant and hale.
Now you must safely get down! I will need three climb checks from each of you. The first two are Easy checks, but the third is Average difficulty. However you may voluntarily make your own descent a little harder for 1 step to make another's easier. Alternatively, a PC can use any spell that allows them to fly or descend gently (e.g. feather fall) to automatically succeed at one Climb check if the spell has a duration of 1 round/level or less. Any spell that has a duration of 1 minute/level or more allows that PC to automatically succeed at all three Climb checks. However, using such spells does not allow a PC to aid her allies’ Climb checks as noted above.
The Easy DC is 12. The Average DC is 15. The Hard DC, (if you choose to make your Average check harder in order to aid another) is 18!
The smelly man nods at you each. "Good luck, kiddos! See ya on the far side!" and disappears!

![]() |

How far down is it?
Before people start rushing to climb down Naafih stops everyone so we can try to organize a better method rather than forcing everyone to climb. "For those of us that don't climb, can you strong types lower us down attached to a rope? If I try to make this climb I will surely fall."

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

About two miles deep! That said, falling will deal less damage since you're taking it in sections and there's low gravity right now.

![]() |

Seeing that rope is not an option for such a deep dive, Naafih takes his chances and gulps as he slowly shakes his head back and forth as he attempts to make the climb down...
Climb DC 12: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (13) - 3 = 10
...and grunts as his hand slips and he immediately falls to the next ledge.
So are there sections as in I fall to the next section, take damage, and then need to make 2 more climb checks? At least I can heal myself after each fall. :(

![]() |

Even Kahwen is a bit disconcerted by the fall presented before him and he has wings. But those wings are also how he's going to get down. I will meet you at the bottom, Friends he croaks before jumping over the edge.
He extends out his arms, his big feathers fanning out and catching the air under him, slowing his fall from a mad descent to a gentle Glide down.
Fly: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Fly: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Fly: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Reaching the bottom, he lands lightly and waits for the rest of his group. He approaches Koani when she makes it to flat ground and offers her a slender, heavily decorated stick.
Friend Koani, please use this should I or any of our companions get hurt in our current mission.
He's handing her a Wand of Cure Light Wounds.

![]() |

Naafih, let Koani heal you between, since she is carrying the free partial wand we were given. She will use that up first on everyone, before we start using our real resources.
Koani smiles and nods as she takes Kahwen's wand. She uses the free wand we were given to heal each person who takes damage at each part of the descent.

![]() |

"Well, here we go." sighs Malvic.
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Not too bad..
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Almost there!
Climb: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
Letting his overconfidence get the best of him Malvic loses concentration missing a foothold and falling the rest of the way.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Koani and Blarg both make it down mostly okay, but stumbles and slips cause them to take 1d4 ⇒ 3 damage!
Naafih has a worse time! Climb: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2 and Climb: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15 He spends more time sliding than actually climbing, taking 3d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 2) = 5 damage!
Kahweh uses the lower gravity to glide safely down, while Malvic loses it at the last stretch, taking 1d4 ⇒ 2 damage!
Atlas: Climb: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 5 = 1 and Climb: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 5 = 8 and Climb: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 5 = 13 Atlas takes a page from Naafih's book, sliding somewhat haphazardly down the slope and taking 3d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3) = 6 damage!
Pai Gow also makes it 2/3 of the way down, then slips at the end, taking 1d4 ⇒ 4 damage!
You have a few minutes to heal before the next section hits!
The terrain smooths out and contains paths fit for travel at the crater’s bottom. Uneven trails converge toward a vast unnatural cavern entrance hollowed out of the basin. Signs of once-impenetrable defenses litter the area, battered and toppled as if broken down from within.
Defenders cluster here and there and two break off and move toward you: a stone man like before and a strange crystal spider! Knowledge Planes!
Koani: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Pai Gow Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Naafih: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Atlas Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Malvic Trist: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Kahwen Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Stone man: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Crystal spider: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Round 1:
Paigow, Naafih, Kahwen, Koani, Atlas
Crystal Spider
Malvic
Stone Man
We're on slide 5 of the Maps. Paigow, Naafih, Kahwen, Koani, Atlas: you are up!

![]() |

Naafih lands with a thud on the ground and thanks Nethys that there is low gravity. He rests for a second, his body aching as he finally gets enough energy to stand up and reach into his bag for his wand again. "Don't worry about me Koani, I can cover this one."
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
With one tap of his wand, Naafih is back to full health (again) as he waits for his group to pick themselves up so they can check what's down the path.
Insert break where everyone does their thing.
Seeing the defenders and the two coming towards them, Naafih identifies the stone man as the same ones from earlier and makes an attempt to identify the spider.
Knowledge Planes/All: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Naafih shares any information he knows about both creatures.
Made a roll earlier at the end of the fight to identify the stone men, should have all info about them to share, as for the spider we'll go with importance of Special Abilities, then Defenses, then Attacks. Once identified I'll take my actions. :)

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

The stone man is a small earth elemental. The spider is a crysmal, a native of the plane of earth. Do you see a theme here? Sorry, missed your first roll. You know that earth elementals have earth mastery, which increases damage if you're in contact with the ground, plus they can glide through the ground and they're not very bright. Your newest rolls identified the creatures, but didn't do well enough to know anything further.

Kahwen waits to ensure that everyone who got bumps and bruises on their way down the crater is fully healed before proceeding. He draws his sword when they set off, sure that trouble is ahead.
He is proven right soon enough as two defenders approach. Never one to wait for a fight to come to him, the Tengu rushes to attack.
He takes a swing at what he thinks is a vital spot on the stone man as he gets adjacent to him.
Kahwen is charging. I had a little problem reading/manipulating the map on my phone so I'm not TOTALLY sure he can actually get to the nearest opponent. He wants to so if I didn't get him in the right square, a nudge would be appreciated. If not, then he just gets as close as possible. Since he's flat footed, I'm rolling my sneak attack damage, but I know there is a decent chance the target is amused.
Elven Curve Blade, charge: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
Slashing, Sneak Attack: 1d10 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + (3) = 10

Pai Gow ill accept a wand charge from Koani to heal the damage from the insolent ground.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
When he sees the pair of new enemies, the teacher draws a potion and drinks it, augmenting his defenses before stepping forward. Draw and drink a potion of Mage Armor. AC is 23 for 1 hour.

![]() |

"Ugh, I don't really know much about these creatures.... that irritates me." Naafih says as he moves over to the left a little bit and knocks and arrow in his longbow, firing off a shot at the unidentifiable spider...
Longbow >30ft: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
...and watches as the arrow goes way off course.

Atlas hands his wand off to be patched up after his tumble down the cliff.
CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6
When the elementals rise to intercept the party, Atlas moves to intercept them!
Readied Spellstrike vs the first enemy to move within range: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Koani uses the wand from the Society to heal herself and Blarg.
CLW, Blarg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLw, Koani: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Koani heals Blarg a second time, then helps out her companions who need it. 6 charges remain on party wand.
When the new enemies appear, Koani first leans down to whisper to Blarg.
handle animal, succeeds on all but a 1: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Blarg chooses to roll around in the dirt at Koani's feet.
I hope it's OK that I made up something silly for him to do...
Koani shoots at the spider-like thing. does not yet appear to be in melee or covered.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Not a problem, Koani! I like the flavor!
Pai Gow armors up with a quick potion, while Kahwen charges and carves into the small stone elemental. Gravel rains from it! Naafih fires at the creatures but the low gravity causes both his and Koani's shots to go wide. Atlas readies for an attack while Blarg, overwhelmed by the new smells of the asteroid, rolls in the luxurious dirt.
The strange crysmal squats low, as its tail whips forward, sending a crystal shard shooting at Koani! Shard Spike: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) = 15 damage! Once this is done it scuttles five feet forward toward Kahwen!
Malvic is up!

![]() |

Malvic hits the ground with a solid thud after his fall.
Add climbing to the list of things I need to master. Could someone patch me up? he huffs, more irritated at himself than the situation.
A charge of that wand would be lovely.
Assessing the situation after dusting himself off Malvic readies his rapier in case of any unexpected guests.
That was for after the fall. Will update shortly for my turn.
Malvic moves to intercept the crysmal but comes short so he takes aim and fires off Acid Splash.
Acid Splash (Touch): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Malvic's acidic splash hits the crystal spider, which shudders as part of its crystal dissolves away. The earth elemental rears up, and tries to slam Kahwen! Slam: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 1 = 17 for 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9 damage! Up close to the combatants, Kahwen also notices odd runes on the earth elemental and a strange glow on the crysmal! Sense Motive and Knowledge Arcana or Planes checks!
Round 2:
Paigow, Naafih, Kahwen, Koani, Atlas
Crystal Spider
Malvic
Stone Man
Paigow, Naafih, Kahwen, Koani, Atlas are up!

"Well those look interesting..." Naafih mutters to himself as he notices the runes and the strange glow.
Sense Motive DC 18: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Knowledge (All) DC 18: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
"Friends! Those runes mean that the earth elemental is a follower of Azyrul the elemental lord of earth. The runes provide a conduit to enslave other earth creatures which means it's probably controlling the rock spider. Focus on the earth elemental!"
Naafih sees two of his teammates already down on the ground and runs over to heal the one that he knows is a healer, Koani. He quickly reaches down to place his hand on her back and pushes some healing energy into her.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Depending on if I go before Koani she might be able to heal herself after I heal her.

![]() |

Taking Naafih's warning to heart, Atlas charges forward. Hoping to end it quickly, he surges around his tengu companion and brings his fist down on the bonded elemental.
Spellstrike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
And a DC 12 fort save or be fatigued.
Blarg!

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Naafih moves to the downed Koani, who is revived! Atlas moves up to smash the earth elemental, but its odd jerky movements throw off his aim!
Koani, since Naafih moves before you, you can take your round. Also Pai Gow and Kahwen are up!

![]() |

Koani heals herself and gets up.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
back at full health, shared wand now has 4 charges.
I've been assuming Blarg is right by Koani. Is it alright if I move his token to adjoining Koani, since that is where he would be if he didn't have other instructions?
That was close. It looks like Blarg was trying to take care of me. I do like that little dino...

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

The elemental swings at Pai Gow as he moves through his threatened squares! Sorry, your Acrobatics check was a bit low! AoO: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 = 9 for 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8 damage!
Koani, that's fine.
Kahwen is up!

![]() |

Sorry guys, I was out on a trip all day.
Kahwen is pleased that Koani is back on her feet. And not just because she can heal him. He has a fondness for her and her little dinosaur since they accompanied him on his Confirmation.
The earth elemental is distracted by both Atlas and Pai Gow but the tengu cannot properly place himself to take advantage. He has been trained since he could wield a sword (which was almost from the time he could walk) to pile on, so he still attacks the humanoid lined with runes.
Elven Curve Blade: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Slashing Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 7
He then takes a step back and sideways to get behind Atlas and away from the spider thing, both to make sure he's not vulnerable to attack from either of the aggressors and so he can maneuver into another, beneficial position. 5 Foot Step
