Waiting to see if Knute and Halla are going to jump in before I post.

Knute Iversson |

Go for it! If Knute was going to do anything, it would probably be looking down at his feet and/or continuing to keep an eye out for Tokko. He isn't likely to contradict Thorgal, except in his head.

Tuckered out here, due to a long day ending in a ridiculous conclusion to Wrath of the Righteous. I gotta say, Super High Level Mythic Play is..... a thing. A wacky, wacky thing. When your fighters are killing demon lords in one round, by themselves..... good lawd.
Anyway, post coming sometime tomorrow, though probably not until evening as I've got a busy day.

So Halla brought up encumbrance, in game. As a GM, I do indeed use the encumbrance rules, but I also tend to operate an on honor system that people are tracking their own encumbrance and modifying appropriately (which Halla was!). This is because I am a lazy bastard who doesn't feel like looking up the weights and adding up every single half-pound your character is carrying-- I'd much rather trust that you're honestly tracking your own weights, just as I trust you're honestly tracking other resources, and that I don't have to spend time vetting your sheets that I would rather be spending in drawing maps or creating traps or so forth.
I'm also the sort of lazy GM who might let you fudge a pound here and there, because I understand the lure of buying lots of random items of gear that are there mostly for flavor (it is a longstanding grievance of mine that I must choose between a flask of acid and a journal with my starting gold). That said, if you really are over into the next category, please note it on your sheet, and either penalize your rolls appropriately, or change your inventory so that you're playing legally.
Consider this your prompt to check your inventories-- meaning that if I notice, down the road, any abuses on that front, I will have to be a mean GM and throw some nasty consequences at you.

Update coming sometime Saturday, GM is bushed. *yawns and toddles for early bed*

Knute Iversson |

Just a heads-up, I'm at a family reunion until Wednesday. I'll try to post in the morning or evening when I can, but definitely feel free to bot me if needed. I don't want my RL to slow us down, and I'm currently in the lead.

Eysteinn of Hofn |

Continued apologies, guys. I’m trying to keep up. I really am. :/
And sorry to add another delay, but I'll be camping with my son this weekend. Back sunday/monday.
i'll be able to post through today and maybe tomorrow, though (if we get to that point in this combat).

GM, Raging Song is not language-dependent, correct? An ally has to be able to hear the song but not to understand it?
And allies make the choice every round whether to use it? So you could accept the bonuses one round, drop them to cast a spell or make a Knowledge check the next round, and then accept them again the third round?
Sorry, but this is the first time I've actually encountered a skald in play.

GM Dien |

I'm still getting familiar with the class myself, so I'll just post what it says for the skald:
"If a raging song affects allies, when the skald begins a raging song and at the start of each ally's turn in which they can hear the raging song, the skald's allies must decide whether to accept or refuse its effects. This is not an action. Unconscious allies automatically accept the song. If accepted, the raging song's effects last for that ally's turn or until the song ends, whichever comes first."
So that supports the idea of "you can choose at the start of each turn whether you want it 'on' or not."
It also says nothing that I can see about being able to understand it, just be able to hear it. So yeah, I'd say you're right on both counts!

Working on my iPhone required a few autocorrect fixes and revisions :). I am going to Willowa Lake for a reunion in Oregon. I hope I will have phone service. I am near McCall Idaho now and have a little bit of a shoddy data connection.
If you meant the OOC about botting the Alchemist, that prompted me to get something up to give you something to work with if I can't connect. I don't want to slow the game down.
Or if you meant the Skald song choice, I was trying to work that in.

If possible, I would like to pitch an Occultist from the new Occult Adventures book. He'd be a god-respecting vikingr with a couple of physical defects that have kept him from being a 'proper' combatant. Eg. has a mildly deformed left arm (fused muscles) that makes it hard for him to hold a shield, so he uses a crossbow as primary weapon, he's got ptosis on one eye.
Instead he turned his life to the runes, and the laying of them. So he's not a spellcaster per se - but his magic would be flavored to drawing from the inherent power of the runes and their laying. From a practical sense this would limit his spell choices to the less overt displays - such as magic weapon over enlarge person, etc - and if possible would lead him to not being overtly seen to practice seidr by the general populace... after all the runes are borne of the gods, and channel their will.
His 'implements' would be a bag of runes (divination), his crossbow (transmutation) and a warding talisman (abjuration).
Does that pique enough of an interest to see it written out in long form with a full disclosure of abilities and what not?

GM Dien wrote:I'll assume Halla is remaining on delay.Yes, sorry! I've been having a busy week and barely managing to keep up with my games. Her next step would probably be trying to heal Eysteinn, but she's not going near enough the serpent to try it at this point.
No worries, I know exactly how you're feeling.
And yeah, it's tight quarters in there for anyone.

Yngvi diplomacizes at a +8, which I believe is better than any of the PCs, so it makes sense for him to champion, and others to assist.
Halla also has a +8; however, she's on the other side of the bridge, and no one's likely to suggest that the slightly-mad thrall take the lead in speaking for the party. ;P

Haha, touche, and true enough. At this point in events, anyway...

i have no idea what you are talking about ¬___¬

GM Dien |

Thanks for the well-wishing, folks. :) Regarding RPGSS, I entered last year on a whim and got lucky! So this year I have pressure, oops.
And yes, the boards were just awful, earlier. >___<
As a heads-up, my work deadlines just keep coming. I have a 26-page grant application to write in the next few days, so while I will try and post in a timely fashion, I apologize in advance if I'm a little slow.

Knute Iversson |

Hey all,
I'm going to be studying abroad in Sweden this semester (cool RL tie-in with our campaign, right?). I fully intend to keep playing, and I'll be sure to get something up tomorrow before I leave on Saturday. I just wanted to explain why I've been slow the last week (preparations) and will probably be slow the next (jetlag/settling in). I might need to be botted for a bit, depending on how long it takes me to get regular internet connectivity. I'll know more about what my schedule will be like once I'm there, on Sunday. Thanks for your patience!

GM Dien |

Yes, have a good semester, Knute! I have an online friend in Sweden I mean to go visit Someday.
*
In game, I'll post moving us forward sometime tomorrow-- I'm deadline wrasslin' right now, and the in-game information exchange happening may be worthwhile.

A sample of work stuff! Because! Because it's 4:30 and I'm punchy!
"5. Is the project’s response informed by current research on teaching and learning that involves the application of rigorous, systematic, and objective procedures to obtain knowledge relevant to educational activities and programs?"
(trust me, I'd much rather be writing a post about ork and vikingss)

On the bad side of things, I overestimated client competence and am having to produce a lot of the answers for this project that I was told the client would be providing, hence my lack of posting so far.
On the good side of things, only a few more days until the deadline, for good or ill. Thanks for bearing with me until this gets sent off, guys.
