| Achren the Sculptor |
Hahahaha. Wow. Glad we started with all 3. :) Those fire walls and elementals sound nasty.
Achren nods. "I believe they can. Can we just skirt around the pit and hope it doesn't notice us?"
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
I am not sure how it senses in the first place. Perhaps it can feel the vibrations of our passing? Can someone identify it?
| Arkanost |
"Hah, works for me. I can pelt it from up here"
| Achren the Sculptor |
Achren laughs. "Not that I'd mind watching you pound that jelly into... uh, jelly, but we could also just teleport to the other side of the room and not disturb it?"
| Arkanost |
But we are murder hobos! Find, kill, loot!
Arkanost sighs, then nods.
"That would be prudent, wouldn't it. I can get four of us across."
| Achren the Sculptor |
Haha. If it turns out the hidden Staff of the Magi was under this jelly I owe you guys some GP. ;)
"I can shift myself across."
He'll use Dimension Door to move to the other end of the room.
| Arkanost |
I have several castings. I could even ferry people me + 3 each time if needed for 3 castings. If Achren and one more go, we are set with one cast from me. Otherwise everyone save their things and I'll use 3 spells to get me + 3, TP back, and bring the remainder.
| Arkanost |
Looks good. With Anatoli and I, we can get everyone across. Go ahead and save your shift Achren. Now we are set to continue
| DireMerc |
You open the door to the west.
A row of everburning torches along the west wall of this large chamber illuminates an strange scene. Two immense stone pillars stretch from floor to ceiling near the center of the room, each wrapped tightly with a taut chain connected to the wrists of a hulking giant in dented half-plate armor. The fire-haired brute hangs limply, almost on his knees, his eyes to the floor. The fire giant seems frozen solid covered in a layers of frost.
The loud noise seems to be coming from another room directly to your left when you come in with an open doorway. Were a man, human it seems is in a room were it's raining swords. The swords vanish a few seconds after hitting the ground only to reappaear above to fall again. The man calmy sits in the room apparently not bothered by the swords raining down on him as his wounds seems to regenerate almost instantly. "Well look at that! Visitors! Oh it's been ages. Isn't that nice Gruenar? We gots visitors" he laughs..."Don't suposes your here to free us? Doubtfull as I don't beleive there is any mortal alive that would remember us by now."
The giant gives no reaction.
Anatoli Ghrymm
|
Anatoli looks at the two of them and says you were put here long ago for a war against men. A vampire warlord and a fire giant blacksmith. Your names I do not recall, but you were imprisoned for those crimes
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
Impressed by Anatoli's knowledge, Gossan asks You know their story? Can you share it? Should I remember something about this?
Devyhn Rhyker
|
"And why should we free you?" Devyhn asks. "Clearly you were seen as sufficiently dangerous to contain for an eternity, or close to it. What benefit would we gain by unleashing you both upon the world now?"
| DireMerc |
"Oh yes they wouldn't kill me you see...Because of my blade. I am bound to it and it to me. So long as it exists I cannot die and the king who led the army that defeated wanted it for himself. So he had me imprissoned here rather than destroy it. Of course anyone wielding my blade is likely to be consumed by blood-lust. How fares the royal family of Galt by the way?"
He says in a mocking tone laughing maniacly between sentences.
"How about a deal then? Our freedom for ten years of our service. Back in my day I was considered the best swordsman in the world. The lord of blades they called me. Gruenar there was himself considered the best smith at the time. He could make you some fancy toys the likes you've never seen. He cant answer but he'd agree. Owes me a life debt you see. Swore he'd serve me for the rest of my days. Didn't know I was Immortal at the time but he sticks to his vows."
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
Hmm... Gossan assess the swordsman. He has always possessed a good sense of character and truth.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
And if we chose to free you, how might we do so?
| DireMerc |
Gossan feels that he is not entirely sane. Centuries of being locked in a room with swords raining down on him definitly took a toll on his mind. Yet the way he speaks you do not senses any deceipt from him. He is unpredictable but most likely honest.
"That I do not know. There are glowing symbols in the room problably has something to do with those."
Looking around you do notice several glowing runes etched in the walls.
Anatoli Ghrymm
|
we cannot seriously consider freeing such things into the world. What is ten years to eternity? Being hunted every night after ten years or watching then once more raise an army against men? I cannot allow such. I recall some of the story from my mentor and have said what I know. Anatoli says.
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
I concur. Our need is not so great as to justify freeing the likes of these. I pray it never is.
| DireMerc |
"That's a shame really, well at least entertain me before you go"
He raises his hand and a powerfull gust of wind raises up trying to suck you all into the room with him. Everyone must make a dc 25 str check or get moved ten feet into the room.
Vampire init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Anyone pulled into the room takes 4d8 damage from the falling swords unless they make a dc 20 reflex save.
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
DC 25 Strength is tough, even for my character who is both strong and can strength surge. How wide is the doorway? Is there a map for this fight? And it looks like you linked your entire module in the Lord of Blades link above...
Strenght Check: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 4 = 18
Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Gossan is pulled into the room despite his strength surge, and under the falling swords, but manages to dodge them thanks to his evasion ability.
That just affirmed our decision not to free you. the sacred fist says. Now comes some payback.
| Arkanost |
init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
damage: 4d8 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 8) = 21
HP: 49/70
On his turn, he would cast dimension door to get back out of the room and as far as he can while still being close enough to aid his allies.
He would specifically try to grab Anatoli & others that do not generally favor melee
| DireMerc |
My bad I right clicked his image in the ap and hit save and it saved the whole ap lol. I realize 25 is high but that is what is listed in the AP I believe it's meant to be a more or less unavoidable power as he can only use it once a day and all you need to do afterwards is get away from him and he cant follow.
If you beat his Init you can act and either leave the room or attack.
| Achren the Sculptor |
Str check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Ref save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Achren is sucked into the room along with the others but dodges around the falling blades. He looks around for anyone who looks like they need help, then flies back out of the room. "Don't entertain him. He wants to fight someone. Just leave him to his eternal boredom."
Like Arkanost, Achren will leave the room and try to help anybody who needs help get out too.
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
Not complaining about the DC 25, but its the combo of the mostly impossible DC AND the the 4d8 swords environment that makes this hard. Its like trying to fight in a room where every round there is a 9th level channel to harm that does not hurt the enemy. Nothing can survive that long. lol.
Tempted to fight, Gossan delays to make sure others get out of the room. He calls out to Devyhn Get out now. Don't just burn him. He will act after Devyhn and before the enemy.
I gotta know if Devyhn uses his move action to leave and how hurt the enemy is from his damage before I act. Even if we bring the vamp to zero hp he will likely just mist out and reform later. I have something better in mind.
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
Ok. I think that's everyone but Gossan. If this is not the case Gossan will do something else.
As the last of the party exits the room of falling swords Gossan follows and with a chilling smile at the vampire he uses his gauntlet to cast Wall of Stone to close off the door with as thick of wall as he can manage. There. he says as the spell is cast. He shall tempt no others. He will then take a little time to shape the created stone to better blend in with the wall, hopefully hiding the fact that the doorway ever existed.
| DireMerc |
He actually does take damage from the swords it's just his damage reduction applies to them and his fast healing heals him faster than they can kill him.
You quickly leave the room and Gossan seals it to the sound of a resounding "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" from the so called lord of blades.
Gruenar the fire giant blacksmith remains frozen and silent. What do you do next?
Gossan, Warpriest of Irori
|
Well, the vampire is sealed in. The Giant there seems less a threat. Do we deal with him?
