Kahwen
|
Actually, scratch all that...I just did the math and with the penalty to his AC from charging, Kahwen was hit and goes down.
Kahwen has just a moment to be pleased by his moderate success when his opponent retaliates. The last image he has before being knocked unconscious is a stony fist coming at his tender beak. He collapses at the elemental's feet.
Stabilization Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 17
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
No problem, Kahwen!
Kahwen falls under the stony fist!
The crysmal shudders and attacks Atlas! Sting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 damage!
Malvic is up!
Malvic Trist
|
Malvic maneuvers into a better position before firing an acid splash at the elemental.
Acid Splash (Touch): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 - 4 = 6
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
He scoffs at himself in disappointment.
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Malvic's acid splash goes wide!
The stone elemental steps to the NE and swings at Atlas! SLAM: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 = 12 for 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8 damage!
Round 3:
Paigow, Naafih, Kahwen, Koani, Atlas
Crystal Spider
Malvic
Stone Man
Paigow, Naafih, Kahwen, Koani, Atlas: You're up!
| Blarg the Dinosaur |
Blarg races over and bites and claws at the monster his friend told him to attact. In his animal brain, these are very bad things, because they hurt her and also his birdie friend.
bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
talon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
talon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
talon damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
talon damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Naafih Amari
|
Naafih watches Koani run up to Kahwen to heal him with the group's wand and does a quick head count on who has received damage. After he has made sure everyone is accounted for he moves a little to his right so he can get a clear shot of the elemental man while also within the 30 yards for his point-blank shot bonus.
Longbow + PBS - Melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 - 4 = 6
Naafih, afraid of shooting one of his own teammates, doesn't quite have the focus to hit his target.
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Naafih fires, but his shot goes wide. The little dinosaur darts in and manages to slash the stone man, who seems to fall apart into gravel!
The crysmal begins to shake and shudder!
Pai Gow, Kahwen and Atlas are up!
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Pai Gow stumbles as he tries to flip around, but the crysmal does not attack despite its clear ability to do so! Likewise Pai Gow's swing misses the crysmal!
Kahwen and Atlas!
Kahwen
|
Kahwen finds himself awakened and in perfect health, staring up at his friend Koani with a wand in her hand.
He's also just in time to find his more reptilian friend, Blarg shredding the stone man with his sharp claws. To the Tengu's relief the creature who hit so hard seems to crumble.
He is less pleased by the way the remaining creature begins to shake. He really does not want to be close if it explodes somehow.
He also does not want to expose himself to attack by getting up. He decides to make it hard on his opponent.
It is difficult to maneuver from a prone position but he bucks and twists, kicking his legs around in a circle to help provide momentum and throws himself out of the way.
Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Kahwen is trying to move 5 foot without provoking an attack of opportunity while prone.
Naafih Amari
|
"Wait! It might be innocent! It was being controlled by that earth elemental." Naafih tries to reason with the party to see if the creature is still a hostile entity or merely a victim of slavery.
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Atlas falls back with Naafih's warning! The crysmal bolts, moving as fast as it can away from you! Anyone who wishes can take an attack of opportunity. Otherwise, combat is over!
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
After about 30 second, the crysmal creeps closer to you again, but its body language is submissive and it makes strange rocky noises. You may attempt a Diplomacy check to befriend it. If you speak Terran, let me know!
Koani
|
Koani looks again, and sees that the little crystal being is rather cute. She tries talking to it in druid, telling it that they understand it didn't mean to hurt them. [ooc]I know this isn't my strength, so please consider it aid another for whoever wants to take the main role.
dipl.: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Kahwen
|
Same here. Kahwen doesn't have any diplomacy abilities but we HAVE to have a pet crystal spider. Assume the below roll is an Aid Another.
Kahwen is quite pleased when the spider does not explode, or skewer him. He's less pleased when it runs away since it seems far more frightened than aggressive but he's glad no one tries to harm it as it goes.
He gets to his feet and bows to Koani. Thank you friend Koani. That was quite unpleasant but I feel completely better now.
He goes to scratch Blarg's head. And I would bow to you and your superior fighting as well but I suspect you prefer this.
It is soon after that the spider returns. Kahwen readies his sword but then realizes that it is not aggressive. He very carefully sheathes his blade and makes a show of being harmless.
He calls out to the creature in as calm and coaxing a manner as he can.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Naafih Amari
|
"Whew, I'm glad we could free the little thing. It's a shame that none of us seem to be able to communicate to it though." Among the many languages Naafih DOES know, Terran is not one of them. He also does not know how to make friends so he doesn't even bother trying to communicate with the creature. He spends a few minutes observing it and taking what information he can into his mind but other than that he just puts his longbow back on his back and gets ready to continue in the new area they are discovering.
Is Linguistics able to be used to try and decipher speech from a language I don't know?
Edit: Man, in hindsight, knowing that this year was the year of elemental stuff I should have taken the elemental languages rather than the odd assortment that I did go with, haha.
Naafih Amari
|
As Naafih studies the creature for his own curiosity, he attempts to mimic the creature's rocky emissions and try to understand what he can of it.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
You cannot determine exact words, but the creature seems to be saying that it was enslaved by some powerful earth creature. It is apologetic and wishes to help if it can.
This will lower the DC of the Diplomacy check! If you can roll and haven't I encourage you to try!
Naafih Amari
|
Naafih turns to the group to try and translate. "I think it wants to help us with whatever was enslaving it." He turns back to the rock creature and attempts to makeshift a sentence in Terran so he can ask it to help us.
Diplomacy, yuck: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (19) - 3 = 16
Gotta love my Wasting curse guys, -4 to all Charisma based checks, haha, and I'm the one that gets a 19.
Koani
|
I don't know if Koani's previous roll to aid gets applied here or not, so here's another aid roll, in case it is needed:
aid diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
ptttttht, I think the dice roller hates me...
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
The little crysmal seems to be trying to communicate something important to you. As you can sort of make out what he's say, you flag down a nearby Pathfinder, which converses with the little guy in his rocky tongue.
"Sorry agents, but this little guy has information the Captains need. I'll escort him back to base. Good job freeing him!" The agent escorts the crysmal off, but it waves one limb at you before it goes.
SUCCESS WITH A CLUE!
Moving deeper into the crater, you spot a fortified structure ahead. What was once a massive convex wall has since shattered, flinging many chunks of rock outward as other fragments collapsed inward. Even now, the wall seems to undulate and ripple as it slowly knits itself back together. A sickly heat radiates outward from the walls, and hundreds of feet deeper inside stands a staggeringly titanic set of stone doors. Some immense force inside the asteroid has warped these barriers, hurling them open.
STanding on the battlements are two human priests, bearing crossbows. They shout when they see you and raise their weapons to attack!
We're on slide 6!
Koani: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Pai Gow Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Naafih: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Atlas Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Malvic Trist: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Kahwen Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Evil Clerics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Round 1:
Naafih, Koani, Kahwen, Pai Gow
Clerics
Atlas, Malvic
Naafih, Koani, Kahwen, Pai Gow are up!
Naafih Amari
|
Naafih takes his time as he walks to study the pieces of rock fragments all over the ground as they make their way into the asteroid. He goes to make some sort of observation about the unique material but is interrupted as he hears the human priests shouting and raising their weapons. Being one of the ranged attackers of the group, he quickly moves up to take a preemptive shot within his point blank shot range.
Longbow + PBS: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Naafih just can't get used to this odd low gravity setting but at least his arrow was a little closer than his earlier attempts.
Koani
|
Koani lifts her bow and shoots at one of the threatening priests.
attk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Seeing her arrow go astray, she leans down and whispers instructions to her little dino.
HA: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Kahwen
|
Kahwen cannot say he is not disappointed when the rock spider thing goes off with another pathfinder and does not accompany their group. It seems that he has important information for more important ears, though and the needs of the Society must come before the Tengu's need to say that he adventured with a rock spider thing.
He can only assume that the large structure they soon see in the distance is their destination. It is little surprise that it is guarded.
While Kahwen can glide with the best of them, he can't actually fly so getting up those walls to cut someone would be problematic. Fortunately, he has a bow for just such eventualities. He drops his sword as carefully as he can and pulls out his shortbow, quickly knocking an arrow and letting fly.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Apparently, he is no better at shooting in this odd gravity than any of his companions. He can only hope the clerics are also hindered in the same way.
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Bolts and arrows fly, but none come close to the clerics, who shout in frustration!
Blarg darts forward, but as he races between the gates, the ground gives out beneath him! Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 However the clever dino leaps back and avoids the tumble!
The two clerics fire at the little dinosaur!
Crossbow: 1d20 ⇒ 1 for 1d8 ⇒ 5 damage!
Crossbow: 1d20 ⇒ 12 for 1d8 ⇒ 3 damage!
Atlas and Malvic are up!
Malvic Trist
|
Malvic tries to keep stride with Blarg and fires an acid splash at the closer priest.
Acid Splash (Touch): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Malvic sighs as the odd environment is keeping him off balance.

★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
Sorrina Westyr urgently projects her image to speak to every Pathfinder, and appears to be holding tightly to a steel ring near an alien device. “Everyone, brace yourselves. We have finished repairs of a strange craft on the bright side of the asteroid, and the engines will fire shortly, hopefully causing this rock to spin and even out the extreme temperatures. This may get a bit bumpy though in three…two…one... Hold on!”
A sudden jolt shakes the entire asteroid, sending anything unsecured reeling as the stars begin to spin overhead.
Table GMs, the Engines benefit is now in play. Vroooooom!
| GM Hmm |
★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
Sorrina Westyr’s projection appears once again to every Pathfinder. Behind her is a map of the Asteroid, Aucturn’s Tear, lit up with different colors around the different regions.
“Good news, everyone! Our tactical reports coming from the region known as Area F, ‘The Sea of Fire’, tell us that the entire region has been claimed and is now safe for travel! Keep going, Pathfinders!”
The Sea of Fire has been Claimed!
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Malvic's acidic splash misses, while Atlas runs to the battle!
Round 2:
Naafih, Koani, Kahwen, Pai Gow
Clerics
Atlas, Malvic
Naafih, Koani, Kahwen, Pai Gow are up!
Koani
|
Koani shoots again at the nearest priest. She's getting frustrated with the seemingly useless attacks, and she's worried about her little dino. However, she takes a deep breath and shoots.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
confirm critical: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
regular damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
crit damage: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 5) + 2 = 14
Naafih Amari
|
Naafih feels the asteroid start to turn from the thrusters and rolls his eyes as he tries to take another shot at the clerics.
Longbow + PBS: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
And by some stroke of luck or maybe a mixture of the low gravity and the spinning asteroid, his arrow probably strikes!
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
He also tries to see if he knows anything about these clerics from what he can see of them.
Knowledge? (All): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
He also moved up before he shot that way he's still in point blank range in case Koani kills the closer one.
Kahwen
|
Huzzah, Friends! We are succeeding. But it sounds as though our allies are doing better than we are. We must redouble our efforts, Kahwen says as the announcement is made that people they can't even see have claimed something called the "Sea of Fire" and that they've managed to get some kind of engines going.
He is pleased to see that his pep talk seems to have worked as Koani scores a fierce hit and Naafih also hits with his arrow.
He takes inspiration from their success and aims carefully. He certainly wants to carry his portion of the load.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Yet he, for one, has not adjusted to the strange environment.
| GM Hmm |
★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
“More tactical reports have been flowing in to our Control Center,” Sorrina Westyr proclaims as her image appears once more to all of you. She points her wand at a now glowing region of the Asteroid. “We’ve cleared another region! Area D, The Frozen City has been claimed and is now safe for travel!”
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
One of the priests takes two arrows to the chest and falls forward off the battlements to the ground below. Naafih spots his unholy symbol, which seems to be a fossilized dinosaur tooth. He recalls it belong to Ayrzul, a ruler of the Plane of Earth!
Pai Gow and Kahwen both fire, but miss!
The remaining cleric snarls and murmurs a prayer! He points at Koani and shouts "Unbeliever! Fear the wrath of Ayzrul!"
Koani, Will Save vs Fear DC 14! Success: you are shaken for 1 round. Failure: you are frightened for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds!
Atlas and Malvic are up!
Malvic Trist
|
Does the triggered pit trap have a ledge around it or is it a 10x10 pit wall to wall between the ramparts?
| Our Mysterious Benefactor |
It's a 10x10 pit wall to wall between the ramparts. You'll need to jump across or secure some other means of bypassing it.
