Sekathral, you don't see anything else of note. Nothing seems to be moving in the area except for your companions.

"You should be fine, but try to stay in the back for a bit. Don't get bit by any more big monsters...that's Silvio's job. In the meantime, take it easy," Kyson completes as he rises to his feet and airwalks over to the south doors where Sekathral is.

"You going to open them doors? I'll just wait over here while you do that. In case...you know...in case things come out. That way I can protect you...yeah, that's it."

After giving Sekathral some encouragement he backs up and waits for the doors to open.

First of all, go Red Sox!!!

It takes all his effort and help from Silvio and others, but Zstelian's finally able to get the doors open.

The ones to the east lead into a 10-foot-wide hallway that cuts east, with a couple passages visible branching off to the south. Deep niches are set into the walls, each (that you can see) seeming to hold fragments of human skeletons caked in mold and fungus. Rusted metal collars and iron necklaces rest in each niche as well, and a few still retain fragments of crumbling burial shrounds. On spaces where no niches have been carved, intricate murals of a skeletal humanoid or hound, each wreathed in a long, coiling snake, decorate the walls.

The other doors lead to a 30-by-50-foot chamber, one corner of which has completely crumbled away to reveal a stagnant pool of water, its surface calm, dark and mysterious.

"Urol, what are all these things?" Kyson asks, looking around.

The 10-foot-wide hallway seems to wend its way through the darkness, paths branching off and coming back together, the funerary niches -- Kyson thinks it's some sort catacombs, but doesn't know much beyond that -- continuing along the lengths of the passages, each one holding what seems to be a desiccated and preserved human body in tattered burial shrouds that hang from their bony frames like dusty cobwebs.

He indicates the colonists, then looks up at Kyson.

He's just doing that so he can see down the Captain's blouse. Mucky little so-and-so

Opening the doors, you discover another chamber, which seems to connect to the room where you found the dark water.

Also, two gigantic iron doors stand closed to the south, decorated with symbols of water and sealife in tarnished copper. Opposite them are a pair of pedestals, each with a peculiar notch cut into the side. One of the pedestals is made from a dusky red granite, while the other is crafted of light blue marble.

Other than Kyson, nothing seems to pop up in the room. Eventually turning to the doors, you discover they seem to be locked close somehow, but there's no keyhole or other obvious locking mechanism on them.

"Ah, that's right. I had a look in Aethwil's Guide to the Living Dead afterwards, and it turns out that over *there*, the huecevas hide in the water and ambush people whereas over this side of the ocean, they hang on the ceiling and drop onto 'em. They're especially fond of flying clerics."

Seka's fiery liquid splashes over the black mass seconds before Zstelian's blades flash through the thing, seemingly doing no damage but leaving four piles of goo -- one of them covered in flame -- moving toward you instead of a single larger mass.

"This is not right," Silvio exclaims, backing up slightly as he maintains his guard stance. Sorry, figured I'd change/delay your action, since I wasn't sure if you'd still want to attack in the wake of Zstelian's results. If you still want to swing at it, you can.

Kyson and Khazmia seem to have more luck, their fiery blasts hitting the slow-moving blobs and incinerating one of them into nothing more than a dark smear on the stone floor.

The blobs advance inexorable toward you, pseudopods lashing out again. Silvio's barely able to duck them, but Sekathral's not as lucky as the creature slams into him, wrapping around him with a burning sensation. 10 hp + 6 hp acid damage; grappled

Sekathral's blade catches the ooze, but merely splits it in two again, even as the alchemist's fire burns out and it continues to cling to him.

As Silvio and Zstelain wait for an opportunity to act, Kyson's ball of fire catches the ooze clinging to his elf companion before Khazmia blasts it -- and then the second small one -- into nothingness.

The two remaining oozes lurch foward, pseudopods lashing out at Sekathral. The elf's able to duck under the first, but the second hits, again grabbing the elf and burning his wounds with acid. 11 hp damage+5 acid damage; grappled
