Kyson, the items you took from the lab are two small jars of maylss root paste, a vial of sassone leaf residue, a dose of id moss and a striped toadstool.

You can eventually find someone to take the odd creature you found for an impressive prive of 1,000 gp. The man seems quite thrilled with the purchase: "I didn't think these even existed anymore," he exclaims of the tentacular beast.

In the chests were 120 gp, 448 sp, 683 cp, three garnets worth 20 gp each, an emerald brooch worth 50 gp and 5 pearls worth 100 gp apiece.

Two of the paintings are worth 500 gp each, but the third's worth 1,000 gp, all three of them by the recently disappeared celebrity Brissa Santos.

In the future, I'd ask that we not wait for people on vacation or otherwise away for longer periods of time.

Stalling the whole group for four or five days each time someone has real-life business to attend to seems silly.

My stipulation for Silvio taking the ring of swimming was that it wasn't worth selling. I just looked up the price for that item and at 2500 gp i'd say its definitly worth selling. So everyone should add 208 (1250/6) gp to their wealth.

Which brings Silvio's wealth to 2896 gp. 500 will go into induling in Liamae.

With his remaining wealth Silvio will:

* Contact the greatest smith in Elender and commission that a replica of his family sword, crafted with the finest steel and with great care. The hilt shall have two blue jewels worked into it and then be painted black, to symbolize Liamae's eyes and raven hair. He will call it the Lady Liamae, "in honor of the most beautiful sorceress in all of the Inner Sea" (sorry Khaz)

- Masterwork Aldori Dueling Sword (320 gp)

* Commission the same smith to craft him a fine chain shirt. Once the shirt is done he will order it to be enchanted for "the enchanting eyes of the Lady Liamae is the greatest protection"

* Spend 250 gp on Kora's funeral

leaving him with 576 gp.

Is that doable?

He will also gift his family sword to Lavinia as a symbol that he is forever at her service.

Khaz will look for a wand of burning hands, though instead opt for one of shocking grasp if she can find it. And she'd happily pay more to find it at CL 2 vs the usual CL 1

If she can't be beautiful, she'll settle for power.

Let me know what if any preparations you want to make in the next week. Also, how ticky-tack do you want to get in terms of the trip? The mod gives rules for keeping track of food and whatnot, but it's not critical. If you don't think it'd be fun, we don't need to bother with it. (I almost wish I weren't playing in Skull and Shackles, or I might grab part of the Path and try to modify some of it for our purposes; oh well.)

Oh, and before you depart, everyone can get another level.

FWIW, it's obviously Thanksgiving in the states this week. I don't expect to post Thursday (though working second shift, I do stay up later than everyone else so sometimes get a chance once the rest of the family's gone to bed), but I think I can keep going up to then and should be able to resume normal posting Friday.

I read your posts, but sometimes miss stuff. I'm human, reading from my phone at work, and sometimes have distractions. Such is gaming life.

I made his final preparations with his last buying spree, but will level him tonight.

Not super interested in tracking food (not sure it matters when Kyson can cast Create Food & Drink), but will happily do whatever.

One question, Motte, not sure how this is handled: Kyson's scribing. Can he either buy scribing inks on the island, can he craft them himself (what profession/craft is that?), should he pre-buy inks (but he doesn't have much cash left), or just hand-waive the details of the inks and just pay the costs associated with scroll creation?

I think most people do a sweet potato dish topped with marshamallows. Maybe carrots get mixed in there as well, but I'm not aware of it. Though I do a carrot flan every once in a while. Hmm, haven't done that in a while; may be time to pull it out soon.

Kyson: Re: inks, I always assumed that was included in the cost of scribing the spell. If you're out in the wilderness, though, I'm not quite sure how you'd be able to buy components to craft/scribe. Not sure what the rules are, but I kind of feel like saying you could spend XX gold on materials to create scrolls now -- and then allocate them however you want later on -- though I feel like that also nerfs the feat a bit. I'm willing to bow to whatever you all want -- is this trying to insert too much "realism" into the mechanics? (Once you get to the colony -- IF you get to the colony -- there will probably be places to get ink and other materials as needed based on what Lavinia knows.)

Even though Zstelian would excel at long term survival, I'd rather streamline that aspect of the game.

PBP is already pretty cumbersome at times and I feel like that level of detail will either turn into needless waiting on people to post their rolls for various aspects of survival or more busy work for you.

Mott, Zstelian picked up Arcane Strike this level. Since he has nothing else to spend swift actions on really, is it alright if I just always assume it's on? I'd rather not have to remember to type it out every round.

What kind of action is it to activate the fetching ball? Your description says it's a command word which is typically a standard.

If it's a standard, I'm a bit confused on how to use it.

Can I apply it ahead of time so that the item it's attached to is always a returning item or is it intended to just help make cleanup quicker?

Am I supposed to use a standard action mid-combat to get the Returning benefit?

My thought was using the standard mid-combat.

If you wanted to be clever (i.e. one way I thought to sort of break it) if you know you're going into combat, you could scatter a handful of coins, activate it, then go into combat. It would remain active, returning the coins to you, until combat starts at which point you could get it to start returning the weapons.
