So kind of a running joke/Easter egg like the Vankaskerkins in the first several Pathfinder APs? I know nothing about Greyhawk so have no idea of the relative geography of Cauldron and Sasserine.* Is Red Hand of Doom set in Greyhawk?
Gotta say, NPC backstory/personality support in Shackled City is less than skeletal compared to Paizo's modern standard. I have no idea what Greyhawk's Shensen is like, apart from Chaotic Good and a follower of that travel deity who sounds like the old Volkswagen commercials and can't be spelled. She's pre-reincarnation and still a drow in that version, however, not a super-sexy celebrity with scores of devoted admirers.
*EDIT: Ha! Wikipedia tells me Sasserine is just north of the city of Cauldron, so certainly within the Sandpoint/Magnimar/Riddleport area the Vankaskerkins roam. And Red Hand of Doom is apparently set nowhere in particular so it can be wedged into any campaign setting. The More You Know, la plus c'est la meme chose.

I originally wrote a longer post for Lorenz, responding to Douena's suggestion of using the stairs. When I previewed it, I saw that Tar'kanas had responded, so I edited the post to take that into account. Then when I previewed it again, Douena had already responded and so I had to edit again, removing most of what was originally in it, since he was initially questioning how you'd get Untari up to the stairs. :)

Between Urza's last post and Douena's link, you folks got me rollin' over here. Oh man that's just funny stuff. :)
With what you wrote in that link, Douena, I KNEW where that was going. Well, it's what immediately popped into my mind anyway. I'm a HUGE fan of Avatar.

LoreKeeper |

Man, I've survived a hectic last week. I'm back again.
Regarding Untari's jump: the DC 36 jump is only if she wants to land straight up ontop with no other issues. She technically only needs to make the leap to the point where she can claw onto the ledge and scrabble up the rest; instead of a 9ft clean vertical jump she only needs maybe a 5ft or 6ft reaching jump.

LoreKeeper |

Also, Urza could consider going to the next level with his 3rd person mannerism: 3rd person with explicit contextual additives

We need to have a bit of better coordination here, it's no good if we use a full action on somebody just to get to an enemy - and then block opportunities for somebody that is in "striking distance".
If you want to explain that to Untari in character, I'd love to see the conversation. ;)

Maybe it would go something like this? :)
Seriously though, I think this is a case of Tar'kanas/Javell not realizing that Untari could get to the serpentfolk so quickly. I was surprised, myself, until I counted out the squares for her movement. I did consider giving Tar'kanas the option of holding her back a bit, but unfortunately, Untari was out of Tar'kanas's sight for most of the movement, so he really wouldn't have had the opportunity. Overall, I think it's less a matter of a lack of coordination than it is general battle chaos getting in the way.

[dice=Urza Spellcraft on wand 1]1d20 + 8 -- This is the wand of flaming sphere, but he also learns the command word and that it has 15 charges remaining.
[dice=Urza Spellcraft on wand 2]1d20 + 8 -- fail
[dice=Urza Spellcraft on dagger]1d20 + 8 -- +1 dagger
[dice=Urza Spellcraft on ring]1d20 + 8 -- ring of protection +1
The wand should go to Urza, clearly. Fire magic!
One of the front-liners should take the ring if they can use it. Probably Makoa, as I think Mahjik has the better AC. Normally, by this level, I'd assume everyone already has a deflection bonus, but we're magic-light.
Dagger? Got me. It's a magic weapon so it can get past DR, but it's a pretty pathetic one.

Javell DeLeon |

Agree with Joana about the ring.
The dagger is pretty much useless. I'd say Douena should take it because I can't see anybody else using it in combat besides one of the NPC's. Otherwise, whatever. Don't really care what's done with it.
And "magic light" is pretty funny. I think that's truly a kind way to put it. :)
When one NPC has a magic weapon and the rest of us have zero, I'd say it's more like "magic free"(which is good for all you folks allergic to magic). :)
Especially when this lizard dude is sporting a 23 AC while the rest of us are pretty much sitting in the teens. Mahjik probably has the best one being a monk. I'm sitting on a 17. Which is pretty pathetic at 6th level. I think I started at a 16. Possibly 15 so I've went up at the most 2. I take that back, Untari has the best AC at 23.
We're in a world of hurt, folks. This game will be over sooner than later at this rate. And that's simply due to what Paizo "expects" pc's to "look" like at certain levels. It's the nature of the Paizo beast. But that's simply my opinion and nothing more. Keep the change, I'd just lose it anyway.

Navior |

If you'd like GM advice, I'd say Makoa should certainly get the ring as Joana suggests. He's the front-line fighter with the lowest AC at the moment.
The dagger is medium sized, so too big for Douena (unless she wants the penalties, which I doubt). It could pretty much go to anyone else and be a back-up weapon until you have a chance to sell it and get something better (which, admittedly, could be a while).
If you'd like more advice, you might want to search the room the wizard started in. You just might find a few more things... (hint, hint)

Not sure when the last time I pointed this out, but Urza is carrying around 10 potions of cure light wounds from a time in the game when they fell from the sky like rain. Anyone want some, let me know.
Urza will take the wand since Douena can't use it.
My claws are magical, but only for (level) rounds per day, so I could potentially make use of the dagger. Plus I can get my AC up to 20 with spells so could (and have) tank, if needed. So, if noone else wants it, Urza will take the magic dagger too.

Joana |

Healing is one thing we haven't felt a pinch on so far*, between channeling, Jask as a back-up, and the 2 wands of clw. Not that it's not a good idea for the front-liners to carry potions if we're ever in a situation where Douena can't get to them.
Does Makoa have a way to make his attacks magical? If not, we might want to let him carry the dagger for now. If he doesn't want it, though, it's fine with me if Urza carries it.
Huh, I just realized that we picked up the charau-ka leader's Small +1 mace in the last encounter before the hiatus. Has the darkness worn off that thing yet? Douena can use that and do more damage than with her starknife.

You know, that never even occurred to me. Here I'm thinking that a dagger is "small" so a small person can wield. Of course, it never crossed my mind that it's small for a medium sized person.
Never even hit me.

Joana |

Actually, iirc, in 3.0, a Medium one-handed weapon could be wielded by a Small character as a two-handed weapon, and a light weapon as a one-handed weapon, I believe. They did away with the equivalency in 3.5, which made equipping Small characters a lot more difficult: You had to find a weapon actually made for a Small character instead of letting the ends of the categories bleed into others.

You need to slow down here Navior - you're increasing our party net worth by a staggering 1500% - that level of wealth increase can go to peoples' heads! ;)
Meta reasoning: given Navior's suggestions on how to divide the loot and mentioning that it was tailored; I'm wagering the headband is a headband of +2 Wisdom or Charisma suitable for a cleric and should go to Douena

Heh, yeah, as I was doing up the list, I kept thinking, "Maybe that's a bit too much," and changing something, then changing it back as I thought, "But they're so far behind." And on it went. :)

No comment on the accuracy of this. ;)

Nahhhh. Tar'kanas is only... let's see(checking herolabs)... 14,000g under wbl. I mean, seriously, can you really do anything with that anyway? ;)
If we gain a level then he'll be 21,000g under wbl. Now THAT'S when you start running into trouble. You can actually by an item or two that might make a difference. Might. ;)

Just to let you all know, ever since I downloaded Windows 10 I've had nothing but grief. It works, it doesn't, it works again, and now I can't do anything on my computer. I freaking HATE Windows 10.
Anyway, until I can get this resolved my posting is gonna take a hit. Can't really say how often or how little I'll be able to post but hopefully it won't be too much of an issue.
Gonna wipe the hard drive and see if that helps. Oh what fun.

Javell DeLeon |

Well, I was wrong. Completely wrong. A temporary fix it was I guess. I'm afraid it's some type of drive issue preventing my pc from going to windows. And I got no idea how to fix it or if it's even fixable.
My posting is gonna take a hit for a while. Will post when able but I got no idea when this issue is gonna be resolved. So if you're wondering why I haven't posted in a day or two, that would be why. I hope that's not the case but I just don't know.
Sorry.

Lorekeeper,
My review of Monk Unfettered is finally up here and on my blog. My apologies for the long wait.
