Leonard, shocking grasp is 7d6...

shocking grasp: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 4, 6, 5, 6) = 26

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

The Aurumvorax, after being injured by Leonard’s electrified scimitar,44 dmg done retaliates by biting him.

bite: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
bite confirm: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24
dmg: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
confirm dmg: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Leonard tries to parry the bite, but the Aurumovax is too fast for him. and latches onto him while clawing him with its claws. Leonard feels a sharp pain as two of its claws rake his abdomen and passes out in its grip. The party can see Leonard's entrails visible through the claw wounds.

parry: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
grab: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42

claw: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
claw confirm: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
dmg: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
confirm claw dmg: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
grab: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29

claw: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28
dmg: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
grab: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44

45 points of damage taken, together with the previous 9 dmg means total 54 dmg taken, so Leonard is at -4.

Vincent takes the opportunity to stab the vicious little critter through the heart but it still remains barely standing as if it is on its last legs. 130 dmg done

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Howard - acid splash doesn't gain damage bonus from bardic performance. Attack bonus, sure.

here

For example, a bard's inspire courage says it affects "weapon damage rolls," which is worded that way so don't try to add the bonus to a spell like fireball. However, rays are treated as weapons, whether they're from spells, a monster ability, a class ability, or some other source, so the inspire courage bonus applies to ray attack rolls and ray damage rolls.

The same rule applies to weapon-like spells such as flame blade, mage's sword, and spiritual weapon--effects that affect weapons work on these spells.

Acid splash effect is a missile of acid, not a ray, nor a weapon.

Also, earlier damage calculation was 127 dmg not 130, I maths failed.... 68(Vincent's base crit) + 6(inspire) + 9 (Mutagen) +18 (Leonard slashing)+ 26 (Leonard shocking grasp) so we'll add 4 more, Total 131.

Leonard stabilize: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15

Seamus's arrows go wide of the mark, but Howard manages to strike it with a missile of acid. The creature staggers forward, dropping Leonard and biting Vincent.

bite: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
dmg: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
grab: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (1) + 24 = 25

It does not manage to grab Vincent, though it manages to nip him, and falls over dead.

Ferocity with 18 con...

Even after the Aurumvorax has been slain, the party sees no Zoogs.

If the Aurumvorax is slit open:

A gush of foul smelling digestive juices spurt out. There is no trace of any pard tails, nor zoog bodies.

Person doing the slitting please make a reflex save DC 15 or take 1d6 acid damage

I figure if you can digest metal...bones and fur and meat are easy peasy business

Seamus stops his song, Ignoring the dead Aurumvorax, he walk over to one of the holes "Didn't the Zoog say they use the tails as pillows? This is so gross, I'm glad I learned how to get my cloths clean" He then reaches in, feeling around the hole for one of the tails.

I was wondering if you'd get the hints from all about zoogs being eaten, their treeholes damaged as if something forced its way in and all that, but I guess I need to whack you with a billboard with it.

The party wakes themselves up on the Sellen Starling in a tangled heap and hears the Vooniths trying to cheer Monty up.

Day 8

Leonard and Vincent continue their research on The Codex of Three Prescriptions, The Manual of Silence, and The Unified Manual of Understanding. The Vooniths manage him to persuade him to take a little breakfast, a vast change from his usual behaviour where Monty would have wolved down everything, without any encouragement from anyone.

According to a folio regarding extraplanar undead, the ghouls of the Dreamlands are far more social – though no less wicked – than their bestial kin in the waking world. They have rich histories and large communities led by royalty.

As Leonard and Vincent are studying, the party hears Captain Skywind yell out, "We've got Giant Flies at 12 o clock! All men to arms, get out your crossbows and prepare to repel the giant flies!"

Shesha, Siriss, Monty and Verdigris do not understand what Captain Skywind is yelling and decide to stay in the cabin.

@Vincent: So basically, what the GM is saying, is that you only ever get one bite at a particular cherry - if you bug out (like we did, after the party was blinded), you have lost that particular macguffin.

That said, given that we can't actually *keep* any of the loot we find on our little quests, I don't see that as being a big issue. The main problem, is that if we don't have enough of these tokens, we won't get the intel we need - and we don't know precisely how many of these tokens we *actually* need...

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

The rest of the day passes uneventfully. Howard and Leonard spend their night on vigil, while Seamus sleeps with the continuous flame lamps on.

Day 9

Leonard and Vincent continue their research on The Codex of Three Prescriptions, The Manual of Silence, and The Unified Manual of Understanding. The Vooniths without too much success to cheer Monty up.

KP 5

A discourse on the dread Plateau of Leng explains that a more powerful form of ghoul inhabits regions where the Dreamlands connects to Leng. These Leng ghouls are shrewder than their lesser kin.

KP 0

Leonard and Vincent learn the proper phase that allows them to use the Dreamlands excursion occult ritual to reach the lost city of Alcazar in search of their royal ghoul skull.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

The party performs the ritual at night with Vincent leading.

Vincent drinks his alchemical allocation extract, then drinks his potion of heroism and spits it back out.

"We, The Seekers, are bound by a common purpose - the thirst for knowledge."

Vincent knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (15) + 15 + (1) = 31

He then passes the miniature ivory and horn staircase to Howard, who feels eager of its 70 steps.

"We have gathered this very night in order to open the gate to the Dreamlands."

Vincent knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 15 + (3) = 29

Howard passes the miniature ivory and horn staircase to Leonard, who feels eager of its 70 steps. The miniature ivory and horn staircase is now heavier. The continuous flame lights seem to dim.

"For beyond lies the knowledge we seek."

Vincent knowledge planes: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 15 + (4) = 29

Leonard passes the ivory and horn staircase to Seamus, who feels eager of its 70 steps. Seamus realizes the staircase has now grown bigger.

"Let the portal open between this world and the lost city of Alcazar."

Vincent knowledge planes: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (17) + 15 + (2) = 34

Seamus passes the now glowing with faint yellow light staircase back to Vincent, who feels each of its 70 steps.

Vincent takes a deep breath, then drops the stairs case in the center of the ring made by the party, but it doesn't seem quite center and an eerie yellow glow emits from it.

Vincent knowledge planes: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 15 + (1) = 20

Vincent feels the staircase sap his life energy. The party sees the staircase sinks into the ship deck, expanding to the size of a normal staircase and leads downwards into darkness...

Backlash damage to Vincent: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

The party moves towards the staircase, and fall fast asleep the moment they touch it.

They find themselves falling through cold darkness…then they see a speck of light in front of them. Moving towards it, the party finds themselves in arriving in a war camp in an enormous cavern dimly illuminated by multi coloured phosphorescent fungus, drained from their ordeal. Six chanting ghouls are beseeching Nyarlathotep for allies, "Oh Great Nyarlathotep, grant us your favour and send us powerful allies so that we may retake our former lands, the lost city of Alcazar."

Backlash Seamus: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Backlash Leonard: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

The moment the party appears, they cry out in unison, "Nyarlahotep has shown that he approves of our plans! All Hail our saviours sent from Him!" Then they start prostrating themselves at the party.

A semi green skin canine humanoid with rancid flesh and hoof like feet pushes his way through the chanting ghouls and speaks to the party. "Here, this way." He gestures at the party to follow him to the side.

The party heals themselves of the backlash damage before following the canine semi green skin humanoid.

We go into the city and kill all the Gugs? Hmm... Leonard paces back and forth, thinking out loud. If you thought we'd be unsucessfull, you wouldn't send us in alone, since then we'd die and that would hurt morale. But you've also just met us, and have very little to judge us on. In any case, you're asking us to put ourselves at risk, and can't guarantee that we won't be harassed on our way out. Seems to me like we're doing more work than you.

General Wilkins, you must as well call me, though I’ve never been one for fancy titles. Gets in the way of business.” He holds out a claw for the party to shake, but doesn’t really care if the party does so or not.”Lets get the invasion started.”

”Ghouls!” He yells out, his voice carrying over the cavern. ” The Aliens from Beyond have agreed to help us in retaking the Lost City of Alcazar! With their aid, we will not fail!”

The other ghouls arrange themselves into strike teams and other strap on makeshift armor.

”Team Alpha,”He addresses one strike team of ghouls,”You will lead the assault on the Marketplace.

”Team Bravo, the Grain Gate.”, ”Team Charlie, from the underground passage to the Sewers.”

”And now for all of you, Team Aliens,” He points at the party, ”Your party will secure Plaza of Bones.” He declares.

”Lets move out!” He orders.

He whispers conspiratorially to the party as they set off, ”The Mausoleum of Scarcrim Vost is in the Plaza of Bones. I’ve sent no ghouls with you, so with luck, you’ll be able to be done with your business and be on your way before any of my followers catch the desecration.” He passes a token with a glowing rune with the letter W on it. ”If you really run into stuff you can’t handle, press the button and I’ll arrange to get to you as quickly as I can.”

"Oh it's four miles." General Wilkins informs Vincent.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Vincent drinks long duration extracts before the party reaches the Plaza of Bones.

K1

The promenade is thirty feet wide and twenty feet high, with two columns of pillars marching down the center. Multicoloured fungi along the ceiling bathe the passageway in an eerie glow. The floor is scattered with cracked bones, which are more numerous at the far end. Each of the columns is carved to resemble multiple intertwined skeletons of humanoids, animals and stranger creatures. Some of these mysterious carvings are representations of the Dreamlands denizens or amalgams of known beats, while others are absolutely unique beings or unfathomable monstrosities. The party steps through the bones making scrunching sounds. As they approach the pillars, two of the columns animate into serpentine figures of bones, while the third forms a humanoid figure made out of bone.

Leonard knowledge arcana humanoid: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Howard and Leonard recognize the humanoid figure as a bone golem. It has DR 5/adamantine and bludgeoning; and A bone golem is immune to any spell or spell-like ability that allows spell resistance.

In addition, certain spells and abilities function differently against the creature, as noted below.

Magical effects that heal living creatures slow a bone golem (as the slow spell) for 1d4 rounds (no save).

A magical attack that deals negative energy damage breaks any slow effect on the golem and heals 1 point of damage for every 3 points of damage the attack would otherwise deal. If the healing would cause the golem to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points. A bone golem gets no saving throw against attacks that deal negative energy damage.

A raise dead, resurrection, or true resurrection spell negates its DR and immunity to magic for 1 minute.

Howard Knowledge arcana snakes: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Vincent knowledge arcana snakes: 1d20 + 13 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 13 + (2) = 20
Leonard knowledge arcana snakes: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

Vincent and Leonard recognize the snake creatures as Necrophidius. They have DR 5/bludgeoning, and can dance to daze living creatures 30 feet around them and their bite can cause paralysis.

Seamus + Leonard up, Slide 15. Note that as the bone golem is large, certain areas it'll have to squeeze.

Leonard stalks forward, Angliath twisting and shifting slightly as he sends a ripple of power into it. He stretches his left hand out, and a series of dancing, writhing copies of him materialize, obscuring his true position.

Casting mirror image, making the weapon +4. Is defending bone still active from casting it before entering the portal?

Images: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Defending bone is still active. 4 miles means about 6.4 km and an average human walking speed is about 4km/h. If you move fast, you may even cover 6 km/h. Defending bone lasts 7h.

Retired to Taldor?

Earlier
'Wow, I didn't know Leonard has such a way with undead.' Seamus smiles and watches as Leonard does such a good job working out the details with the undead general.

Now
following along behind Leonard and Vincent, "Yuck, more undead creatures, these must be the ones were supposed to fight instead of talk to." Seamus then begins to sing to inspire his friends.

Inspire courage is down because of this: A bardic performance cannot be disrupted, but it ends immediately if the bard is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. With Seamus dazed, he can't maintain it.
