- magic breastplate (+1 to +2)
- cloak of resistance (+1 to +2 or 3)
- belt of strength/physical might
- ring of protection
- wand of cure moderate wounds

I'm torn about whether to get possess object. The ability to animate some giant stone or metal construct is awesome... not sure how it fits the game though.

I'm playing around with the idea of upgrading the mind-chain. +12000*2(slotless)*.45 = +10800.
Expensive, but might be worth it to go from +6 to +7 int. Means an additional spell level and better DR.

Ok. I have some gold that was not used in previous level up and now we get a 13000 boost. I'd like that bow upgrade to include Bane against Undead.

What about the Headband of Inspired Wisdom increase from +2 to +4 or +6?

Magical arrows that explode into a fireball or other spell effect?

Maybe have an item that does something out of the ordinary for someone like Quinn. Any suggestions?

Possess object is like magic jar combined with animate object. You put your soul in a statue (or whatever) and then it runs around hitting people.
You can't talk or cast while doing it though.

This is all very interesting.

Here's something else: do we expect to face enough undead that I should take Halt Undead as my new 3d-level spell instead of Heroism?

Ianez took good hope, which looks to be a better buff than heroism (though heroism lasts longer) and doesn't stack with it. Even though halt undead only stops up to three targets, it's still a reasonable area control spell.

ETA: Given your teamwork feats, coordinated effort might not be a bad idea. Or arcane sight.

Good point. I also noticed you have dispel magic, so I planned not to take that one - no reason not to have all this spellcasting be complementary. Maybe I will take halt undead then, just in case we face off against more zombies, wighhts, etc.

As for the teamwork feat, I had been thinking of lookout, but maybe I will take another look.

Headband: 6000, 5700 if crafted by Caromarc.

While it is possible to craft Bracers of Armor to +6, it can’t give more than +5 AC. That would just be the total enchantment bonus; it would have to be, for instance, +5 AC, Light Fortification.

Mechanically, I'd say no, you'd sell the necklace and get a new divine focus of Erastil.

But, then again, since there is no mechanical difference to disenchanting the magic effect from the necklace for magic particles or whathaveyou, and selling it and getting an identical one? Let’s say it’s possible to remove the Mage Armor.

Can our crafters verify that the following are craftable and that the adjusted prices I have given are accurate (given that I have a high degree of confidence in the regular prices)?

Cloak of Resistance (upgrade from +1 to +3)...4000gp [regular price 8k]
Ring of Protection............................1000gp [regular price 2k]
Upgrade Str +2 belt to +2 Str / +2 Dex........3000gp [regular price 6k]

After that, I will most likely buy a wand of cure moderate wounds, but have not entirely ruled out the sword upgrade.

@LaSireen - Sorry I meant Bracers of Armor which can go up to +8.

These items appear to be wrist or arm guards, sometimes etched with symbols of protection or depictions of vigilant-looking animals.

Bracers of armor surround the wearer with an invisible but tangible field of force, granting him an armor bonus of +1 to +8, just as though he were wearing armor. Both bracers must be worn for the magic to be effective.

Alternatively, bracers of armor can be enchanted with armor special abilities. See Table: Armor Special Qualities for a list of abilities. Special abilities usually count as additional bonuses for determining the market value of an item, but do not improve AC. Bracers of armor cannot have a modified bonus (armor bonus plus armor special ability bonus equivalents) higher than +8. Bracers of armor must have at least a +1 armor bonus to grant an armor special ability. Bracers of armor cannot have any armor special abilities that add a flat gp amount to their cost. Bracers of armor and ordinary armor do not stack. If a creature receives a larger armor bonus from another source, the bracers of armor cease functioning and do not grant their armor bonus or their armor special abilities. If the bracers of armor grant a larger armor bonus, the other source of armor ceases functioning.

I am the troublesome child, aren't I.
Okay - I held off boosting MM this time... not sure if that was wise.
I'm interested in getting an Eldritch Tome - specifically Grandfather's Legacy. Not sure how much I need the spells, but it seems like a great Lovecraftian tome. If it can be a collection of a few books that happen to have spells, so much the better.
The book is 7635.
I can't work out if you have to scribe the spells from the preconstructed spellbooks or not... you can definitely prepare from it, but possibly have to have scribed the spells first. By my calculations it would cost 3540 to scribe all the spells Caromarc could cast. I'm prepared to pay that much *not* to have to scribe them :) To scribe them all (6th and 7ths) is about the cost of the spellbook again, which I don't have.
Assuming I do need to pay for scribing that should leave about 1825 left.

Is it okay to get the book? Should I pay for scribing?

You can purchase the tome, & I don't think you have to pay an additional fee for scribing spells out of it (that half-cost fee seems like it applies if you were copying spell-by-spell out of another wizard's spellbook, and that wizard was charging you?) At any rate, I rule you can have the book at purchase price, but perhaps a little reduced considering you can't cast 6th and 7th level spells...it mentions we would just remove those levels from the spellbook?

I'm thinking of going for offense with the last part of my purchase. That leaves Gaston Blackacre's upgrades as follows:

  • Ring of Protection +1 -- 1000gp assuming LS or C can craft it
  • Upgrade Str +2 belt to +2 Str / +2 Dex Belt of physical might -- 3000gp assuming LS or C can craft it
  • Add keen property to bastard sword -- 5000gp assuming Caromarc can craft it.

    While the implication is that Caromarc talked to a dark future version of himself, it's also possible the books are Nym's, and that the passphrase also changes the handwriting (to make it easier for the inheritor of the legacy to use it). I can think of a number of ways Nym could have gotten the books to Jornel.
