Sorry, dealing with work deadlines here, will try and post later today. I'll ask people to hold off on posting until I can make my next one, thanks!

Can do. :)

Tsk tsk, Knute. *points upward* (Nah, it didn't change anything, but seriously, hang on until I can post again, guys.)

As an explanation for why that is taking so long-- I managed to wrench my back a few days ago and spent some time mildly wobbly on pain meds, which in turn fugged my work for the deadlines, so now I'm even more rushed on those. :( Sorry. Please continue to bear with.

Ah, sorry. Didn't see the discussion post, just knew I hadn't posted in a while. Sorry you hurt your back, Dien! Hope you're on the mend soon! :)

No worries, Knute.

Halla, belatedly re: Mav -- you see no signs of damage on her. (she had a false life up)

Diving a long way. I will post soon.

Out of curiosity, Halla, why not continue to use the Wand at this point?

Because her spell slots will come back in the morning and the wand charges won't. :) I tend to be a consumables-hoarder.

If it looks like we're about to camp, we may as well use up Halla's spells first. Let's see what we see from the top of the mountain.

Post coming later today, but y'all can start making loose plans for level 3.

Cooooooooool. Kló's choices are all but locked in. :)

Makes sense. I'm likely being a bit paranoid. The "you get ambushed while you sleep and before you can recover resources" bit has been done to me one too many times, I guess.

Given Halla's repertoire, if we all die due to lack of a well-timed ventriloquism or tap inner beauty, that will be one straaange encounter. ;)

Post coming later today, sorry.

Go-Go-Knute's grapple check!

Last minute heads up. My wife and I are on vacation until Monday. Don't expect posts from me until Tuesday. Bot my character as necessary so as not to hold up the game.

My apologies for the last-minute notice.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Sorry for the slowness - the next post has a lot of stuff I need to put into it, and I've just failed to get the right combination of 'awake' and 'free time.' Hopefully later today.

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger 3 [HP 23/27 | AC: 17 (Tch:14 FF:13) | Fort +4 Ref +7 Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +8]

Just a heads-up, I'm leaving on vacation this afternoon until next Friday evening. I'll try to check in at night, but definitely bot me if needed.

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

Woot! Level up stuff. Can we go ahead and update our profiles? Or should we wait for a specific green light to do that?

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

UI went ahead and updated Kló. Hope that's cool. :)

You can update profiles, yeah, the changes just won't take effect until after resting.

Heh, I just remembered/realized that Knute is gone right now anyway. Although this is the day he's supposed to be back, so.... I'll give him the rest of today to see if he has anything to add in, but I'll go answer the things written so far right now.

Dien, are we doing 1/2 hit die +1 for hit points?

For DM only:
Tassidar is interested in learning detect thoughts, share language, share memory, burning hands and sow thought from the spell book."

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger 3 [HP 23/27 | AC: 17 (Tch:14 FF:13) | Fort +4 Ref +7 Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +8]

Sorry all, our flight was canceled on Friday, and we didn't end up getting back until Saturday. >.< I'm going to update Knute's profile and write a post tonight.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

No problem, I had a hectic weekend here. Will post tonight.

Plaguestone Map | Gallows of Madness Combat Map

Yeah, sorry, HP is 1/2 rounded up + your con, + favored bonus if you choose to use it for that.

Tassidar:
Okay, that would cost you 140 GP (2nd level spells are 40 each and you have 3 listed, plus 2 1st level spells at 10 each), which is more than you have listed on your sheet. You also only have time to copy three spells tonight, because it takes an hour each. So which three are you going to copy, given your 80-ish gold?

Boards were down last night when I went to post, sorry guys. Working on it now. Knute, I assume from your post that you are not partaking of the stew?

Plaguestone Map | Gallows of Madness Combat Map

Bah and humbug. Okay, first thing tomorrow (later today) when I wake this post is my priority, it's just that there's some dream sequence stuff I don't want to half-ass. Sorry for the slowness. :( But for now, sleep for GM.

HP 35/39 | AC 16 CMD 17 | Fort +7 Reflex +1 Will +5 | Perception +7 Initiative +1

I'd rather it be done slow than half-assed. :D

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger 3 [HP 23/27 | AC: 17 (Tch:14 FF:13) | Fort +4 Ref +7 Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +8]

Correct, Knute is not having the stew.

Plaguestone Map | Gallows of Madness Combat Map

Moar update happening later today, sleepy GM is sleepy.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Tassidar, still waiting for finalization of your choices with Mav, as per the spoilers above. Remember you will also get two free spells on level up that are not restricted to the things she has in her spellbook.

Everyone, check in when your level 3 sheet is ready and posted so I know to look 'em over. (Klo, I know yours is done.)

I'll finish out the watch/start the next day of in-game tomorrow-ish, though I'd like to have everyone's level 3 ready to go for my knowledge.

1d8 ⇒ 2

Wow, a 3 on a d8 last level and a 2 on this one. The dice roller is trying to kill Halla for sure.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Ouch. *pats* Next time maybe take the option to go half-and-up. ;)

"If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss..."

Well, I did kvetch about it, so I suppose Kipling wouldn't have me.

I always gamble and very rarely have anything to show for it, though I can sometimes at least alternate good rolls with bad and end up fair-to-middling. The only time I haven't taken my chances on rolling, when rolling is an option, was when I was playing a cleric of Abadar and it would have been severely out of character.

DM:
For my two level up spells:
What do you think of the 2nd level spell Create Pit? I was thinking that could be a could crowd control spell and it has no SR so it might be useful in the land we are in. I was also thinking that Mirror Image would be good for survivability, although the boards suggested flaming sphere. I was hoping you would give me your opinion.

For the spell copying I think Tassidar would focus on detect thoughts and Share memory for 80gp.

If that is okay with you I will go with that and deduct the 80gp.

Male Human (Ulfen) Ranger 3 [HP 23/27 | AC: 17 (Tch:14 FF:13) | Fort +4 Ref +7 Will +3 | Init +4 | Perc +8]

Knute is level 3, Dien, so check his sheet out when you get the chance. :)

Plaguestone Map | Gallows of Madness Combat Map

I rolled a 1 once on a d12 for a barbarian in a campaign where the GM offered us the "roll or avg" choice. I think it drained all my further desire to roll for HP. :P

Tassidar:
Create Pit is a very useful all around spell, but you'll want to be careful when you place it in combats. It is not dismissable, so once it's cast, it's there for the duration of the spell, and I've been in more than one fight where it wound up becoming just as much an impediment for the party, as a terrain feature they couldn't easily cross and were at risk of falling into, as it was a boon. It's a great spell, but it should be used judiciously and one should always go "okay, if I cast that there, what happens regarding the party's own mobility/chances to get around" etc.

Mirror Image is a good defensive spell, yes, but ultimately wizards wind up needing to choose between defense and offense with their actions. Things like mirror image and shield meant that you're spending your turns setting up defenses versus getting hit, and if you're not planning on being on the front lines, you may want to focus on offense instead. (My only caster that has mirror image is a magus, who is a front-liner character. My long-range casters tend to stay back and assume they can withdraw from someone who gets close. Defense is a valid choice, but it tends to be the 'cautious/conservative' route.

Some all-purpose useful defensive spells at level 2: resist energy, communal protection from evil (that'd be giving 2 PCs in the party a +2 bonus to AC at this level, at least vs evil creatures, and it'll scale up well as you go)

Glitterdust is probably the most useful 2nd level spell in the game, followed closely by Burst of Radiance, if either of those look interesting to you. Web is good for crowd control.

Also, you didn't ask for feat suggestions, but just in case your heart isn't set in stone on the one you chose, it might be worth it to look at Spell Focus. If you took glitterdust and create pit, which are both conjuration spells, then the DCs on each of them would rise. Spell Focus (Conjuration) also leads into a feat later that let you summon better/stronger monsters, so if you wanted to keep learning the Summons spells, you would ultimately be summoning at a stronger level if you had Spell Focus (Conjuration) first.

I took your advice Dien. Made some adjustments.

Tassidar:
Looks good. The feat is Spell Focus (Conjuration), though, but I knew what you meant. :P

Unexpectedly tiring day today, but will update after I sleep.

Sorry for the slowdown, gang! Post will be coming tonight.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

Gosh gang, I am so sorry, the last few days just sort kicked my rear end around the room. Update will come some time today, come hell or high water.

I'm still gonna hope neither hell nor high water actually come. :D

Thanks for bearing with, guys! I appreciate it. You've been very patient players.

For the record, you all can feel free to roll attacks, etc, for your mounts if you're urging your mounts into battle-- that is why I made the stats available! And Klo at least won't have anything else to do with himself this coming turn anyway. :P

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

I am doing nothing but apologizing for being slow lately, guys. ;___; I had a very fun out of town weekend where I thought I was going to be more productive than I was. I will make a concerted effort this coming week to keep us on a proper, timely pace. Thanks for the patience. Sleeping now, but post later today.

Guys I live in El Cajon, CA. I am totally in, but things are crazy. Just want to give you a heads up. I hope to get a breather tomorrow evening.
