If Al wants the armor from Tenebrynn, I can loan Tristain the 3kgp. I've got a supply of cash currently as well (though I will need it back).
Yes, please, that is if Tenebrynn doesn't do the loan first.
But yes, selling ioun stone, getting headband on smartly bonking +4.

Albert Hazred |

Al is set on armor from that mithral breastplate, and had enough to get boots of striding and springing so now he'll only bruise a knee when jumping into basements. Thank you for the offer!

Tenebrynn |

Alright, I'll spot Tristain the 3k he needs. Starflit, just give a shout if you need some cash too! <insert makeitrain gif here>

I'll try to update her today. Was planning on it yesterday, but excess exercise in the morning and a pre-season football game at night (with extended napping in between) made yesterday a washout for me.

Huh--Saturday Evening Post. I had to Google that to see if it was still a thing.

Starflit |

Well, now Starflit's got more room for turkey and all the fixings!
Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow for those who celebrate it!

Hey all,
I wanted to let you know that Tenebrynn's player has decided to hang up his PBP boots and call it a day. I'll probably figure out a way to write her out when this dungeon finishes up, though ... I'm not sure how yet. :)
My feeling is I'm inclined to carry on with the four players, though will listen if folks really want a fifth (I think there's a BIG difference in lethality between four and five players, and I've always preferred five for PBP). Part of that is that while I enjoy playing with all of you, I obviously post a LOT less than when I started this game. Between my work schedule changing; a lot more of my free time being devoted to writing games; and my general preference for 2nd edition, I'm struggling with my PBPs in general.
I'm debating whether I want to give up my Ironfang Invasion game (Tenebrynn's player was also in that game). Though I intend to keep running this game, I'm not sure I'm going to pick up my pace soon from twice weekly to back to my original goal of 5-10 posts a week (though if I drop Ironfang, I'll be down to just this game in a few months when my other game reaches its end, and I think that would help). I know if I were a player, I'd be frustrated with me as a GM.
So that's where we stand, and I'm open for your thoughts.

Kyffin Rhees |

Hey, thanks for putting that out there. It’s appreciated.
I’d like to see a fifth player and not because I don’t want to die, to be clear I don’t, but rather because it might energize us all a bit. Fresh blood at the table might help. I’ll send you a suggestion or two if you’re interested.

Starflit |

I agree with Kyffin about the need for a fifth player. I'm still uncertain about Starflit's abilities (e.g.--nearly forgot she has discern lies for the Mun interrogation), so having a 5th PC may literally be a life-saver if I blank on an important power again.
That said, I'm open to all options. If you wanted to mash together the players from your two current games--even if it meant getting rid of Starflit--I could live with that. If you wanted to end them both and maybe start up one or two 2E Pathfinder games instead, I could go for that (I've been meaning to learn 2E for 2.5 years now).
Ultimately, though, my preference is to continue the game with a 5th player, even at a slower pace.

+1 Starflit & Kyffin’s comments. Would also prefer fifth yahoo and want to continue with the game.
Also, while I don’t love the pacing right now, I do love playing with you Motte and so want to keep going.
Would be bummed to lose this game.

Yeah, I don't plan to quit this game. At this point, I'm leaning toward letting the other one go. If so, I'd probably give those players (who also all seem to be good players) first dibs on being a fifth, since it sounds like there's interest in that. If no one's interested, I'd certainly be open to suggestions of folks (please direct them to me, and I'll reach out).
Any specific role people would want a fifth to play?

Man these gameplay threads are fickle. What an annoyance.
Anyway... hello, all! Appreciate you having me in on this one. I am familiar with Profession Smith 6 ranks as a fellow player(although the game didn't last very long) and I've seen Painlord's name around these boards for many years.
But the others are fairly new to me. A pleasure to meet you. :)

Javell DeLeon |

Starflit can make out a separate aura on the trap from the general magical aura causing the fog and confusion -- and that it's a trap! It's likely a glyph of warding for anyone who tries to open the chest.
HA! I got that one. I understood that reference. :)

Javell DeLeon |

Question: It says on "Studied target" I can have 3 at a time. So does that mean I can use a swift action to gain 3 Studied targets at one time? Or would I need to use 3 swift actions over 3 rounds to get up to 3 Studied targets?
I just want to be clear on this because I'm not really sure exactly how it works.

motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16 |

I believe each one would be a separate swift or move action. Or if you deal sneak attack damage to a target, you can study that target as an immediate action.
So you could potentially get all three in one round by using a swift, move and immediate (which would mean no swift action in the next round).

Kyffin Rhees |

Yeah, Tristain casts it at the beginning of our adventuring day. Unfortunately you joined us after that time, so the old players character has it and she's upstairs chillin'.
You might try joining us in one way or another though. This looks to be a tough fight. :)

Starflit |

Wait a sec.... Can Starflit cast cure moderate wounds using her 3rd- or 4th-level spell slots? Yes? I know casters who prepare their spells can prep lower level spells in higher slots...has my brain been misfiring for years about this?

“ Spell Slots
The character class tables show how many spells of each level each can cast per day. These openings for daily spells are called spell slots. A spellcaster always has the option to fill a higher-level spell slot with a lower-level spell. A spellcaster who lacks a high enough ability score to cast spells that would otherwise be her due still gets the slots but must fill them with spells of lower levels.”

Starflit |

Thanks, Tristain--that's about all I found on the subject in a quick check of the CRB and an even quicker Google search.

Javell DeLeon |

IIRC, you cannot, but I may be confusing my 1e and 2e knowledges at this point.
Man you ain't kidding. I managed to catch on to a PF2 game and it does become somewhat challenging to separate them. You get to thinking one way and then you realize you've got to switch your thinking because you've got the wrong game in mind! Ugh.

Javell DeLeon |

Also visible is a horrific ... what can only be described as a thing. Half-formed eyes, toothless mouths, gaping throats, and countless other malformed organs constantly form and dissolve over this monster’s surface. Albert and Staflit are the first to react as it starts to babble nonsense from its mouths.
You know, all I'm seeing now is John Carpenter's The Thing.

Starflit |

I can see that. I, on the other hand, immediately thought of an old Ren & Stimpy Clip (especially if the monster uses all its tentacles to start tapping things to distract us).

FYI, I've got a new direct report starting Monday, so will be spending the week onboarding him. Compound that with another employee being off, so my covering his shift at the end of the day, and I don't know how much I'll be posting this coming week. Then Friday and Saturday is Passover, so don't expect I'll be posting then and maybe not Sunday morning. I hope to be be back to regular posting April 18.
Obviously you can DMDM me, if you want. ;)

And we've got you covered on botting you, bud.
DMDM Javell: "Way to go, Al! You saved. I don't care if you rolled a 1! That's not important, okay?! I'm the DMDM and I say you saved so be quiet! And nice crit there with that one single unarmed attack, Starflit. That 87 points of LETHAL damage - that JUST SO happens to bypass ALL of his DR(what are the odds, right?) - you managed is pretty unbelievable. But I'm going to trust you COMPLETELY. Good job, all! You killed the beast and when it died, it exploded into a massive healing... um... explosion! Yes, that's it. A massive healing explosion. Everybody's healed! And you're all next level! My gosh there is no stopping this crew! Man I'm proud of you guys."
"And by the way Lothan gets any and all the treasure found. I'm sorry, folks! I don't make the rules! I'm just calling it like it is, m-kay? I know you're angry and all that and I totally would be too at mott. After all, it is totally his fault." *shrugs* I'm just the DMDM." ;)

"Dirt On It" is just flavor text for Al using Lay On Hands, it's from the saying "Rub some dirt on it", like a grumpy old football coach yelling at you to rub some dirt on your bruised shin and get back in the game.

Hey, I love it. That's clever. Cool. That's good flavor.

Javell DeLeon |

Okay, Lothan wants that Hand of Glory. He'll trade in his Amulet of NA +2(8000 g) for it. Or one of you can have it, doesn't matter. I've always wanted to use a Hand of Glory so I can have 3 rings but never have. Seems like a good a place as any to give it a shot. Definitely the right guy for it. Can't see too many of my other pc's using it. :P
He'll probably then use both of the rings that we found if that's cool.
Unless one of you wants one of the rings. Or both. Doesn't matter to me. Then he'll just wait for another ring(or two if that's the case).
Let me know if this is cool with y'all.

Javell DeLeon |

That Hand I was actually here for so that's why I mentioned that one.
Unless someone else wants it? It's all good to me. The rest of the treasure I don't care. There's just so much of it. Wow.
If no one wants the Hand then I'd just like to keep until I can manage 2 more rings - whether they be the ones we just found or ones later. It's all good to me regardless.
But if someone else wants it then snag it, doesn't really matter to me. I just thought it'd be cool because I've never seen one used. Probably due to needing Armor necklaces I would guess.
No biggie either way. Just throwing it out there. I'd just like to snag it if it's ultimately just gonna be sold.

Okay, change of plans. I had NO idea what you all possessed item wise. I just never looked. Simply because it just didn't matter to me.
But then I decided to look. And the main I reason I did look was because of this:
Lol. Just sweeping in and claiming all the loot huh?
I guess I'm fine with it as a player. I'll adjust the loot sheet later.
I got to thinking about that today and thought to myself: "You know, I bet you ten to one one of those melee guys could use that ring. Will have to check their gear when I get home."
Sure enough. One of you melee cats NEED to take that RoP +3. Seriously. I didn't know you all were sporting +1's. There is NO way a ranged guy needs a +3 ring when none of the melee guys have one. That's just pointless and senseless.
PLEASE please tell me next time. I typically don't look at other pc's gear mainly because, like I said, it doesn't matter to me what they have. The ONLY reason I planned on snagging it was simply due to the fact that none of y'all wanted his stuff, so, I figured you all had equivalent or better items. (And THAT'S what I get for figuring). :P
But you don't. Man I am glad I checked. One of you melee types HAVE to take that ring. Please.
Let me be clear about something about myself. When it comes to "stuff" none of it really matters to me. Do I think some of it's cool and cool to use and useful? Of course! But it's not the be-all end-all for me.
I'm always up for what works best for the team. ALWAYS. Even then, if it comes to me, I've NO issues with hand me downs. Not in the least.
I just wanted y'all to know that.
Aside: Per the Hand of Glory, as long as someone wants to use it then it's all good to me. I just don't want it to be sold. At least not yet. Maybe at some point but right now if NOBODY wants it then Lothan will gladly snag it. :)

Kyffin Rhees |

Hahaha! Well, Kyffin lets it go (for now) for reasons of his own (he's crazy), but I appreciate your concern.
We are poorer then it even appears, thanks to a number of group items we've picked up. I've never had a character this poor. We've each 'lost' more than 10,000gp in group items (healing, a 25kgp staircase to dreamland, etc). If you're worried about putting us all in the poor house, you might offer to buy a wand of lesser restoration for the group out of your next share, but it's not necessary - normally stuff like that is a group purchase.
In most cases, folks grab what they want when it drops, but in many cases folks don't grab things until I threaten to do a divvy (sell the goods for cash) and then people come out of the woodwork to claim items (or give back stuff they took temporarily).
When there's a large difference between shares, I usually try to bring up the poorest of us (currently Al, 55kgp behind you) by giving a greater share to them during a divvy. Currently the 'new' players are much wealthier then the 'old' players, but that's just the way the ball bounces...
