The Murder Mystery Tour is a simple diceless game of lies, manipulation and paranoia. Players vote every –in game- hour to eliminate other players until either The Aristocrats or The Assassins win the game. You may change your vote as many times as you like until the final call for the hour is announced and the cycle starts over. No player shall begin play knowing each other’s role except for those who specifically say they do.
This game has no official setting and any world-building done by the characters is encouraged and accepted. That means that if you say something it is considered fact until proven otherwise.
This game was started by Ryuko and has gained quite the following of loyal players. Since he is not able to continue running this game the torch has been passed to me to continue its greatness. It is on-the-edge-of-your-seat fun and new players are highly encouraged to sign up and play.
By submitting a character you are not just applying for a spot to play. Acceptance is guaranteed for all who apply.
If you are curious at any point about how the game is played please check out the following links:

Story:
Eichorn Von Ryuko had decided that he bored of his modest oil fields in the south. Three weeks ago he had declared that he would carve up the land and distribute it, freely, to anyone that attended a masquerade ball in his Island Manor out in the middle of the Atlantic. The only conditions were that applicants had to be of good breeding, had to arrive via his airship, and—most importantly–were not allowed to remove their half-face mask at any time during the two-week voyage or one-day party. Arriving at the Island Manor via Airship you immediately realize that the invitees you have arrived with were not the only ones. Multiple airships from near and far have delivered passengers to the mystery location. Each one seems to have undergone some sort of strange calamity throughout their voyage. Word has it that a few Airships have altogether disappeared, not arriving to dock. Upon dropping all passengers and cargo, the large aircraft all take to the skies and leave the island.
Shortly after, everyone is escorted to the Manor’s Ballroom. Once everyone has entered, Eichorn Von Ryuko himself greets everybody from his personal balcony on the second floor.
“Hello everybody and thank you for attending. As I am aware many of you have come across great difficulties arriving here. Truth be told, several independent parties have caught wind of my generous offer and have taken it upon themselves to send Assassins to claim shares on their behalf. Since the invitation was extended to everybody who arrived, I cannot decline my offer to them.”
While all attention is focused on Von Ryuko, it is interrupted by the only door to the Ballroom slamming closed followed by the sound of a key turning a lock.
“I cannot in good conscience let my prize to you fall to the hands of an independent party. Until all the Assassins are purged from among you we will not be going anywhere. That’s not to say we can’t have a good time however. Food and drinks will be served throughout the event. Let’s all have some fun while we sort this fiasco out. Just remember, if you remove your mask, you will be ineligible to claim your land.”
With that, Von Ryuko takes a step back and has a seat. From that point on he remains silent and observes the party from his balcony.
Knowing that you are infiltrated with assassins, the fingers begin pointing. Each of you feels another should be killed for some reason. Each Hour, every character will make a public vote on who should be killed and exposed, as well as make impassioned pleas for themselves. Every Hour the Assassins will also vote for which player will be killed by Assassins. This will continue until the assassins outnumber the Aristocrats or the Assassins have been purged.
-----
Roles:
Your goal as an Aristocrat is to find and eliminate all the Assassins in order to claim your Land.
Aristocrats are broken into the following roles.
The Aristocrat (No Special Role): Unless you are PM’d a special role at the beginning of the game you are a regular Aristocrat. Each Hour (in game) you may vote to Lynch 1 player from the game. At the end of the hour the player with the most votes against them will be eliminated. In the event of a tie, nobody is eliminated that round.
Please make your vote obvious and not disguise it in your post.
Example – Player Votes For: Player
The Masons: The masons begin play knowing each other’s identities. They have checked each other for Tattoo’s and know their companions to be innocent.
There will be no Masons if the game has less than 10 people. If the game has more than 10 people there will be 2 Masons. If the game has 15 or more there will be 3 Masons. If the game has 20 or more there will be 4 Masons.
The Detective: Every Hour, the Detective may investigate one Aristocrat, determining his role with 75% accuracy. Investigators may investigate the same target over multiple Hours.
Should the game have more than 10 players but less than 20 players, there will be 2 Investigators. Should the game have more than 20 players, there will be 3 Investigators.
The Baner: The Baner may protect one Aristocrat from the Assassins every Hour. That Aristocrat will not be killed and the Assassins will gain no kill for the Hour. Only the Baner and the Assassins will know this happened. The Baner may also investigate a player, though their methods are inefficient and they require 2 Hours to gain a 75% accuracy check.
If there are more than 15 players, there will be 2 baners.
-----
Of course, if you’re not one of the Aristocrats, you’re an Assassin, and your objective is to kill as many nobles as possible. Each and every one of them has a price on their heads, and if you actually manage to wipe out the whole room, it’ll be like getting a year’s worth of paydays all at once. Each Assassin works for a different party and does not know the identity of the others. The Assassins may vote every Hour (by PM’ing me) to kill a certain other player. The player with the most votes is assassinated that round. Should the Assassins vote to kill each other they instead learn the fact that the other is an Assassin. Assassins together are more dangerous than alone.
There is 1 Assassin per 5 players. Assassins win if the number of Assassins equals or exceeds the number of Aristocrats and all Assassins are aware of one another.
Assassins are broken into the following roles:
The Head Assassin: As The Head Assassin you get your kill first. This means that your vote counts twice. If the other Assassins tie on their kill votes you are the tiebreaker.
There will only be 1 Head assassin in play if the game begins with 3 or more Assassins.
The Stalker:Every hour, the Stalker can pick a certain player to keep a close eye on. If someone attempts to Investigate or Protect the Observed player, they are killed. This supersedes the standard Assassination of the Hour, so if the Assassins vote to kill Player A and then Stalk Player B, Player A survives the night and Player B is eliminated instead.
However, if the player that should be killed by the Stalker is currently being Protected, the trap fails. For example: Player A, the Baner, protects Player B, the Investigator. Player B attempts to Investigate Player C, who has been Stalked. The Stalk fails, Player B is given their investigation results normally, and whoever the Werewolves voted to kill is eliminated as per usual.
There is no Stalker unless there are 3 or more Werewolves.
-----
Special Roles:
The Devil: The devil is a regular Aristocrat who has a deep dark secret. Some part of this player wants the Assassins to eliminate all the Aristocrats and take their shares. The Devil has the same abilities as the Detective but is on the Assassins team. Thus Every Hour, the Devil may investigate one Aristocrat, determining their role with 75% accuracy. The Devil may investigate the same target over multiple Hours.
The Devil is not allowed to vote each hour to eliminate an Aristocrat since they are technically an Aristocrat themselves. The Devil wins only if the Assassins win.
There will only be 1 Devil in play. This is in addition to the number of Assassins that the game begins with.
The Lovers: Aboard the Airship on your journey here you fell madly in love. The kind of love that you know is eternal and unbroken. You have made a pact to each other that you will be together in both life and in death. This role is granted –in addition- to each player’s current role as a secondary role. It consists of 1 randomly selected Aristocrat and 1 randomly selected Assassin regardless of primary role. Each of the Lover’s roles will be revealed to one another. However, if 1 of the Lovers is eliminated, either from Lynching or Assassination, the other commits suicide and is eliminated along with their partner.
If either of The Lovers is investigated their primary role has the standard 75% chance of being revealed. The Role of “The Lovers” however, is immune to all forms of investigation and cannot be revealed if investigated.
The Lovers have special conditions that must be met in order to win the game. If the standard win condition is met and the 1 remaining Lover on the losing team is alive, the win condition defaults to the winning team and The Lovers win. The other condition is that The Lovers must be the last 2 survivors in the game, essentially playing as their own team.

When creating a character, consider including the following details:
Name:
Airship you arrived on:
One or two lines about appearance:
One or two lines about personality:
Any other relevant information:
If anybody has any questions ask and I’ll reply at my soonest convenience.

Taraz the Wastrel |

Name: Taraz Rorenson
Airship you arrived on: Wayfarer Mark S2. Grand and opulent, this class of Wayfarer pretty much defines the ultimate in money wasting travel vehicles tricked out with enough options and accessories the adjusted cost could bankrupt a small country. It's 100% completely ridiculous and absolutely unnecessary.
One or two lines about appearance: Extremely fine clothes, but somewhat slovenly arranged almost as if he doesn't care enough to make the effort. Brown hair, brown eyes, and a sleazy smile. Wearing a mask across his eyes feels like he's come home.
One or two lines about personality: Drunken, foolish, and voted Most Likely to Die at a Party by his rich prep schoolmates, Taraz is just as loutish as one could expect. Oblivious and apparently socially inept, no one can understand why his cheesy lines seem to work. Strangely though, a party just doesn't seem to be a party unless one can count on at least one partygoer to pass out in the coat room. All eyes turn to Taraz for yet another spectacular display of boorish behavior.
Any other relevant information: Taraz is the youngest member of a wealthy family that got rich after they invented Serv-Bots and the helmets which helmetcats wear. No ambition, no talents, and no skills other than those which are defined by gambling, drinking, and chasing skirts; Taraz has disappointed his father Roren to the point tht Roren has tired of trying to involve his son in any aspect of the family business. When Roren heard of Von Ryuko's proclamation, he knew that for once Taraz could be of use. Rumor has it, Roren may have hired one or two of the Assassins who have been said to have infiltrated Von Ryuko's party...

Taraz the Wastrel |

"Drinks, dancing, and deadly dinner show? Von Ryuko, baby. You're know how to roll. Wooo! Let's get this party started."
Turning to the attractive mature woman looking at a bookcase and tutting about their apparent disorderliness (though they look like they are sorted just fine to Taraz, and wow! what a dust jacket on that spine!), Taraz offers his best smarmy smile and says, Care for a turn around the Ballroom, Sugar Books. Got to get these people rowdy somehow. And you look like you're long 'overdue' for a little fun."
Taraz spreads his hands. "I promise these bad boys will mind their manners. I can tell you're a woman who doesn't like things to get 'out of order', and me and Dewey go way back." Taraz winks at the comely Alessandra.

It has been brought to my attention that there may be a typo in The Devil's description.
The Devil is not allowed to vote each hour to eliminate an Aristocrat since they are technically an Aristocrat themselves. This means that they are not allowed to vote each round to assassinate somebody (the same way the assassins do) even though they are technically on the assassins team. They are still allowed to vote for the lynching every hour as normal.

Another thing just came to mind.
Because we often have so few female characters the role of The Lovers will likely not end up as a boy/girl combo. We will either need more female characters to balance this out or everybody will need to keep an open mind on the subject.
I'm also open to suggestions to fix this. I don't want to offend anybody.

Taraz the Wastrel |

I am fine with the Lovers being whatever pair. Alternatively, you could make it more vague. Maybe it's not just love, but could be related to a pledge/vow, strong family ties, or mutual blackmail. Since the Lovers are trying to remain hidden, it's not like anyone will have to RP a romantic/sexual relationship that would make them uncomfortable. All the 'Lovers' designation will mean is the two players are partners and on opposite teams.

Kimefe |

Thoen signing in.
Although I don't really care how the combination of the lovers lands, it is true that we have a shortage of female characters so I will switch mine up a bit.
Name: Kimefe. Any questioning about her last name is met with absolute evasiveness.
Airship you arrived on: The Wyvern. Although a relatively small vessel ('Relatively' being the operative word), the entire ship is covered with fine art--paintings and sculptures gathered from every corner of the world and all eras of history.
Appearance: Kimefe is clearly something of an athlete, her body lithe and
her muscles well toned. Likewise her apparel--while fashionable--is devoid of any excessive jewelery that might make it difficult to run or fight.
Personality: Kimefe is a no-nonsense sort of person. She was sent here by her father to get land and she has no other purpose here. Although she tries to hide it, it is obvious in her bearing and her appearance that she is trained in combat and knows how to take care of herself.

Rashida Massri |

Name: Rashida Massri, of the Divine Massri Clan
Airship you arrived on: The Ament: gilded to resemble the sun, it causes an incredibly obnoxious glare for pilots of other airships. The Ament makes quite the impression when it descends and discharges passengers - as intended.
One or two lines about appearance: A tall, dark, slender woman, Rashida is draped in crisp pleated linen, golden snakes adorning her bare arms, her dark hair bound with gold. Her domino also looks to be fashioned of the same substance.
One or two lines about personality: As is the rest of her clan, Rashida is certain she is a descendant of ancient gods, or aliens - perhaps one and the same. They have been disappointed as ventures into space have found no species matching their expected ancestry, but that has not stopped them from attempting to seize as much of the world as possible to recreate their ancient homeland. It is their hope that when their god-ancestors return, they will be pleased at the Clan's progress and bestow divine powers and rulership and lots and lots of wealth upon them.
I prefer to play a woman since I am one IRL!

DSXMachina |

Still not sure whether to reprieve James 'Flashman' Fairfax or go for this one...
Name: Cassie DuSollier
Airship you arrived on: Cercueil Volant: A ricketty vessel it seems only o hang together with string and sprockets. Whilst 'flying' on it Cassie, seems to have a wench glued to her hand and a smudge of oil on her face. Her French accent becomes thicker as she swears up a storm as the Airship continually falls apart on her.
One or two lines about appearance: Dair hair and Parisian features, she comports herself with a self-confidence that boarders on arrogance. She knows how competant she is, and seems to expect all others to be the same.
One or two lines about personality: Bold and adventurous, she has come back from a trip across the Alps after breaking into a Swiss bank to liberate gold from the undeserving capitalists. She has a strong streak of Anarchist in her, but a good heart spending her money on charities or to fund her crazy exploits.
Any other relevant information: Adele Blanc-Sec crossed with Steam-punk.

Wowbagger tIP |

Wowbagger arrives on Taraz's space yacht modified with the new improbability drive. Unfortunately the probability of all the august persons gathering together is so low, the improbability drive is severely damaged and Wowbagger is stranded.
The improbability drive has also forced another low probability event. After witnessing the act of sacrifice of the helmet cat, Wowbagger has realized his act of insulting every human in the galaxy was an incredibly self indulgent act and nothing to be proud of. The death of his best friend Jiminy has left him brooding and introspective.
"Getting the most people to realize service to others is truly our most important individual goal and saving the most amount of people is now our most important group goal."
How is that for a twist, the evangelical Wowbagger.

Taraz the Wastrel |

This is what I read...
Wowbagger arrives...modified...Unfortunately the probability...is so low...Wowbagger is stranded...insulting every human in the galaxy...and...Getting the most people to realize service to...our most important individual...the evangelical Wowbagger.
Lol, just kidding, man. I look forward to the new and recently enlightened Wowbagger.

Nice :)

Meowselsworth |

Name: Duchess Kittington von Meowselsworth II
Airship you arrived on: The Phantom is a large ship in good repair that the Duchess inherited from her former owner who, in her will, adopted her as a daughter.
One or two lines about appearance: A small female tabby cat with a bulky looking helmet on her head and jewellery upon her ears and paws. The helmet features many wires and lights that spark and go off for who knows what reason. It seems to be painted to be more visually appealing, and has a mask pinned to it to cover the cat's eyes as per the dress code. She is the spitting image of her late mother.
One or two lines about personality: A generally friendly feline, while more aloof than her late mother, still not above accepting pets.
Any other relevant information: Meowselsworth II is a helmet cat who belonged to a Duchess and operatic singer. The Duchess had put in her will that Meowselsworth II was to inherit her fortune and posthumously to be adopted as her daughter, and her three kittens as her grandchildren. In order to increase his share of the fortune, the butler attempted to off Meowselsworth II and her kittens, but the plan backfired as the family of helmet cats outsmarted him in an adventure complete with musical numbers and then, upon the Duchess discovering what he had done, he was written out of the will completely. The Duchess perished around the same time as Meowselsworth II's biological mother (a simple extermination expert upon some silly space station, Meowselsworth II didn't pay attention to her mother's career), and the new Duchess has just come to this party from her mother's funeral to try and lighten her mood and increase her wealth.

Ingilstadt |

Name: Ingilstadt
Airship you arrived on: The Vorpal Vapor Rider was a real top of the line airship complete with shiny chrome trim, when it was new 87 years ago. Now it’s a dilapidated hunk of junk with rust stains and perforations. It’s so hideous it gives jalopies a bad name. The only thing more amazing than it actually reaching the Island Manor was it’s ability to leave again, a trail of choking smog tracing a line through the sky.
One or two lines about appearance: Ingilstadt is tall and stately, moving with careful grace and perfect posture. The cracked yellow mask covers the whole face and matches the long frayed robes that reach to the floor and gently swish with each step.
One or two lines about personality: Ingilstadt has slow and deliberate social mannerisms. Questions are carefully considered before a reply is issued, insults rarely trigger a response, and flattery has little effect. Yet the nature is not cold nor aloof, concern shown for others in genuine, laughter rings true, and the consideration for people’s feelings is obvious.

Vorian Ritter |

Name: Vorian Ritter
Airship you arrived on: Virago, a warship of impressive size that gained fame and notoriety in the wars of old. Vorian has since used his wealth to acquire the retired vessel for his private collection, refurbishing it for use as a durable cruise liner. Practically a relic itself, it serves its role as a museum quite well.
One or two lines about appearance: Vorian is a hardy man that has retained his youthful appearance despite his advancing age. He always wears exotic clothing and jewelery as a means of boasting his collection, among his favorites being a fur coat crafted from what he claims to be a werewolf pelt.
One or two lines about personality: Vorian takes great pride in his private collection, having spent years assembling it. Though even as a braggart, his mannerisms are quite gentlemanly.

Eldon Gorski |

Name: General Eldon Gorski
Airship you arrived on: Earthfallen Grace
One or two lines about appearance: Eldon wears a miltary uniform, cleand and pressed, boots shined to perfection. He possesses a full beard and long hair, a sharp contrast to his soldier demeanor
One or two lines about personality: Antagonistic and harsh, he gives orders and expects them to be followed. Also supremly arrogant and believes himself to always be right (even when proven wrong).

Baron Gigus Von Zombi |

Hi guys! First post! Yay!
Name: Baron Gigus Von Zombi
Airship you arrived on: The Tattered Flame, a black-painted, decrepit dirigible that sputters and smokes as it motors along.
Appearance: The Baron is massive, and would be imposing if his greyed-out zombie digits did not have the reprehensible tendency to come unattached at unpredictable intervals. His clothing was possibly quite fine two centuries ago. His mask is the color of live flesh and bears false, humourous blue eyes.
Personality: Von Zombi speaks with a deep, rolling voice, and wavers between an air of insufferable superiority and odd diffidence. Every time his dead chest produces a gurgle instead of speech, he cringes. He is quick to boast of the lands he owned when alive and his eagerness to re-establish an estate after the ball.

Bors "Fireshadow" Zadaa |

Name: Bors "Fireshadow" Zadaa
Airship you arrived on: The Experiment, An interesting ship looking shiny and new. However, even as it runs smoothly every so often it shudders, drops a feet, and coughs out a large cloud of black smoke.
Appearance: Tall and thin, with olive skin and various trinkets and interesting bits and bobs hanging out of many different pockets. He is wearing a vest over a dress shirt with old fashioned trousers and a pocket watch. His mask having many gadgets that seem to enhance his vision, though no one is for sure.
Personality: He is naturally curious and is constantly asking questions. Some may say he has severe ADHD, but he prefers to think of his "condition" as being a great multitasker. As he constantly fiddles with something or another he is deep in thought.

Andrezi Denikov |

Ryuko here!
Name: Andrezi Denikov
Airship you arrived on: The Legion of the Valiant, a good and noble Cossack vessel.
One or two lines about appearance: A roguishly handsome Cossack with sparkling black eyes set deep in his face and artfully tousled hair hanging over his mask of the Slavic Death God Veles in His terrible glory.
One or two lines about personality: Andrezi is a young man with a young man's confidence and zeal. He believes the world owes him simply for being, and tends to be very arrogant but cheerful. He regularly peppers his speech with gratuitous french, having never learned Russian (why would I speak to the common folk?)
Any other relevant information: Andrezi has little belief in the necessity of teamwork or worry over being killed during this party. He plans to enjoy his time here to the best of his ability, and hopes to bring a little dish back to his room at least once (he's a notorious womanizer after all).
